Buy bottle water to wash your face with.
I'm not sure about over seas water in hotels but I travel pretty frequently and find that water in hotels dry my skin out terribly. At one hotel I had to even use bottled water to wash my hands because it was March ( winter air ) and my skin was drying out so bad from just washing my hands after using the bathroom.
Buy Evian travel size spray mists. It's really helpful on the plane when the air is so dry .
Since you are going to be there for 3 months just buy what you need when you get there. As others said, don't experiment while you there. 3 months is enough time IMO for you to go through the products you buy and you don't need to worry about packing them.

I actually use two H&M cosmetic bags atm - one for brushes and the makeup sponge, one for makeup. I've actually been thinking for a long time now that I'd like to get a bigger makeup bag that is able to stay up on a flat surface. I've heard a lot of good things about Ted Baker cosmetic bags, especially about their size, and when I found one with a hefty Black Friday discount, I finally caved in and ordered it yesterday. Alas, they are quite expensive in full prize, but if you are able to buy one on sale I'd recommend it. I'm sure I'll get years worth of use out of it. Doesn't hurt that I find it aesthetically pleasing as well!
On a side note, I saw this video a while back and I remember thinking that the first girl had a really amazingly compact cosmetics bag. Apparently her bag is this which is way out of my price range. But someone in the comments linked a more affordable "dupe" for it. If you're packing enough makeup to supply the contestants for RuPaul's next Drag Race season, then something similar to this might be the best option!
