I've heard this from a few people. We were an entire generation of kids who joined the military with the Black Hawk Down possibility playing in our heads . A single bullet is what we want. Poet veteran, Brian Turner said it best in "Here, Bullet." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LguxNDdyky8
His body of work. http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/1882295552
These are a few collections that I enjoy and have been very influential to my writing.
As a side note, three of the collections -- Ned, Jane and Lia's -- were written by professors that I had at Loyola University. All three are smart poets and great teachers, who deserve to have their work read.
