Looking at the p8126's I have here these is a something in the middle that is clear plastic. I am not sure if you cut into that it would expose the ink inside to outside (not good). Next time I use one up I will cut it and see. I have seen a couple videos on refilling them that show people prying the end off, so maybe you could tell from that? They are just expensive enough that I don't want to ruin one playing with it.

I also would suggest the Jetstream prime refills. They are a hybrid ink and write really smooth. They are available in .7 .5 and .38 size.

Another good gel refill is the Ohto rays flash. It is a needlepoint g2 style that fits perfectly in my sports. It is needle point and black only though. I also like the monte verde soft roll (P112BB) in extra fine blue-black. That's what is in my daily driver (raw brass sport) .

If you are a ballpoint user, then pick a refill that comes in hybrid ink and will fit the pen you choose. There are lots of Parker G2 compatible pens and the Schmidt Easyflow 9000 and the Uni Jetstream SXR-600series fit Parker G2 compatible pens and both are hybrid ink. I have had experience with both and IMO, the Jetstream is the smoother writer. Both are smoother and darker and less prone to skipping than regular ballpoint ink. Also, there is the Schneider Slider refill which has hybrid ink. I have not used that refill so I cannot comment.

As far as a sub $10 pen there is the Rotring Tikky, Parker Jotter, and if you want to buy used, eBay has many Parkers for less than $10.

FYI, by the time you buy the pen and the refills, you may be better off just buying a box of SXN-150 Jetstreams or the SXN-250 then if you lose one, no biggie.

There are lots of pens that use Parker style BP refill. I like Graf von Faber Castell. Some others include Parker, Rotring, Pelikan, Aurora, ST Dupont, and Aurora.

You can get the refills from Jet Pens or Amazon.
