It starts you from the complete beginner approach to programming which is what I needed. I am a few chapters in and loving it.

Down side is that it is just programming for unity, it does not teach you much other than the very basics of using unity and the features of it so I would recommend using it with a companion book. (I picked up 2 of the Unity2d books I found on amazon as well).

I agree with everyone stating that you should get a book on the subject, however I disagree with the statement that you shouldn't use Unity.

Seeing things happen at once is really enjoyable, and Unity was how I started out.
