June and July this year were pretty intense on the JMT. If you want to go early/mid-season on it, you should spend the spring getting used to crampons/microspikes, arresting with an ice axe and crossing creeks on shorter, safer trips.

I'm doing something very similar, but debating spending an extra day to pick up one more resupply at Kersage Pass to the Independence P.O. It's 7 miles out of the way, but allows me 3 resupplies instead of 2.
No big surprise, but I used this book for 95% of my planning.
