Dunno why people are suggesting tripods when he said they take up too much floor space...
I have been using these super long curtain rods (running from floor to ceiling) + gopro camera mounts for 2 years without issue:

I can’t link the amazon pages right now, but I got these shower rods that go floor to ceiling and ball camera type mount with a clasp on rods. Takes up less floor space and pretty sturdy.
Edit:
Rods
mount
Worth every penny just add pipe brackets for camera and you have a mobile rod tracking
Floor to ceiling very stable I had it for 2 years move them in seconds

Looks good and can be reused over and over again.
I used these for the support rods:

They are simply shower curtain rods that are supported with a spring. Since the lighthouses are pretty light, this holds their weight without any trouble, and there is no vibration at all. It's very sturdy for the price, if folks are looking for something a bit more affordable.
A buddy of mine got a set of curtain rods like these to stretch floor to ceiling:

And then these pipe clamp mounts to attach the lighthouses.

He's pretty happy with them.
Before I bit the bullet and drilled holes, I used a pair of mini camera tripods to put them on shelves. The downside was they were super easy to bump out of alignment meaning I had to re-run roomscale setup all the time, but they were also super portable and it'll look no worse than small satellite speakers as far as inspection is concerned.
That’s pretty much it’s name in English. Also will work with “constant tension shower rod” here are the ones I used for my 9 ft ceilings, and these are the clamps
Looks like shower rods: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00F3B4YPS
I bought something similar to those light stands, but didn't like them....they "cut" into your roomscale zone, and they can not be as sturdy as you really want them to be (the lighthouses shouldn't move even the slightest bit).
I kept them for when i take my vive somewhere else and use as a portable solution. After some research, I use these now and love them...

and for actually holding the lighthouse onto the pole...

those are totally metal, and worth the slight extra price compared to plastic ones (but you could probably save a little money with the plastic ones).
those poles are great and easy to move too!
hope it helps, and you made the right choice w/ vive, it's the superior HMD by far.
