As of Friday I'm 3 weeks out now and yes, the first 2 weeks were a nightmare. I feel for you! Have a family member call the hospital again, or your ENT if possible! Tell them your pain level is at an ELEVEN, and that you cannot eat or drink. I told them that and was given liquid oxycodone. It may make you mildly nauseous (they also gave me something for that but I didn't need it), but it was the only way I could drink water and have soup.

I know it seems impossible, but you HAVE to drink water. Trust me, I really do know it feels like infinite knives, I would sometimes cry while I drank, but the moment your pain killers kick in, make it your job to drink as much as you can for as long as you can-- it may be your only chance until you're allowed to take more painkillers. And, you have to have some form of calorie intake. I had luke warm potato or mushroom soup (I'm vegetarian, you may prefer chicken broth etc-- no solids!) in between my sips of water. Your body needs nutrition to heal, and unfortunately it may hurt worse because your body is trying to keep you from starving, instead of just focusing on your throat.

Also! EMERGEN-C. I credit it with my healing going well once I finally started drinking water. Make sure it's completely dissolved, no chunks. I would mix 2 packets in my 40oz water bottle, so it was very diluted, but I would get a good amount of vitamins throughout the day.

ICE PACKS I bought 2 of these from Amazon one set comes with 2 packs but only 1 strap, so I bought 2 so that I could wrap both around either side of my neck, and also have a spare pair ready when those stopped being cold. I would also wear them as I took the oxy to make it even easier to drink (it's still hard, but possible now!)

A HUMIDIFIER! I can't recommend mine because it sucked, but get a humidifier that can pump out a lot of mist, sleeping was awful because my mouth opened and my throat would dry out. Mine helped slightly, but I'm sure if I could afford a better model it would've really helped.

Lastly, if you happen to live in a state where cannabis is legal, get CBD products. I had several packs of CBD gummies and they helped TREMENDOUSLY. you don't get high, it just dulls the pain by a lotttt.

Good luck!!
