wish you luck.

at $30 it seemed like a great deal, but now, when it's just a few bucks cheaper then a [hyperX](https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL-WR/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=sr_1_3?

u/Ravinac · 31 pointsr/buildapc

I like my Hyper X Clouds. Super comfy to wear for log periods, good sound range, and the mic quality is pretty good. I am by no means an audiophile, so I might get some flak, but for the price I don't think they can be beat. For about $30 more you can get the Cloud II that have surround sound.

Wall of text ahead. Please, read only if you are really interested...

What I usually recommend when someone ask for advice about gaming headsets is: Gaming headset are crap 99% of the time. They provide very poor sound quality, and any good headphone (literally, even 40$ ones) will sound far better than expensive 300$ headsets. The question is not if headphones are better than headset (the answer is “Hell, YEAH”). The question is, are they better for you?

What are you planning to use your headphones for? Just for gaming, or for gaming and music listening?

If the answer is “just for gaming”, then ask yourself if a Hifi headphone is what you need. Usually games don’t really need high quality headphones, since they provide low quality sound, and you will be more concentrated gaming than listening. In that scenario, everything will serve you, and gaming headsets have the advantage of the integrated microphone.

So, if you want something good for gaming, and just for gaming, with integrated microphone, then the only two headsets with good enough quality sound (aka don’t suck) are:

HyperX Cloud (70$)

Sennheiser G4me One (170$)

Both are good choices. Or go with any fancy RGB headset you find (Logitech, Razer, Corsair, Steelseries, etc), you will most probably don’t notice the difference while gaming.

BUT, if you plan to use them for music listening besides gaming, then keep reading.

Hifi headphones for gaming have the disadvantage of having to deal with the micro thing. None of them have microphone incorporated, and you must either use a desk microphone like this, use a modmic like this one. or if your budget is tight, something like this. The first one requires desk space. The second and third one are detachable micro, with an extra cable you’ll have to deal with. Any of them are a nuisance. Any solution is annoying. All of them are an extra expense that must be accounted. If micro is a must and you are not willing to bother with this solutions, please, go back to HyperX Cloud or G4me One.

Ok, so, you really want some damn good headphones, that also can be used for gaming! Keep reading, please (are you bored yet?).

You can choose Closed back headphones (the classic ones you have already used. Closed back models offer good isolation and do not leak sound. This is your choice when there are people around you, or you want isolation from noisy a environment.) or Open Back headphones (Open back models offer next to no isolation and will leak sound -and allow you to hear what happens around you-, but they are the best sounding models). Open headphones achieve the best sound, soundstage (feeling that sound is coming from around you) and imaging (ability to locate the origin of one sound).

If you are here because you want to get a replacement for a gaming headset, I would recommend you Open back, but since they don’t isolate, you must choose. If isolation is required, get closed back, if that’s not a concern, go open.

Some closed back cans:

Audio-Technica ATH-M40x. 100$. Balanced headphones, very good feedback from lots of people. Typical entry level headphones to the rabbit hole.

Sennheiser HD 598Cs. 125$. Balanced, very very detailed, great instrumental separation. Comfortable as hell, Very recommended.

Beyerdynamic DT770. 160$. V-shaped signature (lots of bass and lots of treble). Great for explosions, movies, and rock. Treble can be harsh if you are sensible. Get the 32 ohm version, as the 80 (may) and 250 (do) need an amplifier to work properly.

Those are some examples of entry-mid level of closed cans. There are lots more, depending of your budget!

As for open cans:

Superlux HD668b. 40$. Those are THE CANS. The best quality for low budget you can get. Hands down. Great soundstage, Bass light. They are not too comfortable, but pads can be changed for a deluxe comfort (extra expense). You are not getting anything better at this price. For gaming in a budget, this are the headphones you were looking for,

Philips SHP9500. 80$. Mid-forward signature. Good soundstage, great comfort. Very detailed. Another amazing quality for the budget headphone.

Sennheiser HD 598 SR. 170$. Very similar to the HD 598Cs, but with open back. Wider soundstage, a little less bass. Very balanced headphones. Super-duper comfortable. Great for long gaming sessions.

Philips Fidelio X2. 250$. V-shaped signature. Those are in another league. Build quality is just.. OMG. Extreme soundstage and imaging. More comfortable than the HD 598. Bass is BOOOOOM!!!. A little pricey, and can be somewhat fatiguing to listen if you are treble sensible, due to high treble.

Well, that’s all. I have selected only headphones that don’t need an amplifier. Now is your turn to research, watch some Youtube videos, read some reviews, and give them a try.

All this headphones are GOOD. No trash here, and all them will make you open your eyes when listening your music if you are coming from standard headsets. You will notice sounds, instruments, that you never realized they were there, even if you had listened this song a thousand times before. Try them, and be amazed.

Welcome to the rabbit hole.

I have been using the Logitech G430 for about 8 months now for PC gaming and love them.

Some other possible headsets:

u/OxideMako · 8 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Gaming Headset? Probably this - http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98

Although it is stereo. (unless you have a Dolby Headphone-enabled mobo/soundcard)

u/spamyak · 7 pointsr/headphones

Get the DT-770. They're like the 990 but closed and bassier, a good fit for electronic music. They're built like tanks, they don't look great (and don't need to), they isolate well, and thus they barely leak sound.

If you're using with a laptop or phone with underpowered audio out, get the 32 Ohm for $124.

Otherwise, the 80 Ohm version is $118 and also has velour pads. It also has just a bit more bass, but on worse audio sources it will be too quiet or otherwise sound a bit off.

Don't get an amp - if you would need an amp, get the 32 Ohm version. If you're dead set on getting an amp, go for a DAC/Amp, the SMSL M3 is one of the best cheaper desktop models.

Alternatively, and this will be frowned upon here, you could go for HyperX Cloud for $80. You missed the cheaper sale Friday ($65), but from personal experience of having these exact headphones without the microphone, they sound great with everything and have enough detail that they're a significant upgrade over what you have now.

I got these back in April and have been pretty happy with them so far.

u/TylerNW3994 · 7 pointsr/virtualreality

I just got my vive the other day and I'll tell you my first impressions.

Comfort:
When you wear it on your head it feels very comfortable. The padding feels very soft and you don't really notice it. My issue is when you lift if up a bit to see your surroundings it doesn't feel normal, but the thing wasn't meant to be worn on your forehead so I'd say this should be expected. It doesn't really feel heavy although you can notice it if you turn your head quickly.

Wiring and Setup:
The setup took me a little bit longer than expected but I think that is specifically because I had to move around a lot of plugs and outlets. The headset and each of the lighthouses have larger plugs that will take up a larger space on certain surge protectors. Get a surge protector like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDTHCQB/ref=s9_acsd_top_hd_bw_bk1E1_c_x_3_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=V656YQZJYA9284HP4KS2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=e30bbd9d-4a22-5679-ba71-6c4680d5020e&pf_rd_i=10967801) and you'll be fine with them. Otherwise you'll end up like me and one of the plugs will cover up three slots.

