I'm going to cheat and put my top three all time faves:

  1. My quilted mattress topper. I trusted the reviews on this one and omg my bed is the comfiest thing ever now.

  2. Comfy tank dress with pockets! I got it in black and it's super versatile to layer with and dress up or down.

  3. Acrylic three drawer makeup organizer to keep my makeup from covering every surface in my room!

I have it, and I use it for makeup storage, but to be honest, it's not my favorite. The drawers are really small. You can fit about 5 regular lipsticks in one drawer. For things like pencils and liners, you have to place it in diagonally, and then you can only fit 1 or 2. As I've been destashing I've been moving things out of this into my other storage containers. I mainly use it for hair ties/bobby pins and sample sizes of lotion and sunscreen.

If you want a better storage container for a good price, I swear by these.

u/lalizabk · 9 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

A lot of the bigger drawers that you'll see on this sub with some of our users are Muji drawers. They're reasonably priced compared to a lot of other options out there and are made well. They're out of stock on a lot of the bigger selections right now, but are supposed to be restocking shortly. I also like these drawers for a smaller option from amazon, so I can see what I'm looking for, as well as the handles. Hope that helps!

Definitely pick up at least a trial tube of pixie epoxy, and here is a blog post (not mine) about how to work with it: http://thepaintedmask.wordpress.com/2010/11/26/technique-working-with-fyrinnae-pixie-epoxy/

I haven't tried Darling Girl's Glitter Glue myself, but it's supposed to be like pixie epoxy but easier to blend with + it works with mattes! So that could also be another option. But you'll definitely want at least one of them as it will help with lasting power and color intensity (not my blog! /u/aikoekadan is the blogger for this one!).

Fyrinnae comes in little jars. What I like doing is flipping it over (bottom up) for a second and then using the eyeshadow that is on the lid of the jar. There's always enough for two eyes completely with leftover shadow for me!

I personally store my loose eyeshadows (and pretty much all my makeup) in these Interdesign clear drawers which I find pretty convenient. The drawers are removable which I find is super nice and here is a picture showing how much they hold.

Welcome! If you like it here, of course you should be here! Don't be afraid to post a picture if that's what you'd like to do, mostly everyone is very nice and any criticism is usually very constructive!

What size organizer are you looking for? Do you want one organizer to house everything, or are you looking for different pieces?

I think Sephora is great, but drugstore brands also have a lot to offer! Check out Ulta.com for drugstore brands and more mid-range brands that Sephora doesn't carry (Lorac being a major one!)

Acrylic storage boxes are the absolute BEST. Here are the ones I use:

I think rampant destruction is one of the things that you just have to be prepared for when you decide to have pets or small children, it comes with the territory :-) No matter how careful you try to be, the best you can do is plan on the fact that something will get destroyed, and try to make sure that it doesn't end with a trip to the emergency vet/hospital.

I have a very curious Great Dane who's now 16 months old. Even in his puppy days he was big enough to reach my vanity table-top and/or knock the table over. A few months ago I solved the problem entirely by moving my battlestation into my master closet, which is a walk-in. Dexter is afraid of the bathroom (which is between the bedroom and closet), so he won't go near it at all. It didn't sound like you have a place to put your stuff that's off-limits to the cats, so here are some other things I've done in the past to pet-proof my valuables-

  • Make everything as inaccessible as possible. Do you have free wall-space where you could mount a shelf that the cats can't get to? It would have to be high enough off the floor and far enough away from launching points for the cats to jump to, so it depends on how agile they are :-)

  • Make everything as stationary as possible. Velcro picture-hanging strips (like this) are great. Just put one side on the bottom of anything you don't want to be knocked over and the other side on the surface where it sits. Mirror, lamp, storage containers, etc.

  • Don't leave things dangling. I'm thinking primarily of lamp cords, but really anything that might make a tempting toy or get snagged when pets get the zoomies. Cords can be tacked down with cable clips or even taped down with duct tape.

  • Regarding lights - lamps with flexible necks might be a good option. If they're secured to the table, a cat hitting them should just move the lamp head instead of knocking the whole thing to the floor. LED lamps might also be a little more resistant to bulb breakage.

  • Don't leave any small items lying around. Containers for everything, seriously. I store my makeup in acrylic drawers like this and this. Both are pretty difficult to open without opposable thumbs. I got mine from Amazon, but they're really generic and you can find the exact same things on ebay. They're fairly light and could get knocked over, so I'd recommend the picture-hanging strips to secure them to the table/shelf/whatever. I bet you could also use adhesive-backed velcro to rig up little 'latches' on the drawers.

