I don't know why people are sleeping on the JVC HANC250. I have two pairs, one for myself and I just bought a second pair for my wife. Long battery life, easy packing, comes with a hard case, and sound fantastic. $100

I'm using a standard logitech mouse+keyboard combo. I mostly play with headphones on because my girlfriend watches TV in the same room and she's not a gaming enthusiast :) I'm using these headphones.

JVC ha-nc250. I love these ones. They were the highest rated in Consumer Reports then I bought them.

i got a pair of JVCs before i moved overseas and can tell you they were amazing for plane travel along with noisy hostels/houses

I currently have JVC HANC250s, but I need a microphone to be able to talk to people while gaming. I did some research and it seems like I can do one of two things. Buy a new headset or buy an attachable mic. After some research it seemed like the HyperX Clouds or a ModMic would be my best choices.

So I was hoping to get an opinion on which choice would be better, adding a ModMic to my existing JVCs for $40, or spending an extra $35 and getting HyperX Clouds. Or, if there's a better gaming headset for that price range, those.

The "required" info is below, but maybe not 100% applicable to this situation.

------

Budget - Can spend the extra $30 for HyperX's, but would obviously like to spend less if the trade-offs aren't worth it.

Source - Almost entirely my PC. Definitely no amps or anything fancy.

Requirements for Isolation - Almost entirely used at home, so no isolation necessary. Either way, I could still use my JVCs for travel, etc.

Preferred Type of Headphone - I like my on ear JVCs even if they can be somewhat uncomfortable if I don't sit them correctly. I imagine the HyperXs would be a little more comfortable.

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced would be good, but everybody likes bass. I'm not an audiophile or anything, so it's not a huge deal.

Preferred Music - Going to be listening to music (rock, blues, funk, alternative, etc.), as well as playing games with big explosions and talking to people on TeamSpeak/ventrillo.

Location - Canada

$100 and really good for the money...though u should know they are ON THE EAR headphones, not around the ears like bose...good for the money

I also bought some curtains at meijer (target) for $12 and they claim 80% reduction, but who knows...theyre also kinda small (fits the window though).
