I think Corbu was the one who was most willing to cut his ties with the past (and the reality). Surely he was influenced by the same kind of vaguely historic esoteric mumbo-jumbo as the nazis, which was fashionable at the time. Also I think many other modernists were quite profoundly influenced by classisism, Mies & Aalto to name the obvious ones.
