this HP sold by VIP outlet is always around 530 (refurb), with the exact same specs. so while this Omen is a good deal it isn't hard to find https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B077S27YLP/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all

My general recommendation is to seriously just put in the ~hour it takes to watch one of the better assembly tutorials on youtube. Any decent component purchased from a reputable retailer will have return options in the event something comes Dead On Arrival, and unless you go out of your way it's hard to fuck up PC assembly bad enough to cause damage. Prebuilts almost as a rule come with something on the order of a 70%+ markup over their parts' value and like to cut corners.

As for figuring out which parts to use for a good, balanced build for a given budget; I'd recommend using the ever-venerable Logical Increments guide as a jumping-off point and putting together a shopping list using PC Part Picker. (Which has its own community-driven build recommendations.)

But if you absolutely need a game-ready desktop out of the box, the HP Pavilion Power series is generally the way to go: The price on that particular model is actually pretty damn good, and it'll run pretty much whatever you want at 1080/60+. I'd still recommend picking up a 120-250GB SSD to put in there to run Windows on though.

u/TheRealestMason · 3 pointsr/buildapcforme

These go on sale for around $450 all the time and will be wayyyy better than anything you can build for that price.

This frequently goes on sale for ~500 and would be more than enough to run Titanfall.

Hi! Although I have never used Clip Studio Paint, I use Paint Tool SAI and Adobe Animate very often so I'm going to hope they are relatively similar. I'm going to assume CSP is going to be a bit more resource intensive than SAI, but I'm certain nearly everything from this decade will do fine with that program. As for Photoshop, you have a few choices (I'm going to stick with 8th gen CPUs for now, the 9th gen ones are coming but it's still too early. If you want to go that route I'd suggest waiting for a few months.) The i5 8th gen is going to be cheaper but will perform about 15% worse in photoshop compared to the i7 8th gen. $900 is at that annoying border between a 1060 and 1070. However, this won't help much with digital art.

[$756] Dell Inspiron - i5 8th gen, 1060 3gb, it should do great with Photoshop and you'll be able to play games well. Streaming should be no problem (it's more dependent on your internet connection) and dual monitors is going to require a little bit of fiddling. If I remember correctly, the 1060 has 1 HDMI and 3 DPorts (someone correct me if I'm wrong), HDMI will work with no problem but you'll have to fiddle a little with the DPorts. Shouldn't be that much of a problem though. Use code Eleven11 at checkout to save 11%.

[$690] Dell Inspiron - You'll still be able to play Overwatch without a GPU but it won't be the greatest experience. This has an i7 8th gen, should do better than the i5 8th gen by a noticeable margin. This will save you a bit of money with the tradeoff of weak gaming performance. Don't forget to use Eleven11 at checkout.

[$686] HP Pavilion Power - Same as above but has a 7th gen i5. 7th gen vs 8th gen is about a 40-50% improvement. However, PS can't really take advantage of the extra cores on the 8th gen i5 so you'd probably only be looking at about 15-20% improvement (take this with a grain of salt, I don't have any hard benchmarks). Get this if you want to save a bit of money for relatively similiar performance.

Besides the Dell systems, I'd recommend waiting for Black Friday. I'm sure there will be desktop deals that are better than these. For reference, I'd go for at least an i5 8th gen, and at least a 1050ti, nothing less. Good luck!

I HATE to recommend a prebuilt but with RAM / GPU at insane prices I'd have to say this PC which received a LOT of upvotes in /r/buildapcsales :

HP Pavilion Power 580-023w Gaming Tower, Intel Core i5-7400, NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB Graphics, 8 GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive, Windows 10 for $700 new.

With a 1060 should handle anything 1080p at mid to max settings with ease.

Honestly my brother just bought this https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-580-023w-i5-7400-Graphics/dp/B077S27YLP and it runs pubg just fine at all times. I would suggest eventually getting a new case, power supply, and upgrade to 16gb ram. But it will play it out of the box.