Sorry, I know, things like this get posted all the time. But I really enjoy my new set up and thought I'd post it. Here a are links to the organization things I bought :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004KKXA58

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CWZ0BLE

The desk was from target and so was the small lighted mirror. The big mirror I absolutely love and have had since I was 3.

Inside are palettes laying flat, and the pink boxes in the back are sugarpill cardboard boxes that they send products in with the lids cut off. I keep my blush and lashes in those, but the drawers don't pull out any further so they are tucked underneath.

My favorite organizational thing is my brush holder. But I made that so I can't link anything for it unfortunately

u/miss_shelleh · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Buy these from Amazon

I have them and they look cute!

u/allyforyou · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I got these three -
[Acrylic with drawers] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KKXA58/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), Acrylic lipstick storage (you can get this one a few bucks cheaper from another seller if you don't mind waiting for shipping), and this acrylic organizer

Here's a (maybe not too great) picture of them on my shelf! photo

If you have Amazon Prime you can get free 2 day shipping. I purchased all three for a total of $47.58 so a huge saving over buying just one original beauty box.

They're all sturdy thick (but not TOO thick) plastic. No fogginess or scratches on the surface or anything!

Bf here, here are the items I picked up for this:

Vanity:

Standing polish rack:

Cotton ball/swab holder:

Most of the polish there was not new, but I also picked up the China Glaze poolside collection (saw a recommendation for it somewhere on this subreddit) for some really summer-y colors and she seems to be happy with it:

u/justateburrito · 3 pointsr/wicked_edge

got it on amazon.

edit: As the bot below points out, the price fluctuates greatly, I think I paid $14ish.

Random fact: I just checked the order date and it was 3/16/13

u/TheKittenButcher · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

These are the drawers I have. I really like them! They stack well.

u/DeyCallMeTater · 3 pointsr/AskWomen

Whoa. They are upselling like crazy! No to etsy for this! That's too expensive. Are you in Canada? If so, here's a link to the Container Store drawers via Amazon CA

How many bags does she have? And how big are they? Like maybe standard pouches? You might only need something like two of those and maybe one of these. She could have the drawers put side by side, and then place that on top for lipsticks. Then maybe one of something like this to put her brushes in (without the lid). I ended up actually using cleaned out candle jars! I just used the candles until they were burnt out, then emptied out the remaining wax and store my brushes in there. It looks great. Here's an example of the jar...but seriously don't pay this much

u/speakstruth · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I got mine on Amazon but I've also seen them at the Container Store!

u/call_me_cthulhu_ · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

For either gift I'd really love a gift card. I just found out some great news and I want to save up to buy a couple of things. Feel free to look through posts I've made in other subs recently or PM me because we're not telling a lot of people yet :D

If it has to be a physical item then I'd love this or this because I need to work on organization before it drives me nuts. So C'mon...gimme.

EDITED: because I forgot to tell you two how absolutely stunning you both look today

u/obliquepeach · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Don't forget shipping. The nice thing about Amazon is that if you have problems with any seller, they're going to handle it for you. Their customer service is pretty great.

I have these. They're cheaper, sold by Amazon, and you can buy them in a 4 pack.

u/radiant_eclipse · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

That's actually really affordable. I ordered these off amazon. There's not the sturdiest but, for the price, they're pretty great.

u/FaytheReyn · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I actually built my own vanity (thanks to someone's reddit post, but its been so long, I can't remember now). I went to IKEA and got this shelf (the big one--they have two options size wise), screwed on 4 (not included) legs, and put up a mirror behind it.

Inside the shelf-now-vanity, I put these and put some of my palettes and all of my blushes in them. Most of my lippies go into this holder, and my mascara, brow, and lashes products go in this cool little drawer thing.

Lastly, my mom got me these for Christmas. Let me tell you, I can store so much stuff on them (I have one of each)! Also an owl jar is what is currently holding my clean brushes.

I never thought I'd need this much storage, and I feel a bit shamey writing this all out, but dang it if it isn't arelaxing place for me. :-)

they were kind of pricey but i live in a very tiny space and this works so well especially since they're stackable.

u/dashboarddiva · 1 pointr/makeuporganization

Here they are on Amazon :)

u/xafran · 1 pointr/MakeupRehab

I have a tiny little desk with a full sized mirror behind it. I keep it in my bedroom-- and it is so not travel friendly! Though it wouldn't take too long to break down, I still wouldn't want to break it down and put it back together.

