I got a Rift S a few months ago and these additions were a must imo:

  1. Hand straps to make them like knuckles controllers. You don't have to be constantly gripping your controller which is nice for long play periods. I have wrist problems so any help is good. but just being able to "let go" of stuff is excellent for immersion. I got the Mamut ones, and really like them. There's these Kiwi too which are cheaper.

  2. I primarily play beat saber so vr cover is a must so the foam doesn't get super gross. Also I got a workout headband or else sweat will get all in your eyes

  3. And since i value sound for Beatsaber, the built in speakers just don't cut it (missing bass) so I got these clip on headphones originally made for PSVR. They will clip on just fine to the Rift S halo. They sound fine. Maybe $40 was a bit much. If you're a tinkerer look up the Koss headphones mod. They're like $12 it looks like. And there's 3d printed things to clip the Koss to the halo strap.

I have large hands as well and I found that the “small” hand setting (lowest slot for the elastic band) on the AMVR grip is actually better for me. The reason being that it forces your hand down, and be placed lower on the grip, which puts my thumb at a more natural angle on the buttons and thumbstick. When the band was in the top most slot, it pushed my hand up which puts your thumb at sort of an awkward angle to the buttons.

Edit: Also I found these today: https://www.amazon.com/KIWI-design-Knuckle-Oculus-Controller/dp/B07XYYNXJ3

Nice that one part of the strap uses the original strap mount, this will be great for people who want a knuckle strap while also being able to use a (magnet) gun stock. Not a fan of the use of hook-and-loop though because it will wear/fail over time, and the mounting technique for the top strap leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm happy for more options.

I have had these for a while, and I can't play VR without knuckle straps now. The only problem I have had is that the hard plastic has a sharp ridge that digs into my palm if I grip too hard while slicing up droids with Darth Vader's lightsaber.

I considered switching to the AMVR ones which are also well reviewed, but these kiwi straps are much cheaper and don't make the controller bigger for those of us with small hands. Should be here in the mail... tomorrow?

  • First off, comfort: The Quest is front heavy so a decent battery pack as a counter-weight is essential. I also got a mounting kit to go with it which works well. This also has the obvious advantage of elongating your playing time quite a bit. This coupled with a pair of discrete earbuds and you can save the bag of cash that others are spending on the DAS mod.
  • Next up, controller security. I play a game where throwing away empty guns is part of the game play. In order to make sure you don't accidentally toss your controllers as well in the heat of a John Wick style gun kata combination you're going to need some knuckle straps.
  • Portability means taking your Quest with you. So, you'll need a decent case to protect your new best friend.
  • As someone already mentioned, you'll want to cover your lenses when not in use to protect them.
  • The one thing that many forget on lists like these, rechargables for your controllers!

Heres the link for the kiwi straps, I came into this thread just to recommend them, they're amazing I couldn't imagine playing anything without them. Also Kiwi makes a really good pulley system which I also have and love.

I haven't felt the need for any battery pack mods, unless you're planning on using it for long periods outside. I did get the knuckle straps https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XYYNXJ3/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_YEDVDbX7PV1Y0.

Honestly just try it for awhile before you go looking for mods.

There are also these knuckle-style grips. You can let go of the controller with these and they'll stay on your hands.

I can't vouch for them though. I'm on the fence still for buying a pair.

i can vouch for this

suprised not to see this. i prefer it over the silicone cover. the vrcover ones are probably similar but i read complaints
https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Interface-Bracket-Leather-Replacement/dp/B07VT3BM7

i got those both for free , used and bought other similar stuff that was shipping was suprised to end up liking the free (valueless) stuff i would only keep for the eventual resale value.

Cases and batteries come down to the preference. i prefer nothing but velcro ties to hold the battery at this point. to fit in travel cases easier and to swap with different sized batteries

vouch for kiwi grips too

I am 100% agree, especially with the new oculus touch, but you should click on this link. You will see that you have still a kind of oculus strap for your wrist.