Not really worth it man, but it is a solid built that won't disappoint you if you do go for it.

The 580 4gb is an effing great card and is a bit better than the 1060 3gb, but [here on Amazon we can see this HP Pavillion gaming desktop] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B077S27YLP/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all) with almost identical specs, go for $200 less. It may be refurbished, but $200+ of a jump in price is not worth it for a 580 4gb, even if the entire build is completely new.

The [HP Pavillion gaming desktop] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B077S27YLP/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all) is very solid at $580 used, but it drops down to maybe as low as $520 at some points and is constantly posted here. The 3gb 1060 sounds really bad in theory, but it's not going to be too far off from the 580 4gb. Like lower down shadows from high to medium, and you've got yourself a card that's identical to the 580 4gb.

You'd need to spend a little over $850 before taxes to have enough horsepower to run either SEUS Renewed or the high preset for SEUS v11 at a render distance around 12, depending on the version of SEUS. Might be able to bump that up a bit with some setting tweaks.

The build below should do the trick.

A build of this caliber would have cost around $600 a few years ago. Stupid crypto miners :(

Prebuilts usually cut corners in one way or another. I managed to find a rather decent one for $720 here on Amazon; it isn't half bad.

Four key differences from the above parts list:

  • Processor is from the previous generation.
  • This means it'd be a tad less powerful.
  • This also means that the upgrade path isn't exactly the greatest.
  • Motherboard has only two RAM slots.
  • This would limit future RAM upgrades.
  • The included graphics card is a GTX 1060 3GB.
  • Aside from the obvious difference in VRAM, the 3GB model of the GTX 1060 has a few less CUDA cores than the 6GB model.
  • This means the 3GB model will perform a bit worse than the 6GB model.
  • Cooling all-around isn't so great.
  • The heatsink for the processor is a stock Intel heatsink.
    • Stock Intel heatsinks aren't really intended for gaming or other high-end uses.
  • Only comes with one case fan.

This prebuilt is one of those decent all rounders. There are a few cut corners, but it'll end up performing just fine as long as you don't keep it in a warm room.

If you can swing it, I'd still recommend gathering the parts and building a PC over getting a prebuilt.

No SSD.

Buying a new one that fits my needs + amazon shipping pushes the price up to about 800 not including the fact that I don't like personally installing hardware.

That and - there's a PC with almost the exact same standards in the HP pav. also on amazon, for about 100 bucks cheaper without the wifi (which I don't need) and the Vr (which I don't want).

Will keep it in mind though.

u/VitarainZero · 1 pointr/Guildwars2

Roughly $500? I'd recommend keeping an eye on this.

HP Pavilion Power 580-023w

Right now it says $638 for used, but new refurbished deals show up on it every now and then. A few weeks ago it was refurbished for $500, and it was again for a couple days for $502 when I bought it. The only thing it's missing is a SSD, which I popped in my old one, or you can buy one for pretty cheap.

As for how good it runs GW2? It looks like I'm able to record in 1920x1080p in raids at medium settings at a steady 60+fps. So I'd recommend keeping an eye on that page, or head over to /r/buildapcsales where pretty good deals get posted. Keep an eye out for deals on computers with similar specs, for a similar price. They sell out within a day though usually, so keep at it

u/mtk216 · 1 pointr/ScrapMechanic

You don't need to get an $1000 computer. For something like Scrap Mechanic, you can get a computer that will run it (and most games) for like $500.

Edit: For example, here's a computer you could build yourself that would have no problem running most games at 1080p on medium-high. Total is under $500. There are some decent prebuilt computers you can get for around $700, like this one.

u/themew2 · 1 pointr/buildapc

If you are talking about this:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-580-023w-i5-7400-Graphics/dp/B077S27YLP

Then you can use either an M.2 or a 2.5 SATA SSD.

The generic answer would be "yes".

u/MrMuf · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

At the moment, Prebuilt computers are actually the most economic way to go at the moment because of the whole cryptocurrency mining thing going on atm. But that may change in a year.

