I use this on my YJ Wrangler: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JRGOKQ8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Best mount I've ever used. I think the leaf springs would've devoured any other mount besides this one.

u/mrgoodace · 9 pointsr/oneplus

I can recommend you iOttie Easy One Touch 2, that I'm using for a few months now.

It's not expensive, mounts easily and sticks to the windshield really good (takes a lot of force to remove it actually), the suction cup is made out of some gel you can wash from dirt if needed.

They say you can mount it equally good on the dashboard (which I haven't tried).
It grips the OPO without a problem (using a standard noname back-case), and the one-touch thing really works: you put it on using one hand, release also using one hand.

I extended the arm so that my OPO mounted rests on the dashboard, and that eliminates the vibrations (which are minimal to start with).

Hope this helps. Cheers.

u/CRAZYTickster · 6 pointsr/VEDC

This and it is every bit as great as the reviews say it is.

u/ApathyCorps · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm using the iOttie Easy One Touch 2. I've used it on the OPO as well. I like being able to position my phone as a HUD of sorts.

I have this one: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00JRGOKQ8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

Bonus is that it also fits other smaller phones like a motog

I'm currently in love with this mount: http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder-iPhone-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00JRGOKQ8

It let's you 360° rotate, swivel, extend the arm thing, and has a little flap thing that you push down to secure the mount to most textures on your car. Also, it has a stickyish bottom padding that can be cleaned with water in case it loses grip.

All you have to do to install the phone is open the gate thing, place your phone, & it snaps automatically for a secured fit.

u/dunng · 4 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have had really good luck with iOttie. They have a few models for different phones.

I've tried a few, and this is my favorite:

iOttie Easy One Touch XL

Our other car has the newer version, but I don't like it quite as much.

u/UnCounted36244 · 3 pointsr/uberdrivers

This one. Works great. There is an adhesive on the suction cup that keeps it firmly on the windshield. It is gummy enough that it is also supposed to be able to affixed to the dashboard, but I have never done this.

Cheaper than the Steelie, no magnet, and it works!

u/tmeowbs · 3 pointsr/Miata

it's this one and i'm a fan. it's fallen off once or twice, but if you clean the suction cup it'll adhere again. it's nice, because i can use a 6" lightning cable to hook my phone up to the radio.

u/brentrichardjr · 3 pointsr/essential

I have been using this one (iOttie Easy One Touch 2). The arms just miss the power button on My Essential phone, both with and without a case (Incipio NGP Pure Clear). It's been holding strong on my car dash since April 2016. Also, the fingerprint reader isn't covered if you want to reach around for it.

u/seinman · 3 pointsr/uberdrivers

I highly recommend this mount. I have had it for three years, and prior to that had the original version for five years. Only upgraded because the original didn’t fit the plus size iPhones. This mount is an absolute beast. The suction cup will hold for years at a time on nearly any surface.

u/Trumar · 3 pointsr/XVcrosstrek

I've been using this suction cup mount attached to the little window part towards the front of the driver's door (the part that doesn't roll down). Run a long cable from the center console under the floor mat and up the side to charge! I can get you a picture of you like.

u/Crocoduck_The_Great · 3 pointsr/iphone

I had a vent mount for a while but really disliked how it blocked airflow. Like you, I didn't want something that would ruin the dash.

I ended up with this. It leaves 0 residue on the dash (I have two and have moved each from one car to another after 1 year+ of use). I love it and will never go back to vent mount.

u/mythe00 · 3 pointsr/mazda

I use this mount:

https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder-iPhone-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00JRGOKQ8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1465498716&sr=8-2&keywords=cellphone+mount

I've used a few phone mounts and I like the one the most by far. It actually somehow suctions to the leather/plastic dash without any glue. I like the cradle design a lot too; there are two tabs that you press to lock the hands in an open position and then when you place the phone in the cradle they snap closed. It's much easier to use than the simple spring loaded ones where you have to shove your phone in each time.

u/minionrob · 2 pointsr/ProjectFi

+1 for the iOttie!

