So, that's a loaded question and I can only really answer it for you with economics.
First of all, I love sharpening - it'd my zen space. I have an edge pro and a KME, both have their advantages and disadvantages, but both will produce perfect edges with time and practice.
BUT
For the price of either of them you could send your knife to a professional to 10 to 20 times. And with the sharpmaker that's not going to be often.
If you want to reprofile on the cheap and get good results, go with the Lansky clamp system. It works fine and it's like $40, then do the final edge with the sharpmaker.
