  1. Yours IS a genuine concern. Anxiety is a real, well-documented medical condition. And it sucks, for real. No more "silly" than diabetes -- we don't shout at people for not digesting sugar approriately and you should not feel guilty for anxiety.

  2. Your employers should also be sensitive to your condition, even if he weren't related to you.

  3. Congrats on having the supportive partner.

  4. Remaining on the shop floor during a breakdown/attack seems like an unreasonable responsibilty. I presume you're permitted bathroom breaks? That's usually what I do to get away while I'm at work.

  5. Sunglasses are a second option for the floor -- something wrap-around, that can obscure your eyes if you've been crying. (I have Julbo Sherpa's. http://www.amazon.com/Julbo-Sherpa-Mountain-Sunglasses-Spectron/dp/B001O0DN4U)

  6. Hang in there. And try not to be so hard on yourself. There is a difference between addressing your anxiety responsibly and beating yourself up for no good reason.

I got these a few years back for a Jack costume. They're pretty decent but I turned out to need prescription sunglasses so they're just on the shelf now. Good for fishing on occasion though.

Julbo Sherpas are fantastic. I bought them for climbing, but they are great for any outdoor stuff. They stay on really well, are cheap (you can usually find them for 30 dollars somewhere), and block a ton of light for people with sensitive eyes like me. Also, the leather sidepieces are removable if the peripheral vision issue worries you.

[These](https://www.amazon.com/my favorite sunglasses/dp/B001O0DN4U) "glacier" glasses are my favorite I've ever tried. The leather wrap-around shade really helps in extra-bright conditions making them better than normal sunglasses. But they're not a complete seal so they're still breathable, unlike goggles so my eyes don't sweat in the summer.

I mostly wear them at Burning Man & Frostburn (February burn in PA/WV area), but they're also light enough that I sometimes wear them with steampunk gear at cons.