Audio: I cannot comment on the headphones that HTC provides but I can tell you that I have a HyperX Cloud which I love. I mention this because I now have an extra wire following me around wherever I walk. This is problematic because now I'm tripping over my wires as they get tangled up in each other. There might be a solution to this but, to be honest, I'm too lazy to do anything about it right now.

Tracking: The tracking is hit and miss with me, but take that with a grain of salt, as I have not mounted my lighthouses to my wall, instead have them around head height. HTC recommends you have them higher than your head (around 6.5 feet or 2 meters high) and I don't have that right now. That being said, the tracking isn't bad at all. But when it messes up, it messes up bad. The worst is when it moves your headset, I feel instant motion sickness. The controllers have the same issues but that's a minor frustration compared to feeling instantly dizzy.

Overall: I love this thing and I feel like I made a great purchase. I would also like to point out that HTC has payment plans available with no interest. You can pay about $70 a month for a year, which is what I'm doing, or pay it off in 6 months for about $140 (this includes taxes and fees but not expedited shipping) You can also do two years, but that has interest applied to it and you'd be paying a little over $40 a month for two years, costing you over $100 more than you should have paid. Amazon also has a payment plan, if you want to pay it off in 5 months instead.

If you have any other questions let me know, and I'd be more than happy to answer them!

I dont know anything about the technicalities but I've been using the hyper x 1 which i bought for £60 and just got the 598c yesterday. The difference between the two headphones is very very negligible. Im still trying the sennheisers out because some people said just listen to the sennheisers for a little while then go back to the hyper x and see the difference. But its likely I'll just refund these as the difference is very small and for some songs theres no difference at all.

I used the Sony Gold headset for 2 years and it's amazing. I'd recommend just plugging it in to your controller though so you never have to recharge it.

I have the Cloud Gaming headset now and it is also a really nice headset HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset - Black (KHX-H3CL/WR) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1uzmybQP31KNR

u/FidgetMyMidget · 5 pointsr/buildapc

Gaming Headsets are generally really bad. They take a poor quality headphone, a poor quality microphone, add in a "gamer" aesthetic, and overcharge for it. Most will suggest that you get a separate headphone and microphone for the best quality, but I understand that some just want the convenience of a combined kit.

In this case, the Hyper X Cloud and Cloud II are without peer. They are the only ones at or below $100 that can compete with standalone $100 headphones, and the mics aren't garbage. Avoid the Cloud Core and Cloud Revolver.

u/sherril8 · 5 pointsr/CompetitiveHalo

I really enjoy the HyperX Cloud headset which is around $68 on Amazon right now

You will need a newer controller with the 3.5mm jack or the headset adapter.

u/Anus_Plunger · 4 pointsr/buildapc

I really like the Hyper X Clouds. They aren't very bulky and sit quite comfortably. The microphone quality is also really good for the price. Nice sturdy cord on it as well. The microphone is also detachable. https://www.amazon.ca/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98

The HyperX Cloud should be really good.

Personally I own a Siberia v2 which I really like though it hurts my left ear after a couple of hours and the mic is broken (I think the mic part may be my own fault though I'm usually careful with my stuff). I would suggest a separate headphone and clip on mic rather than headsets. But if you really want a headset instead, the HyperX Cloud is an extremely good headset.

I don't usually like headsets since the cost is split between the actual headphones and mic quality, meaning that the headphone part isn't any better than a junk $20 headphone. But the HyperX Cloud is one of the only headsets that come close to my Sennheisers.

Also, don't get the "7.1 surround" gimmick on headsets. It's virtual 7.1, and the drivers are usually trash. It's better to get a headset with really good drivers and a decent mic than anything else.

ie My old $120 Tritton 720+ is garbage compared to the $80 HyperX Cloud.

It's the most bang for your buck IMO since the quality for just $80 is outstanding. The bass is a bit louder than I like, but that's negligible since it's not that overpowering.

The Steelseries Siberia are also pretty good.

I'm ready.

For this game alone i bought a new tv, a new gen console, a sound bar, a gaming headset, and I returned a broken controller to MS and I am saving the new one for launch.

I'm ready.

On another note if anyone is looking for a good gaming headset for ps4/xbox one check out this one: Gaming Headset. Its amazingly comfortable.

u/Yreisolgakig · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I strongly recommend the HyperX Cloud, quality headset right there

u/diruuo · 3 pointsr/headphones

Since you want something that doesn't break the wallet yet sounds great for gaming and general use I highly recommend the HyperX Cloud either the newer version or th first one. In regards to comfort, quality and features they are great. It also comes with a detachable well-grounded mic (it doesn't crackle when you move it).

You mentioned you're from Spain so here's a link to Spanish Amazon - http://www.amazon.es/gp/aw/d/B00JJNQG98/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1453640737&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=hyperxcloud 70 euro currently. Can probably find it cheaper locally.

u/mikeyaworski · 3 pointsr/PKA

I got this headset on sale for $80 when it came out. It uses a condenser microphone and doesn't pick up anything except my voice. My mouth has to be very close to it. You won't hear my dad if he opens my door and talks to me.

u/sykoKanesh · 3 pointsr/WindowsMR

I bought these for my son and I: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JJNQG98/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - super comfy, mic is removeable, comes with adapters to vary the cable length, and different sized ear... cup... things...

EDIT: I just noticed the price jumped up from $79.99 when I bought them, to $99.99 as linked... ouch. If you can afford them though, definitely recommend them. You will NOT be disappointed.

For such a low price the quality is insane and the headphones are sound cancelling and incredibly comfortable. I think the Cloud 2 headset just came out but I have the Cloud 1 set and they are amazing.

u/LalaCalamari · 3 pointsr/xboxone

Any gaming headset will do. What's your budget?

Kingston makes some really nice headsets that aren't too expensive that sound fantastic. Check out the Kingston HyperX Cloud ($76), HyperX Cloud II ($95) and the HyperX Cloud Revolver ($120).

Currently I'm using the Sennheiser Game Zero and love them but they're at $190 and a little pricey.

u/VorticalBlade · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

You'll never beat a great pair of dedicated audiophile headphones and a desk mic, but if you are determined to be sinful, i have heard good things about the HyperX Cloud

u/gravyenema · 3 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

Do you want to isolate the sound? Do you want people in the room to be able to hear what you are listening to?

Open Headphones generally sound better, and have a wider soundscape. They do however do not isolate the ambient noise, they also leak sound to everyone else. Great ones for under $100 are the Sennheiser HD518, the ATH-AD500x, and the AKG K240. The cheapest option that is recomended is the Superlux HD681

If you wish to have better isolation, then you need a Closed Back headphone. The m50s are great but overpriced compared to their little brother the ATH-m30x. I also really like the Shure SRH240. The standard cheap option I have seen is the Sennheiser HD201

Also there are some headsets that are worth the money. The Kingston(Qpad, Takstar) CloudX, and the Siberia V2 are held in high regard for their "Bang for Buck".

