Bought these case for my SP4 and love it. Had it for a couple of months and like that it has a zippered pocket for the AC adapter, the pen, and the surface mouse.

My wife has that on her SP3 and we really like it.

I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJBDBUI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
We both think it is even better. Only one external pocket, but the zipper stops about 1/2" short on both sides which allows me to clip my pin on one side and stick my HDMI-mHDMI adapter in the other side. The handle comes in extremely handy as well.

This is the one I use. It lives in my Timbuk2 messenger bag.

Does anyone have a 12 inch laptop that they need a case for? I no longer need this and am looking to sell to someone for cheap.

I got the affordable Inateck Sleeve Case. It fits the SP4 with type cover nicely, though I keep the pen kind of sticking out of the front zipper pocket on it. Note I usually keep this inside of my laptop backpack for work, or a duffel bag when traveling light or visiting. So it is not my primary case/bag. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJBDBUI

Pros: Cheap (< 20 USD), High quality materials and build, secure fit

Cons: Corners of type cover sometimes end up getting bent, wish there were a better solution for pen storage

I carry mine (with the type cover attached) in one of these, and I really like it. Fits into my backpack easily enough, or I can carry it with the handle.

Not sure if it's what you're looking for but I have this one and I like it.

I bought this one for my SO. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJBDBUI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Very similar to the Procase. Almost practically the same considering how its advertised. Just smells like dank vagina once first open it.

I am using this for my sp4 m3

I can fit my charger and my display adapter in it. I just toss this in my large back for uni and had nothing happen to it, eventhough I keep heavy books in their too.
I am afraid though, that the zipper is very close to my device so I might go for the sleeve version with no zippers.
But as far as right now (3 months of usage) there are no scratches or any damage caused by zipper touching my surface.

I recently ordered a custom Timbuk2 bag to replace my sleeve, needed some more room and thought since I'm starting school again I'd splurge on a nice one I can use for work in a couple years too.

That said, Timbuk2 does have some smaller ones that sound like the size you're looking for. Not sure how much you want to spend but worth checking out.
