Id do it just to sell it. You can get just the joycons imported from japan for not too much more than a regular new pair.

They sell them on Amazon (US) for less than $5 more than US joycons. As of now, they're the same price.

Edit: Same price as most physical retailers, not Amazon. I see that the others seem to be $69.99 and the Mario red ones are $79.98. But if you wanted to go to Gamestop/Best Buy on most days, they're usually the typical retail price of $79.99 for US colors.

They were originally exclusive to the Mario Odyssey bundle, but Nintendo sells them separately now. Japan exclusive though, because, well, Nintendo.

As you can see, the red on the odyssey ones it's quite different from this bundle. The colour looks more like the neon red, but maybe it is an exclusive european colour :D

EDIT: Looks like for the other Joy-Con colors, they're shipped and sold by Amazon, but the red ones are not available directly from Amazon. :/

Amazon is selling them for 7986 jpy, which is approximately 73 usd and close to the price of joycons in the us ($69). (I think they will ship them overseas too, if you want to get them now.)

Yup. This is the best we can do for now. There is, of course, an option to buy the red joy-cons imported from Japan.

You can buy the red/blue neon alts, the green/pink neon alts, grey, neon yellow and Mario red (Japanese import only).

The original variation neons are the only ones you can't get outside a bundle or console purchase (unless you buy them individually, also an option for some).

Some of these are less obtainable in different locations, but they exist.

FYI if you don't have the Mario odyssey joy-con you can import them from Japan (link) and I was thinking of just getting the neon then buying those till I found this.

Get it from amazon Japan. The cost is actually less than buying a set of joycon here in US ($80 + 10% tax) for me, since the tax is deducted and shipping is not that expensive.

Couldn't find any info for US release time in the near future, but did find them on Amazon Japan, will cost near the same as normal pair of Joy-Cons here, around $71 USD