The [kingston hyperx cloud] (http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98) are meant to be great as a headsety under $100.

u/QuipA · 3 pointsr/headphones

The original Headphone is the Takstar Pro 80.

Takstar is an original equipment manufacturer from China which means other companies can "buy into their product line" and rebrand Takstars portfolio.

The Gemini HSR1000, Kingston Hyper X Clouds, QPAD QH90 and many other variants are all made by Tasktar. All the other companies do is to pick a new design, add accessories and then jack up the price to take advantage of a target group that doesn't know any better.

Edit:

There's also an inexpensive open back variant available, originally called Takstar HI-2050. QPAD sells it for 100 EUR as QPAD QH85 with a mic.

It is also available without mic under names like IMG Stage Line MD-6800 or Omnitronic SHP-600.

Btw...what you linked above is the Hyper X Stinger, that model has nothing to do with any of the other models and does not sound as good. This is the decent Hyper X Cloud

u/KingOfInfo · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you must have a headset, get a HyperX Cloud. It's basically Takstar Pro80 that Kingston re-branded and slapped a mic on. The HyperX Cloud II is only worth getting if you want virtual 7.1 surround.

The Logitech G502 is a great mouse for all games, but considering the cost of the headset, you might want a Logitech G303, Steelseries Rival 300, or a Razer Deathadder.

u/thewhiteman80 · 3 pointsr/PS4

See alot of people recommending the Sony gold headphones and they're great headphones but the hinges are plastic and tend to break after a couple years of use (mine did a month ago). Now I'm using the hyperx cloud headphones 80 bucks on Amazon and they're awesome the build quality and comfort are much better than the Sony golds . These aren't wireless though.

The HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset is a very comfortable and durable headset. It is 80 so 10 dollars above your price range. Get it only if you have a sound card. The mic will pick up everything but is good if you are only talking to friends/people in game.

if you want a good headset with great sound quality you should check out the hyperx cloud. kingston is new to the peripheral industry but the headset seems to be very well reviewed, and it was build in partnering with Qpad, who are a pretty reputable high end peripheral brand.

u/Singularity78 · 3 pointsr/CringeAnarchy

HyperX Cloud seems like the best option for you then. Below $100 and can plug right into the Xbox one controller (I'm not sure if the HyperX 2s can though)

Getting cheap headsets (like 30 or under) is kinda a waste of money, since they won't be that good, will probably not last long and you'll want to upgrade them anyway. HyperX Cloud is an entry-level of decent sound and totally worth it.

Other than those, I'd say HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset - Black (KHX-H3CL/WR) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gJmjyb114724J (also US Amazon Link). These were awesome because of their memory foam padding and jus the overall level of comfort they offered.

Keep in mind neither of these offer true surround sound and are both wired to your controller. If you have any questions about either, let me know! I no longer own either but used them both for a fre months each before I handed them down to my cousin. I currently use Astro A50s.

HyperX Cloud

63€ but better quality than most 100€+ headsets. One of the most popular headsets, 4.4 stars on amazon, everything you need included (extension cable, another pair of earpads, airplane adapter, a very good little bag to put your headset in, 2 to 1 adapter for PS4/Xbox controller etc), very nice sound, most comfortable headset i've ever had, customer support flawless and so many extras for only 63€

HyperX Cloud. Great headphones and the most comfortable ones you'll ever wear.

Amazon link.

They're $20 cheaper at Gamestop.

u/Armageto · 2 pointsr/gaming

By far the most comfortable headset I have owned.. You can look up videos on reviews on it, and they will all say it's amazing

u/ubercritical · 2 pointsr/OutreachHPG

I recently bought a pair of HyperX Cloud II's to use with my PS4. They are extremely comfortable and have good sound quality. I have yet to give them a go with my PC because I have a separate DAC/AMP and Sennheiser HD600+ModMic setup but they come with a USB soundcard if that's your thing.

Really happy with the purchase. More than I originally thought I would be, honestly.

The HyperX Cloud I can be had for much cheaper than the Cloud II's and offer roughly the same performance without the inclusion of the USB soundcard. They also have two 3.5mm connections rather than one like the Cloud II's. Both also have a detachable mic.

The HyperX Clouds are based on the QPad QH-90 which is a derivative of Takstar Pro80's but with an added mic.

Options, options!

I'm looking at getting a new headset with a mic for gaming and online communication.

  • Budget: About $100 CAD. I can go a little higher, but I'd prefer to stay relatively budget-minded.
  • Source: They'll most commonly plug into either my PS4 controller, or my computer. I've heard some of the more powerful headsets need additional power or something? But they're probably outside of my budget anyway. I don't know if those would work out of a PS4 controller, either.
  • Requirements for Isolation: I'll be using it at home, so there's not a big need for isolation, although sometimes I use it at night, and don't want to wake the family.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone: I guess the best ones for gaming would be full-sized or something? I don't have much experience with headphones, just the occasional IEM and my current headset, which is:
  • Past headphones: Microsoft LX-3000. It's not the greatest thing in the world, but it was $30, and that was really all I cared about. It creaks/rubs whenever I turn my head, move my jaw, or otherwise make any motion, which transfer directly into my ears. It's a plasticky, irritating sound, but I don't know if that's just a characteristic of headsets in general, or just the cheap ones.
  • Preferred tonal balance: Not an audiophile, so I'm gonna go with balanced? I probably wouldn't notice the difference.

I went to the purchase assistant, and looked at the options there. I was thinking of a SHP9500 with the V-Moda boom, but I'm hearing both praise and criticisms at the 9500. Also, I was only able to find them for $130, which is a little more than the ~$60 USD the assistant had. The alternatives I'm looking at are the Superlux 668B ($57), 681 (about the same price), or the 681-EVO ($72). However, I don't know if there's compatibility between the V-Moda and any of these, I've never used a mic that didn't come attached to the headset before. If I look for an all-in-one package, maybe a HyperX Cloud ($104)? I'm just going by the recommendations in the Assistant page here, I've got no idea what I'm doing, I just want the best value for my dollar, and a headset that doesn't creak.

I'd say def don't go much over 100. The thing is though that for Destiny, there are not very many subtle sound cues like in a COD. These [HyperX Cloud] are what I have though and are the best sounding headset/headphones that I've ever had, IMO way better Beats.

I always hear about how good Hyper X Clouds are for the money even though they're "gaming" headphones. They have a second version out too. I'm not sure how complicated it is hook up headphones to the current gen consoles, but it was kind of a pain on PS3, so they might be worth a shot if you're on a PS4 or something. But everyone is right though, "gaming" headsets normally are really overpriced turds.

u/TheTsel · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

u/illithidbane · 2 pointsr/samsung

My current model is 2-3 years old. My battery died. 30 minutes from full charge to dead. So I hopped on Amazon and got a $15 replacement, now I'm good for all day use again. No replaceable battery? Come on man. I like water resistance as much as the next guy, but it's an expiration date on my phone.

