I have most of that in my go bag .. and this:

Haven't built mine yet but everything is arriving today and I should be set.

$70 - Cannakit (Includes raspberry pi 3 and everything you need to set it up. You can gets things a little cheaper if you order them separately but this is simple and works for me) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C6Q2GSY

$10 - SNES Style USB Controller 2-pack (not necessary if you already have USB controllers) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KJS4ILY

$16 - Keyboard mouse for tv thingy (this is not a requirement but you need some form of USB keyboard and mouse to config things or you have to use SSH for everything) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KF9IVKC

So $96 total. A lot more than the $35 people try to sell you on raspberry pi's for but I think it will be a nice setup though could've gone cheaper. We'll see.

I used to use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KF9IVKC/

Obviously not as fast as using a keyboard (which I use now), but worked well and got the job done. Fits in one hand, so good for travel.

I'm using the iPazzPort Wireless Mini Keyboard and it's working great. Gives you keyboard functionality when you need it, but also the basic playback and navigational keys.

Using a wireless mouse from bed is a pain, particularly if you're lying down.

Get a keyboard remote. This is probably the best possible method if this is all you plan on using it for.

The best alternate method is to use a gamepad and a keybinding program like Joy2Key to emulate the mouse and media keys. If you already have a gamepad, this won't cost you anything. The downside is that it's a little awkward sometimes, but it'll work better than trying to use a wireless mouse from bed.

Personally, I use the Steam Controller for this. It basically has the same functionality as both of these in one device.

I also use Steam Controller to watch stuff using my PC from the couch in my living room with Steam Link.

Steam Controller is a bit expensive just for this use only. I also game using it sometimes from bed or the couch. I wouldn't recommend it if this is all you plan on doing with it.

I have one similar to that, but I've heard good things about this one too.

I was unable to ever get my 8bitdo controlers working with kodi so I ended up using this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KF9IVKC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487559716&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ipazzport&dpPl=1&dpID=51KGZY%2B0RLL&ref=plSrch

Works great. Not really the solution you are looking for but it's what I ended up doing

I have a smart TV, a Roku and a Chromecast. But really the best device I have for streaming is my gaming PC, which I hook up to my TV via a 25' HDMI cable and I control my rig with a Mini Remote Keyboard.

I use a pi3 for this exact function. Currently use my main desktop as the plex server, and wanted to be able to watch local media on a larger tv screen.

A samsung smart blu-ray player, with the plex app, was pretty slow. The xbox 360 plex app ran better and didn't skip video, but it seemed overkill to have to turn it on just to watch tv/movies. So I loaded raspplex onto a pi, and have by using that ever since. If you do this, invest in a wireless keyboard like this and you'll be good to go.

What I usually do whenever there's no Acestream links for Boxing but plenty of browser links. I turn on my Bluetooth iPazzport remote , open Puffin Browser from my Mecool M8S Pro L Android TV box and type the address out, hit play and put it in fullscreen. I've watched a couple of boxing matches like this. TheiPazzport has a keyboard and obviously will make life easier when typing web addresses out. For those that are curious, works well on Firesticks as well.

Not sure, I got a small form factor PC my work was throwing out and put an SSD in it, have this for the remote. It's more than up to the task :)

I've had a variation on that theme for the last 10 years or so.

Get a wireless keyboard. Maybe something like this or this. Just make sure that a) it works with your operating system and PC and a) the wireless connection to your PC is strong enough to work without breaks if your PC stands farther away from your TV or is blocked off by something from where you're sitting.
