every time i see people recommending "old school" can openers, i cringe and have to recommend the "safe cut" or "side cut" can openers. They will last longer because they don't use crazy leverage to puncture the top of a can and a big honking blade that will dull easily. plus you have the added feature of being able to put the lid back on the can if you need to (its not going to re-seal it or anything but its better than no lid at all!)
any of these are going to be fine and last you a while. i have one from ikea i think

This is the one you need. Best can opener ever and also a multi tool for opening many other things. For under 20 bucks it is well worth it.
Old-fashioned bottle openers used on those lids will break the vacuum and allow you to open it easier. Obviously, use the blunt end and not the puncturing end of the opener. I've got one for over 8 years now, no issues and cans open up nice and edge free; It's like a Swiss army can opener too as you can relieve pressure from lids to open them easy and has a bottle opener too.
Ive had this wonky can opener for about 5 years. Really clever in the way it works because it doesn't actually cut the can. Also has a 2L bottle opener on the other side too. Highly recommended and a conversation piece as well.