Now the 3.5mm goes and sure, I have a bluetooth speaker for music around the gaming table at home, but my headphones are 3.5 and I don't intend to replace them.

I'm getting less psyched about the S8 with ever leak. No removable battery even after the Note7 disaster. No 3.5 jack because Apple jumped off the bridge so Samsung wants to jump too. No dual-camera in back for some reason. If they drop the SD card again too, I'll lose all respect for them.

u/clearwater007 · 2 pointsr/xboxone

If you don't want to go Turtle Beach, I recommend HyperX Clouds. $60, normally $100 on Amazon. Been using them the past few weeks with no complaints other than you'll need the Xbox headset adapter.

^Take a look at this one.

I've had the G430 myself and there's two huge downsides:

AKG K452 High-Performance On-Ear Headphones with In-line Microphone - White

Sony-MDR-V55

Creative HS800 Fatal1ty Gaming Headset with Detachable Noise-cancelling Microphone

AKG 452

Corsair CA-9011125-EU Vengeance 2100 USB Wireless Dolby 7.1 Comfortable Gaming Headset - Gunmetal Grey

Edit : http://www.reddit.com/r/headphones

In the headphones community most people agree the HyperX Cloud's are the only headset worth buying, and the best thing to do is buy a pair of nice headphones, like sennheisers and add a mic like the modmic or zalman clip.

No worries.

I would recommend checking out this video and seeing if you think it makes a difference to you first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnpLUlD20z8 ... I use an Astro Mixamp for my console gaming and wanted to try out a soundcard for my first pc build so I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Blaster-Performance-Headphone-Forming-Microphone/dp/B009ISU33E/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1415131668&sr=8-13&keywords=asus+xonar ... Got it for $70 on sale, btw. With that said, I personally enjoy having the soundcard. I like having 3d sound emulation from my stereo headsets and personally I can hear a difference between the different technologies. I like the THX (same as SBX I believe) for it's overall accuracy and immersion. With that said, the soundcard is also useful for playing around with equalizer settings, using a voice changer in game (just for fun) and for managing multiple audio sources on one pc: for example, I have my headphones plugged into the card as well as my 2.1 speakers and can choose which one I want outputting sound at any given moment. Additionally the soundcard has an on board amp which helps if you have hard to drive headphones. I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary to get a soundcard as you could download and try out the razer sound software for free, but if you have the available funds and perhaps a Frys around you (or another retailer that has a great return policy on open products) I'd say give it a try. So in summary it's up to you and your budget but I'm enjoying mine.

On a side note, if you don't already have headphones/headset, check this out: http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415132242&sr=8-1&keywords=cloud+hyper

HyperX Cloud Pro Silver: 80$, Headband foam and inline audio control

Use that for the psu. Top quality and oodles of power. Next get a new hdd. You'll want to store a lot of your streams if you're serious about streaming heavily. Set up your streaming program to record the stream so that you can upload it elsewhere when the VOD gets taken down.

Monitor is really up to you. You have the gpu power to play at decent setting on 1440, but as you're streaming I'd keep it at 1080p if i were you. My advice there is get 2. Play on one, watch chat and manage stream with the other. Something like this should work:

Mic. Mics can cost anywhere from $10 to $10000. Something like the <Blue Yeti> is great quality sound yet simple enough to be used by a (excuse the use of the word) amateur. On the cheaper side there's the <Blue Snowball>. It's a plug and play design that delivers good quality sound without needing to fuss over settings.

Headset. Whatever you like. Your audiance isn't listening through them, you are. I personally use a <HyperX Cloud> headset that while it doesn't have pro level audio delivers a good sound for gaming and is the most comfortable set of cans I've ever used. This is 100% up to you though.

I have no experience with webcams. If someone else would like to chime in about webcams please do. I know nothing.

Video editing. Step 1 get a new hhd. The software you edit with doesn't matter so much. Some people can do great things with shitty programs. I personally use Adobe premier. Its not very good but its very simple and has everything I need. Some people get away with using windows movie maker even. My advice is take a look around video editing forums/subreddits and download a free trial of a few programs. See which one you like the most and stick with it. The reason I tell you to get a new hdd is because depending on the quality you'll fill space fast. A raw uncompressed 1080p recording fills 20gb in 5 minutes. That said uncompressed is a stupid amount and data. However compressing eats cpu power and will fill space anyway. When i record I usually save as 720p30hz and that usually fills a several gb an hour. So in a month of streaming/recording you may fill that hdd and either need to get another or you'll need to edit and upload everything to make space for more footage. The only other option here is to make a large storage system. If you want to keep ALL you're footage I suggest you look into getting a small/med storage server, though I assume for your purposes just editing and uploading should be enough.

Best of luck streaming and have fun.

Hyper x Clouds plus a dss2 amp used on ebay will get you the same sound as Astro A40's at a price tag under $100 - or right at $100 if you don't already have a controller adapter. Turtle Beaches are okay, but they're plasticy and if you run them through your controller they're going to be the same stereo sound as your current Afterglows and you'll be disappointed

The Hyper X Cloud is a great headset, had mine for about a year. It's super comfortable, great sound quality, the mic is removable, and it works on all systems.

u/LeModigs · 1 pointr/xboxone

I recommend the Cloud HyperX! They're pretty damn cheap ($70) and are hands down the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. Not only do they sound amazing with the gaming but using them as regular headphones as well makes music sound incredible.

Not only that but the mic is detachable, it comes with veldt or leather ear cushions, can be used with PC and PS4 EASILY, and it comes with all the adapters you'll need minus the XB1 chat adapter. I've used Trittons and Turtle Beach and nothing compares to the comfort of these headphones.

Only downside is they kind of eat batteries but I just use a wired controller anyway.

This: HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset

I've went through different headsets under $100 for the past 10 years, and this is the best one I've had so far. It's comfortable, surprisingly light (just over half a pound), and seems durable (aluminum build, wires protected by nylon fibers instead of plastic to prevent curls).

The only weak point that I can tell is its detachable mic; you can't rotate it away from your face so you have to keep attaching/detaching it. Besides this annoyance, the frequent attach/detaching could damage the mic plug and port over time.

Stay the fuck away from Turtle Beach headsets. They only lasted up to 6 month or so for me.

u/AnotherRandomPCB · 1 pointr/buildapc

You might want to try the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset, seem like good value.

I got it about a week ago at a friend's reccomendation, and it's working well so far, sounds good, feels comfortable, and mic seems okay too. Aluminum frame is nice too, seems sturdy.

