I bought a pair of Koss UR-55s for my dad's birthday a couple months. Koss is a really affordable brand that still gives you great sound quality and insulation. I own a pair of the UR-20s because they are <$20 on Amazon. They aren't audiophile quality or anything like that, but they are incredible for what you end up paying. I've had the same pair for almost 3 years now.

Yes, they are bigger than what you might be looking for, but Koss has plenty of in-ear offerings too. I just have to recommend Koss as a great brand in general. You really can't go wrong there.

dude i just bought some koss ur-20s http://www.amazon.com/Koss-T55959-UR-20-Home-Headphones/dp/B00005N9D3?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 and they are pretty nice... my old pair were sony v700s so i mean there is definetly a difference but if you're just starting you dont need super expensive headphones. spend the money on some nice studio speakers instead of headphones.

Yeah I have looked at some Monoprice ones, and these Koss ones. Thanks for the recommendation!

Koss UR-20s. The best headphones you can buy for under $50, period.

Another big head here, similarly rarely find a hat that fits in any size. I've been using Koss UR-20's - pretty comfortable, nice frequency response. Not a ton of isolation, but better than earbuds.

This build is pretty good, I'd recommend this build. For speakers I would recommend headphones instead, since you want to keep it in your price range as much as possible I'd get these:

I've been using these headphones for computer/metal detecting for 6 years now, bought a 2nd set that I still haven't taken out of the box yet. They're awesome! Buy the 6.5mm adapter if you need it.

Sound quality is great for the price, cord length is very long (makes it nice when you put down the detector you don't have to take the headphones off).

Alright. i've narrowed down my headphone choice to three. Which one should I get?

My list of what I'm looking for in a headphone goes:

  • Price

  • Comfort

  • Build Quality/Durability

  • Sound Quality

Bear in mind that I will be using these mainly for playing Skyrim, so sound quality doesn't have much of an effect on me. I highly prefer circumaural/over-ear headphones. And I have no cares whatsoever for things like weight, color, portability, or cord length.

    ____

Without further ado, here are the headphones I'm considering:

  • Panasonic RP-HT225

  • Sennheiser HD 202-II

  • Koss UR-20

if you have any other suggestions at a similar CANADIAN price, let me know.

Hey guys, I hope it's okay to ask really basic questions here. Please direct me somewhere else if it's not.

I record a little music on my own (not even close to professional) and am learning about editing and producing it. I've heard people say that you want a good pair of monitors, to properly be hearing what you're making. I have a bit of money now so I'd like to upgrade to something that's budget but better than what I have now.

I'm sure you'll get a laugh from what I'm using now (and it should give you an idea of how little I know). I'm using these speakers that I just have left over from when I was in highschool ages ago. My headphones are these things. I record through, and have my speakers/headphones go through a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.

I'm mostly looking at getting a new pair of speakers. Would that be the one thing to get to most improve the sound I hear? I'm sure the headphones are crap as well, but I'll get to those at some point. Is the Scarlett 2i2 okay for now?

One more really stupid question... My 2i2 has jacks at the back and a dial at the front for the monitor. What's the difference between the monitor and normal speakers? This says that monitors are supposed to have a really flat response and be high quality. Would they also be good for listening to music (not stuff I'm making)?

thank you, any advice is appreciated!

edit: shit, one more thing. I assumed the 2i2 had an internal amplifier for the monitor, but looking at the manual it talks about using an external one for the monitor, so I'm guessing I'd have to get an amp too?

Need help with a comfort/fit question on a budget.

Recently acquired some MDR7506 cans for amateur music production, and have been carrying them to work to listen to music at my desk. Realized I don't want to break my nice headphones because I'm poor and can't really afford to replace them, so I need something cheaper I can abuse a little without too much worry.

Bought the Sennheiser HD202 on Amazon because they were the "Best Seller" under $25, and I hated the way they fit, literally returned them a couple hours later.

Any recommendations on cheap, durable, okay-sounding cans that fit more like the MDR7506, and preferably less than $25 shipped? The Koss UR-20, Behringer HPX2000, or Behringer HPM1000 all kinda look like they fit the bill, but I'd like to get some opinions or recommendations if possible.

EDIT: What about the JVC HARX300 or the HARX500? Would I be going wrong there?

As a side note (I noticed you were looking for replacements in your post history), I would recommend new ones since the longevity of the HD201s can't be really guaranteed.

My suggestion would be these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005N9D3

eh they are OK. I'm an amateur musician and semi-pro DJ. I bought these headphones on sale about 15 years ago for $15 brand new, and they sell for $25 online brand new right now: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-202-Professional-Headphones-Black/dp/B003LPTAYI

They are fine for the price I guess but nothing extraordinary. There are plenty of headphones in the $25 price range that are similar or better.

Personally I prefer the $16 Monoprice DJ headphones: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8323

They are significantly better than those sennheisers, and these headphones can easily beat headphones that cost $50+

Another option that is better than the sennheiser hd202 is the Koss UR20: https://www.amazon.com/Koss-T55959-UR-20-Home-Headphones/dp/B00005N9D3/ref=zg_bs_12097479011_32

That being said, the Sennheiser HD280pros are great headphones but they are $100: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-280-Pro-Headphones/dp/B000065BPB/ and so are the HD25-II. I just don't recommend Sennheiser's entry level headphones like the HD202 or HD201. Sennheiser just can't compete at the lowest end of the market. Sennheiser does the mid range and high end headphones right, but not the entry level IMHO.
