There are a few third party ps4 controllers that are big like the xbone controller. A company starting with H I think. They make solid Nintendo controllers too.

Edit:here you go

If it bothers you that much, I'm pretty sure you can buy PS4 controllers that look like Xbox ones.

Edit: Here's an example

It isn't cheap though.

It says it won't ship to the United States, but it will work if you actually go through the checkout. It ends up being ~$55.

The hori onyx controller pretty much what you've got.

From what I've read, its pretty solid.

I think there's a third-party controller with an Xbox layout. I forgot the name. Anyone remember?
Whaddya think of this?

u/Electroniclog · 2 pointsr/PS4

As someone who owns both the PS4P and XB1X, I think they are both pretty great for their own reasons.

I personally prefer the xbox controller, but recently I purchased the Hori Onyx controller for PS4, which is basically the best of both worlds for me.

Some games I would suggest other than God of War:

  • Dragon Quest Builders

  • Persona 5

  • Nier: Automata

  • Ni No Kuni II

Also, Detroit: Become Human and Spider-man will be out soon, 10/10 recommend, the hype is real.

ps4 controllers are bigger than the ps3 ones.

however there are some you can get. scuf ocntrollers are custom ones, but can become quite expensive.

Unfortunately, you cant. However, there's an officially licensed controller that mimics the Xbox One controller. It's called the Hori Onyx.

I never tried it but it looks exactly like an Xbox controller so I guess it would be easier to use as a long time Xbox player. Check out some reviews if you're interested before buying though.

Scuff and other companies produce wireless PS4 controllers.

The controller I was talking about

I’d suggest two options, you could buy the PS4 Onyx Controller or it’s 2018 now so almost anything is now possible like this.. An Xbox to PS4 Controller Adapter .. It’s an Xbox battery pack that allows you to use your Xbox Controller wirelessly on PS4/Switch/PC..

Well, dunno if it's close enough, but I went though the same when I bought an xbone controller for PC gaming. Switching to the alphabet buttons was the biggest issue for me. I personally prefer the PS4 one for action heavy games, since Xbox hurts my hands after a bit, but both are good controllers in my opinion (never buy a steam controller. Camera contol is hell)

If the transition is to much of a hassle, Hori made something in the middlethat might work out for you if you ever find it cheap

Thumbstick seems messy to me because of its placement on the PS4 controller. It's fine for some games, but for accurate quick inputs it's a lot harder to feel where the true directions are. If the stick was where the d-pad was like on XB, it'd be a lot more reliable.

Anyways, the main advantage I saw in using the thumbsticks was getting run inputs way easier. For everything else the PS4's d-pad served me better.

Personally I still prefer PS4 controllers, but have you considered one with an Xbox layout (like Hori Onyx)? I don't have one on hand, but I believe the stick placement keeps your thumb pointed more straight forward than PS4's diagonal. I believe this is also why I had no issue using the stick on dreamcast controllers.

Onyx Bluetooth PS4 Controller [Hori] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0787BPRN4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UQOSBbN7GCCZD

I use this one. I use my Xbox more often than my PS4 I bought this for Spider-Man because I hate the dualshocks. Pretty good feel but triggers aren't as crisp as xb1

Not sure if these are good controllers but there are advertised PS4 controllers in Xbox style.... https://www.amazon.com/Onyx-Bluetooth-Controller-Sony-PlayStation-4/dp/B0787BPRN4

I have these two:

  • Hori Onyx - Wireless, but the triggers have a rather short distance to go, so, not perfect for racing games. The onyx has a built in battery like the DS4, so you'll also have to play it wired, when it's empty.
  • Nacon Revolution - Wired, but triggers are a bit better for racing games, but I don't like that they're diagonal. It also has some back buttons like Microsofts Elite Controller, if you liked that.

I can't recommend both a 100%, but they're both better than the DS4. So just buy the one you like better.

>How do you like the triggers? Better or same as DS4?

This for me is one of the areas where I fellt personally that there was room for improvement, but was still happy; in general with the DS4, I find that the triggers feel like I can break them as it doesn't feel like there's a great deal of support; I attribute this to the design ethos of the dualshock 4 itself; the triggers on the DS4 are fine - the mould however has very little material surrounding it, and so while I very much feel that they probably could take some punishment, I don't trust my own strength. It's psychological, you know?

With the Xbox and Hori triggers, there's more resistance to the pressing of the trigger buttons, and they're inset into the mould so that there's a little material around them, which is a little more comforting to me. So to say better would be unfair - it's one of the areas that I think there's a certain degree of psychology at play.

>Do you feel the build quality of everything is good? Sticks, primary buttons(triangle, X), d-pad, share/start, touch pad?

Sony could definitely learn a few things here. For some reason I actually like the overhang of the circle button; one of the biggest issues I have with controllers - especially because I touch type is that I constantly have to look down and remind myself the position for square, circle, x,y,b,a - it's an area where both controllers could be improved actually now that I think about it - with that little overhang, I have a frame of reference in my head now, so I know where circle is.

Overall, I feel it's more robust; all three controllers feel the same weight, but the Xbox controller and the Onyx feel like they could take more punishment in the long term. Little touches like the edges of the divets being smoothed off are an excellent design thought, as it eliminates that discomfort I feel when I'm pressing down the analogue stick to almost nothing - to the point that I haven't even considered putting a pair of kontrol freeks on.

The touch pad is actually nice and responsive, and again...the relocation of the share and options button to somewhere more familiar has made the experience of finding my way to the right button a lot easier to reconcile in my head.

>Lastly, 100%(roughly) satisfaction?

I would say about 85%. I'm 6'5", and anything after 6 foot I think guys generally feel like we're living in the land of the little people anyway in terms of most things. comfortable chairs, and public transport for example...

My point is that I have big palms, so having those small wings on the DS4 don't work for me. If they scaled up the Onyx by another 10 to 15% though? I'd be a happy man.

As for a reputable site, that's easy; You can order it from Amazon UK, and I believe they'll deliver to the states. Link here