HyperX Cloud Gaming Heaset

Either Camtasia or Xsplit OR Shadowplay Recorder

Audacity for commentary recording (Didn't used to do this but will probably start depending on audio quality of the HyperX coming today)

That's pretty much it. I know people say standing mics are better but having a mic in front of me hurts my eyes and fucks with my depth perception. (On my desk, not on a boom stand. I don't have money for anything like that lol)

HyperX Cloud gaming headset. It's super comfortable (comes with leather and suede ear pieces), comes with multiple accessories to work with all devices (phone, xbox one, ps4, and pc), and it's a great bargain!

not sure what your budget is, but the hyperx clouds are based off of much more expensive sets and are most likely made way, way, wayyy better than anything from plantronics that was mentioned here for $19.

http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98

if you have to have a headset and not just headphones + modmic, and dont want to spend a few hundred on beyerdynamic mmx300 (what the hyperx are based off of basically, what i have used for a few years. these are truly bifl, they are absolute tanks) or the sennheiser game zero i would highly recommend the clouds at around $90.

just not sure how buy for life a plasticy $19 set is gonna be....

also, dont worry about 5.1 or 7.1 in a headphone. it doesnt actually do anything. you still only have 2 speakers, 1 in each side. 5.1 in headphones is a lie. any decent set will let you know the directions of sounds without fake 5.1.

most of the so called "gaming headsets" are nothing but crap. they may look flashy and have flashy features, but in the end most are just crap. turtle beach, siberia, razer headsets. just avoid them. get real headphones or something at least from a company that makes headphones and you will be much happier.

That link is I think from /g/, so it has that kind of tact to it.

However 5.1 and 7.1 headsets are pure gimmicks, stereo is great. Here, Here and Here are examples of what can be done through stereo in regards to positional sound.

For a mic you could use this and for the headphones these, these, these, these or these. Headsets that don't completely suck are these or these.

I've been looking into getting a headset and I was either going to get the SteelSeries Serbia V2 or the Hyperx Cloud but i got recommended [this] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=26U53TNS2CUQM&coliid=I1RJ68F25WDC11 ) and this but are these truly going to be better than just getting a headset?

u/Lord_Thash · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

For peripherals I would recomend:

For mouse I would recomend The Corsair m65 as I have used it in the past to play FPS's and it felt super good.

For keyboard I would say get the FUNC kb-460 As it is what I have, and I love it more than other more expensive mechas. If you don't like the red and black color, tell me and i'll find you another one.

Headset: I recomend the [Kingston Hyperx cloud] (http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1427246371&sr=1-2&keywords=kingston+hyperx) as it is widley cosidered the best headset on the market for its low price, good audio quality, and fantasic mic.

Lastly, if you wanna play some CSGO with me when you finish your build, hit me up on steam, my username is brickbreak503

u/Parallelines · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

wait, you should totally get the Cloud Headset if you can. The build quality on it is so much better than that of the Steelseries. It goes on sale pretty often recently, i've seen it as low as $60 every now and then.

I also looked at ones without a microphone such as the Superlux HD668B and the Philips SHP9500. Thoughts on these?

Advice: Gaming and Movie/Music: Headphones

I am looking for two headphones.
a. Gaming with Mic
b. Wireless for Movies, Music. Wireless as I want something that I can wear while moving around my room.

For gaming, I found the following one from WireCutter.com
Kingston KHX-H3CL/WR HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset - Black

For music and movies, wireless ones I need some inputs. Here are few that I have come across

  1. Audio-Technica ATH-SR5BTBK Bluetooth Wireless On-Ear High-Resolution Audio Headphones

  2. https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-S700BT-SonicFuel-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B015N52XDI

  3. Sennheiser RS 175 RF Wireless Headphone System

    Budget: for gaming Under 100$
    Wireless one: Under 150$

If there is good wireless headphone with mic do let me know. Something that I can use both for gaming and music

I'd be careful about the G930. It worked well for me for a year or so. amazing headset.
now in order to make it work i have to fiddle with the charging port in the headset "breaks easily" and it disconnecting all the time for no apparent reason. Like i said, it sounds amazing. I believe they have a 3 year warranty on them, so if you do get them make sure to keep the receipt and you should be good to go. logitech is usually pretty good about warranty, mines out of warranty or i would get them sent in.

This is my first time really looking for some serious headphones now that I have some disposable income.

Budget: $100

Source Onboard audio from my motherboard. I am not an audiophile by any means, plus I don't have that much desk space, so I feel as if a DAC/Amp wouldn't be worth it for me.

Usage: Almost entirely for PC gaming.

Isolation Would really only be using these at home, so not necessary.

Will you be using these headphones in public? Nope/

Preferred Type of Headphone: Over the ear

Preferred Tonal Balance: I would say more balanced.

Past Headphones Currently I am using a Logitech G430 headset for mainly Discord chatting, as well as a discontinued AKG K141 that I found in my dad's music stuff. I love the sound of the AKG but I find them extremely uncomfortable after a while.

Preferred Music: Classic rock in all sorts of genres. Mainly heavier sounding bands like AC/DC.

From looking around this sub and from Amazon recommendations, I have found that people tend to recommend the Sennheiser 558 or the HyperX Cloud. I know gaming headsets are frowned upon here, but I have heard that the HyperX Cloud is better than most other ones, and I do like the built in mics of headsets, although I do have a desktop mic as well.

I like these because the fact the mics are removable/retractable so i could use them to listen to music. They also fit in my budget nicely under $100. I have seen some people like a headphone + attachable mic combo instead. What would anyone recommend for a mic and headphones combo under $100 good for gaming and music? Don't do it. Get these Sennheisers instead. Better build quality and sound and better mic. Probably not worth $300, but I'd get em for $140. Or look at the Hyper X Cloud for $80 or Hyper X Cloud II's for a little more.. Linus Tech Tips gave really good reviews on them.

Edit: If you ask anyone serious about audio they'll tell you to get nice headphones and a separate mic. I got some Sennheiser 558's for about $100 and a Zalman clip-on mic for ~$8. It's a little more of a hassle dealing with 2 cords, but the sound quality and comfort is awesome. Couldn't be happier.

Edit 2: or just get the A40's. I don't know a whole lot about them, but have read that Sennheisers are superior for sound quality.

Virtual 7.1 is worthless. Also, if you're considering spending 300$, no headset will do you any good in that price range.

You'd be far better off getting a actual proper pair of headphones, like the Sennheiser HD598's or the Philips Fidelio SPH9500's if you want to spend a little less. To go along with one of those, get a decent studio mic, like the Blue Snowball or the Audio Technica ATR2500

If you want the microphone to be integrated to the the headphone, look no further than the ModMic 4.0

If you want a good little headset for relatively cheap, just get the Kingston HyperX Clouds. They beat practically any other headset out there, aside from like Sennheiser Game Zero's and Beyer MX300's, but those are over 3 times the price usually.

u/Tegolin · 1 pointr/Gaming_Gear

I recommend the Kingston HyperX Clouds. They come with 2 types of ear pads: leatherette and velour. I prefer the velour because they are light over my ears and breathe better. You can literally have a conversation with someone else while wearing the headphones with the velour pads on.

