Hardshell travel cases. Some are even made specifically for the Vive with foam cutouts and all that. I just found 2 on Amazon & I'm sure there are more out there.

There's those 2 for a start. I think those cases are small enough for carry on, which is a plus.
Controller skins are nice... more for reduced scuffing up of the things around me than the controllers themselves.
Headset skin traps moisture beneath it. Skip it.
