I really wish they would. It feels like a great, untapped well of potential if done right. I think Superman if especially a good target, since they just keep screwing him up with the current incarnations.
I haven't read it yet, but I heard "It's Superman!", which is a novel set in the 1930's but written recently is pretty good.
I also have these novels, but haven't had a the chance to read them yet.

Last Days of Krypton and Enemies and Allies by Kevin J Anderson were good. And It's Superman by Tom De Hevan was awesome.
