looked up the am-5 on amazon to compare prices, and the same seller that is listed on walmarts site is selling them at the same price on amazon. The pictures are different. Heres the link https://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-Stainless-SpeedSafe-Assisted-Opening/dp/B06Y645MXC

That's why I got one. I saw them on reddit and I got all jealous. The AXIS locking system is really nice. Thing can hold 250 lbs. It's not the world's best knife or anything though. I think people like them just because they're expensive. Although they will sharpen it for life, just pay postage one way.

There is also the $15 discontinued Kershaw AM-5. It's not perfect. The frame lock sometimes doesn't engage if you manually open it and the speed assist open is very stiff until you break it in. I really like mine though. This is my at home knife. Kershaw also sharpens knives for life too I think.

And if you like to cook and hate money, /r/chefknives. I feel like Kill Bill in there, I need Japanese Steel.

Thanks. I have a lot of low end knives myself. It's fairly recently I've been going for a slightly more high end thanks to /r/knifeclub and /r/chefknives. Although my newest one is a Kerhaw AM-5, which was on sale for $15 and my favorite kitchen knife is a Tojiro DP gyutou. Both are budget knives.

Chicago has gotten scary these days.

If you want to go over the top, look for a fixed blade in one of these new so-called super steels they have. Stainless steel is cool and all, but there are so many options these days.