This one was a little more expensive, but I love that I just have to push the phone towards the back, and it snaps the arms in place. It holds my Nexus 6P with cruzerlite case just fine. When it's time to remove the phone, then you squeeze the sides. The idea here is that you can easily place it on the mount with one hand.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JRGOKQ8?cache=35b711bc7f2a3e65bc46c1902b43f132&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1415112197&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

There a button where you put the phone in that automatically triggers the clamps and locks your phone in place. I drive for Uber and people are constantly asking what mount I have because its so awesome. And saves you from the $1000 shitty built in navigation systems in cars.

u/Yahmei · 2 pointsr/VEDC

I have not used the mophie wireless charging car vent mount, so I cannot comment on that product, though it does look pretty neat if it works well. In case others comment and share a negative experience about that product, I wanted to share my setup for a few ideas.

I have an iPhone XS Max, so no headphone jack, and an older car, so no built-in bluetooth.

I use the iOttie Easy One Touch 2 Car Mount Universal Phone Holder to mount my phone to the windshield.

(I noticed you mentioned a vent mount, there are plenty of options available for that type of mount as well.)

Then, I use the Mpow MBR2 Bluetooth Car Kit - this allows me to play my music on my phone via bluetooth by connecting an audio cable into the Aux jack in my car and I can charge my phone using a lightning cable. I chose this model since it is powered via the car charger instead having to deal with rechargeable bluetooth adapters.

It may seem a little clunky, but it works well until I purchase a new car (I'm currently at 185,000 miles).

I have an iOttie Easy One Touch 2. I'm usually not a fan of suction cups, but this one works incredibly well. I have it stuck to the left side of the passenger footwell. Even though the panel is a bit textured, the suction cup sticks solid.

That's not really an issue. I've had the same car mount for a several years now, and it has held both an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 6 Plus just fine. The key is to make the mount a clamp, so then a phone of any width can fit inside.

u/drmonix · 2 pointsr/fordfusion

I know you said you're not a fan of the vent ones but I just got one of these for my car and it works great. I have another iOttie that mounts on the dash that I haven't had any problems with in 1+ year ownership. I recommend anything by them.

u/lexio120 · 2 pointsr/Pontiac

I use the iOttie mount on the dashboard on my Grand Prix just fine. It's a sticky gel suction cup with various pivoting points to angle it just right. Bought it 2 years and it still works.

u/spartanerik · 2 pointsr/cars

Yeah, the iOttie I have (version 2) has an extending arm, and the length of it gets stabilized by a screw.

What I did was I got a suction mount and swapped out the clamp with the mount from a magnetic one - then I put it onto the dash in front of the screen like this:

Phone Mount

The IS vents are kind of awkward and don't fit the magnetic vent clips too well, and I wanted something I can slap my phone on and have it stick - so I did a little tinkering.

On a '14 IS, this setup wouldn't block the screen at all from the driver's angle.

I had that IPOW in my work truck, it lasted about 3 weeks. Not a bad concept, but it was lacking in construction.

u/Throw-aweigh · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

For a car mount I've been using this iOttie mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JRGOKQ8). It sticks well to my dash even though my dash is plastic and textured. If you have a large case on your phone like an otterbox it may not fit, but I have a small case and it works great. I've had the mount longer than I've had the 6P.

u/Joe-User · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I've used their mounts for a few years in a SUV where I was able to mount the suction cup on the shelf where the USB/charging ports are.

One issue. I've found they last about 2 summers before they start losing their stickiness but at $12 it's not a huge issue. They are definitely a good choice.

I don't know how common it is among all car mounts, but both of my mounts have supports that you can reposition. One where you can slide the support from side to side, and one where either/both of the two supports can be turned to become flush with the rest of the cradle.

Easiest way (without buying a new stereo) is to just get a dashboard/windshield/magnetic mount to keep it hands free, and use "Hey Siri" or "Hey Google" to handle your texting. You never have to touch your phone.

Here's a phone holder I've used and would recommend...

I won't get on a big soapbox here because hopefully the ticket was a good wake up call, but remember that texting while driving can and does kill.

A small investment in hands-free phone stuff is the responsible thing to do. Good luck!

u/a7tex25 · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I'm very specific about car docks and I'd definitely recommend this one.

https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-HLCRIO132-Wireless-Standard-Charger/dp/B00UXS7958/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1502730046&sr=8-12&keywords=iottie

I've been using it for a few months now in my Altima and it is BY FAR the best dock I've ever used. It's extremely simple to dock and remove your phone with one hand, the build quality is very good, configuring it to almost any angle is possible, the suction is strong, and best of all it has built in wireless charging (though I removed the wireless charging component in it and modified the mount to have a fast wireless charger instead).

