Consider the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdn. It's an ideal replacement for your "road warrior" laser printer. Ths M426fdn is a rock-solid compact monochrome multi-function laser printer that handles printing/copying/scanning/faxing (will also multitask!).
Document scanning is available both by flatbed and the 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF). Duplex (double-sided) printing AND scanning are fully supported. Advanced scanning is supported: scan-to-email, scan-to-cloud, and scan-to-USB. The M426fdn is also much faster than the old printer (40 vs. 26 pages per minute). Ethernet and USB connectivity are included.

For storage while in transit, you might want to pick up another Rubbermaid case and some Instapak expanding foam packs. These foam packs are fast, effective, inexpensive and (once hardened) the molded foam packs can be reused many times to ship your printer.
