So I'm not sure why, but the Soul Calibur stick is 93 bucks right now. It's a pretty good stick.

As far as I know, it's completely identical to this stick. I've got this one and it's pretty good. Hori's Hayabusa stuff isn't generally the first choice, but it's definitely good enough.

For the record, you can change the artwork if you really want to. It's a bit time consuming, but an easy DIY project. This is mine. The hardest part is really just removing the old artwork as it's bonded to the metal. After that it's pretty basic.

The upcoming Hori Pro N is a little pricy, but it’s PS3/4 and PC (xinput). I have the Japanese version as well as a few others of this body type, and it’s hands down one of my favorite. The little bit extra up front is worth it, IMO. I’ve been replacing a lot of my sticks with the hayabusa parts that come in this.

Here is what I use:
HORI Rap N

Never used the RAP 4, but the RAP N looks a little heavier and I like the button placement and cord stash.

Speaking from experience and from other people telling me. Its best not to get a "beginner" stick. All I've done is switch out the parts to the stick since I've got my mayflash f300. Its essentially not even the same stick. It's best to save up the money for a real good stick you'd be happy with. I recommend Hori or Qanba

Where are you located?

Regular for $126

SC6 for $103

You can also check on eBay for lower prices, like $95

Aw damn, the SoulCalibur VI RAP N went back up in price. The PS4 version was $106 several days ago the last time I checked on Amazon and there was a good seller on eBay that sold it for around $85 to $95 which is where I got it from. Anyway, I do second this. It's my first fightstick and it's a blast.

The regular RAP N is priced lower than the SoulCalibur VI version on Amazon at $126.97 right now to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the SoulCalibur VI RAP N being $158.99.

If you're okay with used fightsticks, there is a seller, a pawn shop apparently with good reviews, selling the PS4 version of the Hori Tekken 7 RAP N for $99.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-Hayabusa-Tekken-7-Edition-Fight-Stick-PS4080/233395481925?hash=item3657746d45:g:cS0AAOSwfOBdxeKs&shqty=1&isGTR=1#shId

Personally, I wouldn't buy it not because it's used, but because of the price. From what I gathered, the Tekken 7 version is more of a collector's edition. It's usually more expensive than the regular RAP N and the SoulCalibur VI which because it was attached to a less popular game, is sold for less than the regular RAP N where except for not have these rubber mats under them, the same thing the Tekken 7 version lacks if I recall correctly, it's the same fightstick with a different art and case color. That is just me, though, if you really want a RAP N, like the Tekken 7 stock art, and are okay with the price, then sure.

Another "used" fightstick is the Rap 4 Kai which was mentioned by another user on Amazon. Amazon Warehouse currently has a "like new" offer for the Rap 4 Kai and it's $116.85. I've had good experiences with Amazon Warehouse, but there have been some misses like they sent me the wrong items. Not all that bad since you can just send it back and get a refund.

Someone else posted a thread about how the Razer Panthera Evo is on sale on their site and their eBay store for $140. The one issue with the Panthera Evo is that it can be difficult to install a Korean lever. You did not mention any 3D fighters like Dead or Alive, SoulCalibur, or Tekken, so it probably won't matter much, but in the future if you ever get into those, especially Tekken, or you really want to try out a Korean lever, then it could be a pain to install.

There's a user selling the Qanba Obsidian here. I do not want to imply the user is a bad person, but do be careful. The thread's title was not changed, but they're asking for $125 now.

HORI Real Arcade Pro N is good, Ive had mine for over a year now with no issues. Very easy to mod

This is the exact same stick but $50 cheaper

Since you are from Australia like me you will have issues finding good deals. If you are patient try to wait for prime day and get a stick on amazon with prime since the major costs for us will be the delivery fees and added GST. In terms of recommendations, i personally go either qanba obsidian or razer panthera.

The Hori stick is currently on sale and a good deal(not sanwa parts though) if you have prime but i personally wait for prime day for qanba obsidian as that may drop to 138 USD or lower like last year which is about the same price as the current Hori arcade stick.

I have a razer panthera which i bought this year for about 230 AUD but would've waited for the qanba obsidian on prime day if i was patient this year or black friday/cyber monday.

If you are gonna spend bellow 150 AUD most likely suggest qanba drone(evo drone is better) but i personally wouldnt spend money on arcade sticks bellow as they wont either have sanwa parts or you may regret it once u want to get more premium sticks.

I'm using the Tekken 7 version of this stick and its really great. Hori are well known for their quality sticks and the buttons are incredible. Very natural layout, really low profile and super light to the touch.. Only have UK link but i know you can find this in the states

there's no such thing as a "beginner" stick. you just need to get one that uses decent parts like sanwa. unfortunately that means you will have to spend more but I recommend Hori

if you're really strapped for cash try this stick and then mod it later with sanwa parts

also playing on pad is perfectly viable, even more so for SFV. so don't feel like you need to get one unless you have aspirations to go to japan one day and play against the arcade heads

u/Crusty_Dick · 1 pointr/Fighters

The Hori looks nice but it comes out next month if you don't mind waiting.

Similar except for the layout/placement of the buttons.

The Rap 4 uses a Vewlix layout with the start/options button directly to the right of the buttons and is the cheaper of the two

The RAP N uses the Namco Noir layout, is slightly smaller and has the start button in a little compartment to the upper right of the buttons and is slightly more expensive

Qanba Obsidian

Hori Fighting Edge

Hori Real Arcade Pro N Hayabusa

All come with high-quality parts. They are also all common enough to find artwork print and plexi services for them.