There's also the non-wireless charging model for much cheaper, which is still a good item. My wife has it in her car and I've only used it a few times, but I feel that the dock is a little more shaky than the other one, maybe because there's less plastic because of the lack of wireless charging components.

You don't want to know how many car mounts I've tried. :D (more than a dozen, I assure you).

Right now I have a hybrid mount, build from a head piece of Arkon and a mount piece of an iOttie.

The Arkon mount is a 4-point (two up, two down) grip mount that does not cover up any ports or any buttons, unlike the iOttie OneTouch mount, which covers up the side buttons.

The base of the iOttie, however, is a much better base with extendible arm giving a couple extra inches of reach. So I combined the best features of both into a single car dock.

Hopefully someone has done this and has a better answer. Logitech used to make a camera with skype built in, but it seems it was discontinued. Skype also used to have a TV app but it seems that's been discontinued too. Logitech has the Conference Cam Connect but its pricey. There are other all-in-one cameras like THIS but i've never used them. You could screen mirror from your mobile device but then you wouldn't be able to use a secondary usb camera. If you had a laptop, you could put the camera on the tv and then just plug it into the laptop when needed (then run laptop video to the tv). You could, of course, buy or build a dedicated computer for your tv. They also sell these stick PC's that would plug into an hdmi slot. You would then plug your camera into that, you'd need a mouse/keyboard of some sort though. It would be clunky, but you could stick your phone on top of the tv with a phone mount , then cast/airplay it to see the screen on the television. Here's something else I saw while googling Prijector. Its proprietary though, so may be a pain to get support if it doesnt work well.

I use the [iOttie One Touch 2] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JRGOKQ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

the suction to the dash is great and it works very well, the only downside is that it does not fit the phone with my case on (otterbox commuter series). The otterbox is one of the bigger cases you if you have a slimer case it will probably be fine.

You may want to opt for the (XL version) [http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windshield-Dashboard-Holder-HLCRIO101/dp/B007FH716W/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1420830773&sr=1-1&keywords=iottie+note+4]

looks like it gives you an extra .1 inch.

Similar to the one posted by you. I love this thing!

I attached mine to the windshield and it telescopes to the perfect spot - far left, over the left vent.

Do you know what I do with my in-dash media system? I put this on top of it and never turn it on.

I love android, but I doubt I will ever use any car's media system. They're all so shitty. All of them. I have yet to see a single one that didn't suck. Even BMW's iDrive blows. Tesla makes one that seems okay, but for the price you pay for it there are so many cars that are better.

Hey, it's the iOttie Easy One Touch 2
https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder-iPhone-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00JRGOKQ8

It suctions well on the side panel of my '15 WRX. Passenger still has room. Especially if it's a small dog.

I do not. I can, however, definitively say that this is the best (non-permanent) mount you can buy out there: iOttie Easy OneTouch 2

It can attach directly to your dashboard, even on uneven and cureved surfaces. I know this first hand; the suction cup is patented and amazing.

If you're looking for something small that easily tucks out of the way, I have the iOttie EasyFlex 2 in my car. When I'm not using it it folds on itself and looks like a small hockey puck.

Seriously, they're amazing and super simple to use.

I don't think the side clamping ones will have enough force to damage the case. However, having a clamp with the case folded back might not be the most secure grip.

Something like [this with the bottom supports] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JRGOKQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_c4nAub1EFPAK7) might work

I swear by the iOttie, had it for over a year now. Only bad thing I could say: the pad loses it's stickiness in direct sunlight, but otherwise it's perfect for me. I have the two, not sure how much better the 3 is.

Is that the right one?

Most of the suction cup ones I’ve seen have the bottom peg able to slide left and right to allow the six port to be exposed regardless of the phone.

this is the one I have

I've been using one of these for several years. When it breaks I'll buy another one just like it. I don't have a picture, of my setup specifically, but I found a picture online and drew a box where I have mine mounted. It is stuck directly to the dash, no plastic disc needed. It has never come unstuck. It's been wonderful.

I have this one from iOttie. I have not had to readjust the mounting and the phone is held securely. Easy to place phone in mount with one hand.

I think a dash mount would be nice, but after reading some reviews (like for this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JRGOKQ8) it seems that they may damage some dashes, I don't know how an E46 compares to those though or how it would hold up.