So I'm looking at HyperX Cloud by Kingston (https://www.amazon.ca/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98) and I just mostly have a question about their audio quality.

I keep seeing to find a lot of opinions that are very conflicting in regards to their audio quality, some saying they are pretty good while other's saying they are okay. I just want to know if these would be suitable for listening to a variety of music as I don't wish to spend money on headphones just for gaming but a more general all purpose that can be used for gaming. So would their sound quality be enough for that or should I try looking elsewhere.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I figured a question about a specific product would fit here as well.

u/JustSomeGoon · 1 pointr/xboxone
  1. It's Audio Technica

  2. The headset adapter was discontinued because it was a massive piece of shit that broke after a week and it wouldn't help you anyway because all it had was a 3.5 jack and volume controls. Your controller has the jack anyway.

  3. Not sure if a splitter will work but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work I love my HyperX but Astros are also popular.
u/incrediblemink · 1 pointr/PUBGXboxOne

Personally I use the old Astro Mixamp RX with Audio Technica AD700s and a MicMod. Been using this set up since MW2 but most of the items are discontinued.

I've been hearing a lot of people suggesting the HyperX Cloud's though. Good headset for the price. I suggest spending at least around $100 for a decent setup. You'll be better off in the end than buying some Turtle Beaches for $60ish. Having a good headset will seriously change the way you play and enjoy games.

Quite pleased with the quality of the headset. My only gripe is it's not a single ear... Girlfriend's unfortunately ignored more frequently when wearing these bad boys.

u/SauronDidNothingRong · 1 pointr/headphones

Thanks for your recommendation! I'm thinking pretty heavily about the Hyperx Cloud for right now. The only thing I'm worried about is the 3.5mm jack. Like I said, I really like a headphone with a solid low-end. Every headset I've bought that was 3.5mm had a really weak bass compared to my P11s (which are USB). Turtle Beach claims the P11s have bass amplification powered by the USB which is probably just marketing, but I haven't had any good experiences with 3.5mm jack audio so far. Can a 3.5mm jack headphone have a strong bass? It doesn't feel like those ports could give off much power.

EDIT: And this is the headset you're referring too correct? I don't know if there are other models

u/spang1025 · 1 pointr/gaming

I believe you can use a headset for both and that is why Microsoft created an adapter here.

As a poster above offered the Hyper X Cloud, which would be a good choice and both the headset and adapter would come in under $100, you can find those here.

I'm always quick here to suggest the Kingston HyperX Cloud Gaming headset. I've gone through quite a few headsets and I came across these a year ago and they work beautifully. They are supper sturdy, super comfortable, and are noise canceling, and of course have excellent sound quality. They run right at $70 on Amazon and that's a great deal for this headset. I paid $100 for a set of plastic turtle beaches that broke in 6 months.

Also, I honestly can't remember if they are usb, I know they have stereo and mic connectors for sure but if you give me a few minutes I'll go check my pair that's plugged in. However, you should invest in a USB adapter for audio and mic. I'll link both items below from Amazon.

My current headphones, the Hyperx Cloud, is shorting out in one ear. I'm thinking of repairing the cord myself or take it to a repair shop. However, I would to have something in mind just in case that doesn't work out. I might just buy a set of HyperX Cloud Pros, replace mine, or get one of the better versions. Currently using some small, bad sound quality, but durable in-ear headphones for the moment.

  • Budget: $50-$70 USD. Highest I'll go is $80.

  • Source: My PC and my TV (using a RCA adapter)

  • Requirements for Isolation: I would like enough so someone 5 ft. away can't hear what I'm listening to, but I would like to be able to hear people that are trying to talk to me.

  • Will you be using these Headphones in public? Nope, I have small in-ear headphones as stated above.

  • Preferred Type of Headphone: On-ear or full-sized

  • Preferred tonal range: Not sure

  • Past headphones: HyperX Cloud. Everything about these headphones were amazing, my only problem was that the wires are not very high quality as one of the extension cords started shorting out and now the main headphone cord is doing the same thing, also the cords are prone to becoming tangled (might be my own fault) and becoming unable to ever be fully straight again, since the braiding and the plastic will come off (again, part of it is from being tangled up so much). Also I have a big head so I could do with some bigger headphones. If it wasn't for the bad wires, I wouldn't replace them unless I got enough money to buy some real high quality ones that are over $100

  • Preferred Music: Mostly soundtracks from video games and TV. Youtube playlist of some of the stuff I listen to. Also a Spotify playlist
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up? Better cords, but other than that nothing in particular.

I usually play games like Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Factorio, Minecraft, Kerbal Space Program, Terraria, Mass Effect, Rust, Garry's Mod, and Dark Souls. I watch a lot of Youtube videos, anime, and TV shows like Supernatural, Game of Thrones, and House of Cards. A built-in microphone is required as I don't have enough room in my current setup for a regular microphone.

My birthday is coming up and my parents asked me what I would like. Since I need a new gaming/music headset anyway:

  • HyperX Cloud II or

  • HyperX Cloud Revolver

I've read good things about both but get some conflicting reviews when looking on Amazon vs. Newegg. It sounds like the Cloud Revolver is solidly constructed and sounds good but it doesn't appear to have a USB plugin (is this a problem?). The Cloud II does have a USB plugin. My current headset is wireless via a dongle, but all other wired headsets I've used have been through the audio jack so I'm not sure what the difference between USB input vs. audio jack input is. Those two are probably my top choices but I also looked at the regular Cloud and the Cloud Stinger. One last thing: I love my music but I've never had a true audiophile headset/headphones so I'm just looking for something that sounds pretty good without a fantastic soundcard, etc.

u/Cerubellum · 1 pointr/ConsumerAdvice

In my experience with headsets, if you buy something more expensive it will last longer and be worth the cost plus you will get better equipment as well, so although it is 50% over your budget I would recommend the HyperX Cloud Gaming headset: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-Mobile/dp/B00JJNQG98

You can find a review by Linus Tech Tips of it here. I used to use Sennheiser PC 350 - which are good bit more expensive than these - and although the sound quality in those is definitely better and the mic as well, I like the build quality a lot better in the HyperX (The leather ear pads, braided cords and leather headband especially) and the sound is not bad at all. Linus also rattles off a lot of other gaming headsets and as I have only ever used three headsets, two of which are way out of your price range, I would encourage you to peruse their videos for alternatives.

Budget: $120-170

Source: PC on-board audio. Mostly music and some gaming.

Isolation: Closed. I work from home but sometimes my bro plays Xbox on the TV in the same room.

Preferred Type: Over-ear

Tonal Balance: I like bass but also all around balance would be good.

Past Headphones: SMS Streets by 50 IEMs. I really like the isolation and bass on them.

Preferred Music: Jazzy music, instrumentals like Bonobo, Zero 7, Nujabes when I'm chilling, and dubstep/trance mixes when I'm working.