I keep my brushes in these little jars I got from the Target dollar section. They're perfect. I use these to store all of my lipsticks, blushes and everything else. Currently I just have my palettes that don't fit sitting on top, but that kind of worries me. Things I use everyday, like foundation, moisturizer, etc, just sit out on my desk.

My ideal setup would be a traditional vanity-- like the Audrey Hepburn has in Breakfast at Tiffany's. :) I love that movie, and boy do I love that vanity.

I don't think it will be any different once I reach my goals. I haven't reached a stage where I want to reduce my current collection-- my current goals are just for decreasing the incoming! :)

u/normalcypolice · 1 pointr/Indiemakeupandmore

I mostly use the bead trays from Michael's for samples, but for full sizes/heavy rotation items I stick them in clear plastic drawers like this!

u/shamac13 · 1 pointr/Indiemakeupandmore

I'm at work right now, so I can't take any pictures, but if anyone's interested I can add some later. My storage is pretty hodge-podge because I don't have a lot of space, and I'm in the midst of trying to rearrange things in my room as well. I have three of these containers for my indies -- one for just lip products, and the other two for eyeshadows and face products. I also have one of those drawers for mainstream makeup (one drawer for face products, one for eyes, one for lippies). I've moved all my sample eyeshadow baggies to the box my Blackbox came in. I have separate makeup bags full of foil samples and one of deluxe samples (both indie and mainstream stuff).

I keep all of the bath/body products I often use in a two-drawer tower in the bathroom cabinet (daily things are in the shower or in the limited space on my bathroom counter. All of the bath and body products I have backlogs of (whipped/cream soaps, scrubs, lotion and body butters, bar soaps, bath melts, etc.) are in two separate decorative boxes -- a bigger one for full-size products, and a smaller one for the sample/mini sizes. It works since I only need to go in when something needs replacing. My skin glossing oils and body oils are currently on top of my armoire along with a bunch of candles.

For my perfumes, I recently found a pretty keepsake box at Ross; it's cardboard but stiff, and the perfect size vertically for all but my Midsummer Dreams Apothecary full-size bottle of Mermaid. The top lifts up and it secures with a magnet. It's the closest thing to what I was looking for, cheap, and pretty, so I'm happy with it! Right now I have my squat samples in there along with my full-size and bitsy-sized perfumes (they're sitting in two boxes from the Paintbox Soapworks sample soap set) as well as my full-size and sample solids (also contained in a smaller box). My regular-sized vial samples are all stored in bullet containers (I have three and need a fourth) -- I'm so glad I followed that recommendation from others here because it's perfect! The one thing I'm still struggling to find storage for are the longer sample vials that won't fit in the bullet containers. Right now I've got those in the used-up mini-candle jars from Bath & Body Works. I'd like to find something different where I can still stand them up, but I'll probably end up moving those to my perfume box as well.

So, yeah. It's a crazy system but it's what I've got, and I'm constantly trying to improve it. I just have no space for a vanity and little space for storage otherwise, so for now I have to make it work!

I think that one would be pretty cool. And if you need more organization within you could do something like this rather than the acrylic lipstick holders? Although I think that would actually be pretty fussy in that container...probably better in something square. this doesn't look right at all in the wicker...but the general shape is what I'm thinking, since it doesn't seem like you want drawers. Unless small, clear ones like this would do it for you.

u/ArcadiaRhodes · 1 pointr/MakeupAddictionCanada

I bought a muji 2-drawer in Toronto a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. It was $25ish?

I also have these

They're nice, but the muji drawers are much sturdier.

u/eatgeeksleeprepeat · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I bought a set of similar drawers on Amazon for $16. It fits perfectly on my bathroom sink and I keep a brush holder on top.

u/kensterss · 1 pointr/Cubers

I was thinking more along the lines of something like this

More of a display for everything not just single containers. I have single containers

I actually got one of these years ago at a yard sale. I used to use it for all my gamebits/screwdrivers but recently I'm using one of the drawers for my GBA games that I haven't got blank DS cases for...I go the DS case route...

Anyways it fit's all of your needs for the most part (not from container store and it's on the higher end of your price range with shipping...but if you look around maybe you'll find it cheaper. Look for makeup drawers...those seem to be what you want) and it seems to hold a lot of GBA games at least...GB/GBC games you'd have to lay down and stack them though so...idk.
