NO FABRIC.
I mean it. #1 rule. NO. FABRIC. Any other feature is secondary. Sooner than you realize your kid will be eating in this thing at least 3 times a day. Imagine having to wash spaghetti sauce and mac n cheese and peanut butter and berries and nasty, smashed banana chunks out of fabric 3 times a day. And how bad it stains. And how bad it stinks.
Fabric on high chairs should be against the freaking law.
I made the mistake of buying a fabric high chair. My son is almost 2. I'm so tired of the fabric I once thought was beautiful.
Look for something like this or like this or like this. IKEA has cheap plastic chairs that are perfect and wipe down in seconds. They're amazing. So easy to clean.

This is what we opted for and could be a fair compromise between yours and your husband’s picks. Looked easy to clean (no vinyl fabric all over it), has a tray overlay so the whole tray doesn’t have to be washed, has wheels, transitions to a toddler booster, comfortable price point for us, not heinous looking.
