A few of those will allow you to turn the bulbs on their side. Get some Mylar on the top to reflect back down

For that kind of money you could easily get a 4-way (or 5-way) bulb adaptor plus 4-5 100w LED bulbs which would be TWICE as bright.

Check out smart sockets, like this WiFi one; I've seen them with wifi, Z-wave, Zigbee, ye-old X-10, even wired. You can plug in whatever bulb you want - even use a splitter, like /u/redroguetech said. And why stop at a 1-to-2 splitter? I found a 1-to-5 splitter, or even higher. If you're using a directional splitter like that, you can use some cheap floodlights, and still light up your garage like daylight!