I spend a lot of time on my PC (I watch movies, work and game on it) especially over weekends, so I'd like comfy headsets I can wear for extended periods.
I was initially looking at the HyperX Cloud headsets, but browsing around the net and this sub the last few days keep bringing me to the Audio Technica ATH-M50x headsets and I'm willing to sacrifice the built-in mic for better sound. I'm not an audiophile but I once listened to Sennheisers and I absolutely loved how good the music sounded.

So, I'd appreciate some suggestions. The M50s are quite pricey so I'd like some alternatives.

Thanks guys, looking forward to the epic experience.

I currently have JVC HANC250s, but I need a microphone to be able to talk to people while gaming. I did some research and it seems like I can do one of two things. Buy a new headset or buy an attachable mic. After some research it seemed like the HyperX Clouds or a ModMic would be my best choices.

So I was hoping to get an opinion on which choice would be better, adding a ModMic to my existing JVCs for $40, or spending an extra $35 and getting HyperX Clouds. Or, if there's a better gaming headset for that price range, those.

The "required" info is below, but maybe not 100% applicable to this situation.

------

Budget - Can spend the extra $30 for HyperX's, but would obviously like to spend less if the trade-offs aren't worth it.

Source - Almost entirely my PC. Definitely no amps or anything fancy.

Requirements for Isolation - Almost entirely used at home, so no isolation necessary. Either way, I could still use my JVCs for travel, etc.

Preferred Type of Headphone - I like my on ear JVCs even if they can be somewhat uncomfortable if I don't sit them correctly. I imagine the HyperXs would be a little more comfortable.

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced would be good, but everybody likes bass. I'm not an audiophile or anything, so it's not a huge deal.

Preferred Music - Going to be listening to music (rock, blues, funk, alternative, etc.), as well as playing games with big explosions and talking to people on TeamSpeak/ventrillo.

Location - Canada

Hey, they are on sale this week.

u/smoakleyyy · 1 pointr/xboxone

Highly highly highly recommend the Hyperx Cloud Gaming Headset (will include a link here in a second)

They were designed by companies involved with actual headphone design, and sound AMAZING if you run them through either a DSS2/Astro mixamp/any headphone amp. They sound pretty good w/o, but their impedance is about double what you find on normal console headsets, so an amp really brings out the quality sound.

Also, they are the most comfortable headset I've ever used, and the mic is detachable. They look good and they feel like they are made for quality. And the packaging is top notch. Price is good too.

It comes with all the adapters you need (except obviously the Xbox one stereo headset adapter) and works on PC, PS4, your phone, and the xbox (with adapter).

Price varies wildly, I was able to catch mine during Amazon's "green monday" or something sale @ 65 bucks. I would easily have paid full price for these.

u/ScootiepuffJUNIOR · 1 pointr/gaming

My best suggestion is save a bit more and go for this pair. Only slightly out your price range and they're very common in the gaming community among consumer and professional players, higher quality than similarly priced units and very sturdily manufactured. You may not recognize Hyper X but it's Kingston a tenured manufacturer in the PC community.

u/About7fish · 1 pointr/xboxone

Headset, fairly priced, high quality. You have to pick two.

Having said that, HyperX makes the least worst headsets. If you could spring the extra dough I'd get a Cloud. It's essentially a rebranded Takstar Pro 80 (which are closed back and bass heavy, if you're into that sound signature) with a mic on it. You could do far worse for 70 bucks, and many frequently do.

u/Khalon · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - €200, but if you have the perfect headphone for me don't let that hold you back!

Country - The Netherlands (I have access to Amazon.de)

Source - PC, preferably with a ViModa Boom Pro

Requirements for Isolation - Passive Isolation

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full-sized

Preferred tonal balance - Overall balanced

Past headphones - HyperX Cloud

Preferred Music - I listen to a wide variety but mainly listen to these kinds for music. ;"Cage The Elephant (Rock), Biggie Smalls (Hip-Hop) and Adventure Club (Electronic)"

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - More comfortable, better sound and preferably a detachable cable.

u/JoeyPhillips · 1 pointr/TheWeeknd

I use these.
I've gone through a lot of headsets and these have been my favorite, most comfortable and longest lasting I've owned.
They also have a detachable mic.

u/tPRoC · 1 pointr/trap

Get the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset.

It's a re-branded Takstar Pro80 with a mic attachment, which has had some very favorable reviews from some serious audiophiles. For under a hundred bucks, the sound quality and build quality are unparalelled IMO.

They are V-shaped headphones which basically means the frequencies are slightly boosted in the low end and high end- this is the sort of frequency response that Beats headphones are famous for. That said, these are way better than Beats in every way.

They're also closed headphones, which means they lock in and keep out sound- which is what you want for a bassy pair of cans.

Basically, they're decently bassy, cheap, and well-built. They aren't the bassiest headphones made (probably not even the bassiest under $100) but as far as sub-$100 headphones goes these are the best deal you'll get, speaking overall.

Bass headphones are kind of a ruse though. If you want to get serious about bass get a subwoofer or a subpac. Headphones just can't replicate that.

u/millsWhy · 1 pointr/CoDCompetitive

You should get this monitor and ditch that headset and this one with this mixamp.

Not a huge fan of Astro headsets, so that is why i use the Hyper X Cloud I's with an Astro A40 mixamp, but if you want, you can get the whole Astro A40 package for $250

u/Hippocrap · 1 pointr/PS4Planetside2

u/TacticalPopsicle · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

There's tons of good options sub $100, HyperX Clouds are really popular on this sub, I haven't tried them myself but my friends like it and the reviews look good.

If you want a split headphone/mic system, audiotechina and sennhieser are pretty good that have headphones in sale somewhat often. Just be sure to get a decent mic like the snowball although this mic might push you over your budget with the headphonws i listed. Theres good headphones by phillips and monoprice that are ~$50 o keep you under $100. Or a cheap clip on like this zalman one I use this mic and the only issue I have is that theres no mute button but most chat programs have one so its not too bad.

As for the mic issue have you tried playing with the windows setting and your chat program? You could boost your mic and adjust the threshold to not pick up your breathing noises

u/enderflame · 1 pointr/headphones

If you can, go for the HyperX Cloud. Amazon usually has them from 55-80$, so I recommend getting it refurbished from Kingston themselves on ebay (which can go as low as 40 dollars if you go for the "Core" model).

Budget - Flexible limit of $80

Source - My computer mobo is a low tier Gigabyte B85 mobo. Considering picking up a Asus Xonar DG to substitute for the crappy mobo sound. Using for games and music

Requirements for Isolation - Don't care too much

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full sized.

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced

Past headphones -
Astro A30s- yeah, sort of a mistake from the past. Pretty uncomfortable on ears, didn't think the sound was the best I've heard, and for some reason they were fucked up in Counter Strike

Sennheiser HD 202- Liked the sound in music and games, but absurdly uncomfortable. CABLE WAS TOO DAMN LONG

Preferred Music- Electronic

So I want some good headphones for Counter Strike Global Offensive and music. I think I've narrowed it down to a few options, but any other advice would be cool.

