You can wear welding goggles to view the eclipse safely, and there are big chunky styles of welding goggles that will fit over most glasses.

There's more than one way to make a cardboard HMD with a smartphone screen. Although I would really recommend using foamboard and a five to seven inch tablet. I'm currently experimenting with welding goggles and the same phone you're using. You might have a little better luck with a Nexus 7 Cardboard.

Also, you don't have to confine yourself to native Android and Google Cardboard demos. This guy set up his ghetto HMD to stream Minecraft from his PC with head tracking.

Really depends on your glasses frames. I've tried the Big Bens but they're not very comfortable for me. They press my glasses into my eyes and put pressure on the frame arms at the sides of my head. I couldn't get a comfortable configuration with them even though they're plenty big. What worked for me were welding goggles like these but the tradeoff is that there's no peripheral vision.

No. Try these $11 dollars kills the side light too. Fits over regular glasses with flip up front.

That there is a stye, an eye infection.

Shade 4 is what you need for oxy-acetylene, but it won't arc flash you it's just bright and hard to look at without the shade. I'd recommend cutting goggles - https://www.amazon.com/Hobart-770095-Welding-Oxy-Acetylene-Goggle-x/dp/B0017Z5IZE with the flip front.

But yeah the grind mode on an auto-darkening hood will do fine, make sure to wear some safety glasses under it, O/A likes to pop and send sparks EVERYWHERE.
