The difficulty of the book gradually gets harder and longer, but the difficulty is not to the point where it's native level and won't be able to understand. While you brought up songs, they are a good tool to add into the input collection, they shouldn't be the main source. This is because they use a lot of slangs and change up the words to make it sound nicer. Unless it's like an old ballad xD.
