there's a comic book of missed connections by Julia Wertz called I Saw You and a lot of them happen on bart. It reminds me soo much of this

I understand, sounds like we had pretty similar track records with her work. Don't bother with Drinking at the Movies at all, but the collection that she edited, I Saw You..., is still worth a gander.

I got into autobio comics via Craig Thompson, like a lot of people. They're probably my favorite genre now, but it's a rather male-dominated one. I'm a big fan of all of Jeffery Brown's autobio work; which is most of it. He portrays his characters with an odd combination of inhuman innocence and hyper-human selfishness.

The Jonathan Ames autobio The Alcoholic was pretty compelling as well, moreso than I expected.

In general, I think the autobio comic genre is pretty female accessible. This despite only being able to think of one good female aubio comic writer. Can you make any suggestions? Always up for something new!