It's down to Superlux HD 681s and a Zalman clip on Mic that's like 10 to 20 bucks

ATH M30xs with a Zalman mic

Or HyperX Clouds which usually go on sale for 55-70 dollars. Sorry for the essay, but hopefully you guys can help me out.

No. Just not. Those are not even close to decent! No wonder you don't hear any difference.

You shuold have saved the money for the FiiO, waited a bit and gotten something like the beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Audio Technica ATH-M50x or AKG K-271 MKII. Those would be some "decent" headphones, for which a nice DAC/Amp combo would worthwhile in the long run.

u/MRMALTIES · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm using the HyperX Cloud Headset.

You can get them from Amazon here. And it's really not unnecessary hype, the headsets truly are extremely comfortable and the 53mm drivers help. :)

I also chose these over the SONY Golds, as comfort for me plays a big deal in buying a headset. Also, the aluminum construction made me sway towards these headsets more.

u/morsecodec · 1 pointr/darksouls3

Hyper X

These are GREAT and fairly cheap!

u/broken42 · 1 pointr/wow

Honestly if you don't need the USB sound card, you can get the Hyper X Clouds for ~$70 as time of writing

u/3agl · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have heard good reviews on hyperx clouds

but really gaming headsets tend to be made out of very cheap materials and sacrifice driver quality for marketing.

ATH M40x's or M50x's, and a decent xlr mic will probably last longer too, not to mention compatability and modularity with other mics and other audio interfaces.

u/userrnam · 1 pointr/Twitch

I'd recommend the Blue Snowball as a good mic choice, and HyperX Cloud for audio. It's what I'm currently using.

I'd never recommend using a headset mic for streaming, but if you're in that situation, the HyperX does have a very nice sound as far as headset mics go.

u/rootbeerfetish · 1 pointr/titanfall

If you like modding then again you can do the exact same things to headphones that actually sound better. I'm not saying "you're so dumb" for liking the convenience of gaming headphones. And sure you might not be looking for the best quality. But when you can achieve that quality for usually less than the gaming counterpart and keeping in mind you can spray paint those or whatever just as easily I don't really see your point.

Gaming is for fun. Isn't being totally immersed or being impressed by the quality of that super cool explosion fun too? I'm not even saying you should be an audiophile at all. You can easily build a gaming headset that sounds MUCH better that you can also mod if thats you're jam for cheap.

And again if you like fiddling around with your setup then headphones (not headsets) give you way more options as sometimes gaming headsets limit your sources, dacs, amps, pads, cables. ect ect to what they had in mind out of the box.

Edit - also if you don't want to deal with non-gaming headphones. There's at least a few pairs out there that still give you decent quality (usually better than the $200+ headphones like razer sometimes offers for example) and does not hurt the wallet.

u/Legienstrasse · 1 pointr/PS4Planetside2

Although not one of the options you listed, here is my suggestion. I had the Sony Pulse headset, and thought those were nice, then I bought these (which are repurposed entry level audiophile phones with a mic) and never looked back.
They're cheap, but they sound better than my Pulse. They're very very clear (nearly too much so), but the bass are also full and present. The directionality is very precise. Extremely durable too. I've had mine for a few years now, and they still feel new.

I sound like I'm marketing but they're really good (especially compared to most gaming headsets I had). I just had to spread the word.

u/freddils · 1 pointr/buildapc

I've definitely been thinking about that. Sennheiser is hard to beat. What would you recommend for a mic if I were to go that route. I have had my eye on the Kingston HyperX cloud as an all in one solution.

u/throwawaymachine6000 · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - $60

Source - PC

Requirements for Isolation - Some? A lot? If it's connected to how much sound leaks then a lot

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over or on-ear, not into double headbands

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced/neutral I guess, I do everything (lots of gaming, music, and movies/tv) so not too bassy

Past headphones - Skullcandy Hesh 2

Preferred music - Metal mostly (prog, heavy, etc.) and dubstep/indie rock/etc. genre occasionally

What would you like to improve on from your set-up? - My current ones are perfect for everything except they leak sound badly, anything above 50 volume you could probably clearly hear what I'm listening to.

I'm considering the HyperX Cloud headset but I don't know if I want "gaming" headphones.

If you're looking for something specifically for gaming, check out the Kingston HyperX Cloud or even the Kingston HyperX Cloud II if you can spare the extra $15 over your budget. I've heard pretty good things about them but haven't used them personally.

On the other hand, if you want something a little more music/all-around oriented, you could look into a more expensive closed-back can and an Antlion Modmic 2.0. That's currently the setup I'm using and I have no complaints.

u/mrfoozy · 1 pointr/headphones

Rule 1 purchase advice, etcetera etcetera

I'll save you some time and recommend the HyperX cloud before this thread is deleted.

It's slightly out of price range, but it is as durable as a headphone will be for such a price. The mic is removable. The cable is reasonably short and comes with an extension for desktop use.

u/RightclickWarrior · 1 pointr/headphones

Hello.

So, I'm looking to buy headphones, and I was recommended the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset and the HyperX Cloud II. Can anyone who owns one of these pairs of headphones answer my questions?

This is my current pair of headphones. It is really uncomfortable and makes my ears sore easily. It's very unlikely, but if you've owned the same pair of headphones, how do they compare to each other?

How is the leather? Will it break down like bonded leather?

How about the comfort? Does it squeeze on your head a bit? I wear glasses so this is an issue for me.

How much sound does it block? Because my current pair of headphones does not block sound at all. Not really looking for sound-blocking headphones (so I might not consider the second option for its noise blocking features), I just want block out background noises and my loud CPU fan.

And most importantly, the sound quality. The sound quality is important for me because I tend to play a lot of rhythm games and FPS games.

Thanks, and have a great day.

Drop the liquid cooler, headset, mouse, both NICs, and keyboard. Pickup an EVO212 (or whatever similar air cooling is compatible with that CPU/MB), Logitech G502 mouse and decent antighosting keyboard along the HyperX Cloud. Should be about the same $.

I'm using an MS Sidewinder X4 keyboard, but you may not be able to get them anymore. The Corsair K30 and Logitech G105 look ok after a quick search, but do your own further research.

Get this if you can man! It is closed though but still a decent sound stage with the closed design and it really does sound phenomenal like the same as 200 dollar headphones. The Cloud and the Cloud 2 are basically identical but the Cloud 2 comes with a 7.1 control box for PC and stuff. But the Cloud 1 comes with just standard control box pass through for muting and volume. Both work for everything basically that has a 3.5mm. The 1 has a separate mic and audio and the Cloud 2 has 1 4 pole with mic and audio combined so the 2 would work just straight into the PS4 controller where as the Cloud 1 would need to use and adapter that combines them. I know you said under 50 but for 67 it is great which is only slightly more than you said.
