Acrylic does scratch, but often comes with a protective sheet over them, like what you find on a new computer case. That cover protects nicely against scratching... worst case is that it'll look milky instead of clear; best case is that you won't even notice it's there.
My current computer came nicely protected by that stuff, and I just left it on; it doesn't cover the cooling fans or vents or anything lighted, and it makes the rather boring dark grey into a less boring gloss grey, so...
I just purchased three boxes of acrylic risers, they have the cloudy film, which I might just leave on... they'll be in the back of my shelving units (no detolfs for me) with a lot of figures in front of them.
