Why are you picking unripe/overripe cherries? Sacrilege! ;) You should can or freeze them at peak ripeness if you can't use them all at once.

Don't forget cherries. They don't get as big or as sweet as they do in BC, but they're definitely edible right from the tree and great for baking. I get enough from the 3 trees in my yard to justify buying this.

Also there's seabuckthorn. The berries aren't great for eating but some people like seabuckthorn jam. And even if you don't eat the berries, they stay on the branches all winter and are great for attracting birds as well as adding a splash of colour to your yard. Same with chokecherries. Now that I think of it, currants grow here as well. I have a bunch of them in my yard but I've never harvested the berries.