Gaming laptops are going to be a lot more than 500 dollars, but a decent computer with the capabilities to play games shouldn't be much more than 500.

I don't know how much you need to run Sims 4 but this computer should play most games fairly well.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077S27YLP/?coliid=I351BA7O2V2EM1&colid=H4JY95NTZX2D&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

A similarly specced computer. You could skimp on some things but I think a case should be pleasing to look at. As you can see a lot of the savings is in windows being included.

I think this one could do the trick.

Refurb Pre-Build w/ i-5 7400 and 1060 3gb Keep in mind I am spec'ing a refurb and you could find it in the 'used and new' sellers.

I would also suggest investing in a 16gb dual channel kit of ram as well found here

This would put you right at $710, which is retail new for the build and now you have a a very comfy 16gb of ram. You could even sell the extra stick of 8gb of ram for around ~$50-$70 (hell I would probably buy it!).

Desktops will have much better performance per dollar and are just as reliable or even more so in many cases, compared to laptops. As well it's much easier to upgrade a desktop down the line so it says relevant longer. Below is a link to a desktop on Amazon. For a similar performing laptop you'd be paying closer to $1200. Granted you'll still need keyboard, mouse and monitor, but that can be had for another $100. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-580-023w-i5-7400-Graphics/dp/B077S27YLP/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?keywords=gaming+computer&qid=1556672852&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011%2Cp_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A18107821011&rnid=3012494011&rps=1&s=pc&sr=1-11

u/Splongus · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

your requirements are very low these days. if you build your pc yourself you can save money because some prebuilts will be far more powerful than you need in some areas and lacking in others. you might save a lot of money on a prebuilt that has a for example decent processor and memory but end up with some not-so-good components like PSU, case, motherboard, cooling and upgradability. down the line you might regret not building your own

here's a parts list that will exceed your requirements by about 30%: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2hvmBb EDIT: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JPPdfH - edit info at the bottom of this post

you can get 80fps in borderlands 2 with a gt 1030 so if you want to cut about 30-40 bucks off this list don't hesitate to go with a GT 1030 GDDR5 video card (NOT DDR4)

you could find a 366USD prebuilt acer with an i3-8100 and similar specs in it (how do they even make profit), but the case it comes with has such bad cooling that i would never recommend putting a graphics card above 65 watts in it. plus, it'll be an absolute pain to work with when removing/adding components and its PSU wattage is a little low. not sure about PSU brand quality so that's another unsure thing. lastly the motherboard BIOS will limit you if you ever want to tinker with things in the future. it also comes with no SSD: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-TC-885-ACCFLi3-Desktop-i3-8100-802-11ac/dp/B07CYF9YGF

this is probably a similar situation: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Business-Quad-Core-Bluetooth/dp/B07GVJK6FH

remember, these have no video cards

here's one with great specs though for a price lower than my parts list: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-580-023w-i5-7400-Graphics/dp/B077S27YLP

again i'll be wondering if the cooling on this thing will throttle the gpu a bit. note this has no ssd

EDIT: changed B360 to H370, adds more PCIe lanes and more than one system fan header. if you go with the B360 you'll need to buy a PWM fan splitter cable: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pQPzK8/silverstone-technology-all-black-sleeved-1-to-2-sleeved-pwm-fan-splitter-cable-cpf01

That, however, completely ignores the fact that to get comparable performance, Consoles run games at far worse qualities.

My barebones, $500 PC Can get 1080p 60fps performance out of Alien Isolation, where Xbox one can barely eke out 30fps on the same quality.

Assassins Creed Black Flag, renders stably on my comparably priced pc with better performance at 1080p where xbox one cant even play the game at 30fps at 900p.

Same with Unity.

The fucking xbone cant even play Battlefield 4 at 900p, having to downgrade to 720p.

