Here is where I got it on amazon it is in my 2011 Honda Civic, and a 3rd party plate in my case. It holds my LG G4 with my 8500 mah battery, and my iPhone 6s+. I've been using it for six months with no down sides at all.

It's magnetic and affixes to the CD slot, which means it's mounted lower than the windshield. I previously had a Galaxy Nexus (and it's car dock), so I'm used to having it on the window.

So far, it's working really well. It's pretty strong and holds the phone without issue, and the metal plate fits in the back of the Moto G (2014) case without problem. I can't speak to the other models that are slightly smaller.

I came here to suggest this. I only use the ProClip base to securely mount it to my dash. Then I got a basic ball mount and I used my old magnet mount.

It is very sturdy. No more suction cups falling off the windshield.

they also make an air-vent version i believe, but my CD player is never used and is in a way better position.

zero affect on performance, i've been using magnetic holders for years and they dont affect the phone at all. the only thing that might be possible is the NFC, but in the 6P i believe it is in the area with the glass and camera so your shim won't block it (the phone is metal anyways).

Had it for ~7 months now and it looks awesome , constantly getting compliments on it.

Would have gotten a vent mount but I like my AC .

But I thought the NFC was much higher up, near the fingerprint reader.

It stays in place very well with the included magnetic mount that I put in my case. Makes good use of the CD player since I never use mine but if you do it won't work.

I just built one of these last night. I took an old begginer set driver and cut the head off the shaft. I then took one of these http://www.amazon.com/Koomus-Magnetos-CD-Cradle-less-Smartphone/dp/B00HUIL310 and cut the arm from the base. I then epoxied it to the end of the grip. Easy to transport and should be sturdy enough. I can always add more epoxy. I'll upload a pic of the finished product when I get home.

I had this one for a while. worked great for a couple years until the clamp stopped working all the time.

then I got this magnetic one and stuck the metal plate behind the back cover of my oneplus one. been working great since.

and now I have a custom one I made. I just bent a metal plate, stuck some magnets on it, covered it with felt, and it stays in my CD slot now. very flat and flush with the dash. have the metal plate behind the stock back cover of my 5x without any issues. works great with or without a case on it.

Cd slot magnetic I put my magnets inside my otterbox on the back of the phone instead of sticking them and they work just fine I have an iPhone 6 Plus it even held up my iPad mini 3 just fine also in a otterbox defender would be even stronger grip without the otterbox but I've never had it slide off the magnet holder once

You don't have to think about it you just put the phone on the magnet and it holds it id never go back to any other phone mount

I have the Koomus Magnetos cd slot mounted magnetic hokder. I really like this because my wife has the dash mounted Magnetos holder in her car, and both my parents have a Magnetos holder in their cars... so I can just in any car in the family, and the Magnetic plate I have in my phone case allows me to place their phone on their mount without needing to resize or change anything.
