I'm reminded of this old xmas ornament that gave me entertainment as a kid. The Chirping Bird Ornament

Thus my proposal would be to remove the existing electronics and replace them with a Bean + Battery. The original chirping bird sound could be maintained along with other custom sounds, now under the control of the parents! Some LEDs or neopixel could be added in as well to add some lighting effects.