Explain to me how you can justify paying $500 for a console that is essentially a shittier version of a PC that cant stream videos as well, cant browse the internet as well, cant play video games as well, and you still have to pay for the right to use your own fucking internet through some shitty paywall service like Xbox Live and Playstation Plus.

Alrighty. Are you comfortable with building your own? I know you said you have never built before, but I built mine only 3 days after my 15th birthday in a total of an hour and a half. No problems at all and I got a much better deal. Of course, prices have gone up, so there won't be as much of a benefit, but still substantial.

Here's this. It's just a tad over budget, and has no SSD, but it'll perform very well. The case has customizable lights, but you can disable that easily.

Alternatively, this prebuilt is a pretty okay deal. It only has the 3 GB version of the GTX 1060, but it'll still work fine to play games. Not nearly as good as the part list I just put together with your budget (assumed you already have a keyboard and mouse).

Ok. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-580-023w-i5-7400-Graphics/dp/B077S27YLP

OP, be sure to check r/buildapcsales. This computer goes for around 600 very often. Was stupid cheap at Black Friday for like 350.

For monitor, check this out. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7cw323/acer-monitor-umwg6aab01

If you have left over funds after finding the computer on sale, I highly suggest getting a better mouse and keyboard.

Except that to play something like GTA 5, you kinda do need a decent graphics card. Your computer might actually explode if you try to run it off integrated graphics.

All that being said, $500-$700 is kind of insufficient for running a game like that, particularly if you don't already have the video card, monitor, keyboard, mouse pad, speakers and/or windows license to transfer. In your case I could only recommend taking a pre-built.

This seems to be the current standard of budget pre-built systems. If possible I'd probably try to do a clean install of Windows to wipe whatever bloatware is on there, but yeah.

Depends on what specs you want on the prebuilt. I used to recommend the prebuilds from manufacturers like Dell or HP but I realized that someone who purchased one wasn't able to add anything or upgrade it because they're so compact with the actual pc tower and can't fit anything else. So prebuilts through something like cyberpower pc or something that actually uses mid size towers with a ton of room are better options because you can actually reuse parts like the case. But a worthwhile prebuild might still be $700, maybe $600 if on sale. There's not many that would have the specs like the list i have above because it's a bit lower tier of a pc (still really good for gaming though). I don't know what your financial situation is or how long it would take you to save money, but you don't necessarily have to wait years before you can make a pc. Just take some time to get a little more funds to get a solid pc, you won't regret it. And waiting may help as well since prices are really hard to manage right now. Anyway, follow r/buildapcsales as they post a lot of prebuild pc's that are found to be on sale. Something like this is typically on the cheaper side of prebuilds but those are the small cases that have very little room for upgrades. Something like this would be better suited for upgrades.

I'm just basing all of this based on what you said, and it seems like you really want to build your own pc but you're willing to sacrifice that experience initially to get a prebuild until you're ready. So somewhere along the line, you're definitely looking to physically build your own which in that case, I would not look to get a prebuild first. You'd just end up using your money on something that may actually do you well for awhile, giving you little reason to actually upgrade. Then, if you actually decide to upgrade, you're left with little options as you might be replacing 3/4th's of your prebuild to get better components and at that point, it's basically like you're building an entirely new pc.

tl;dr just save up a little more. That was a lot to type but I hope I got the point out for you.

You also might want to look into prebuilts, something like this is good: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077S27YLP/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=. You can get it used "like new" for 30 bucks less and used "very good" for 180 dollars less too although it does goes on sale usually for about 400-500 bucks and shows up from time to time on r/buildapcsales so maybe wait a bit if you are planning on getting it. And I know, you don't get the pleasure of building a pc but with the price of graphics cards and ram these days, prebuilts aren't a bad option to look at not mention this prebuilt does perform better than the build above. It does of course have some disadvantages such as no CPU overclocking, no SSD and a 1 TB less HDD but one thing you can do is well, just add a SSD in and it'll be a pretty solid build.
