Here you go, I just finished picking up a new 4K monitor for my Pro and I can give you some guidance and what I suggest.

There are no HDR options that are at a price point you want. But for $399.99 the LG 27UD68P is the way to go. It's a IPS panel with 4K at 27" which is perfect for a desk or office. I have mostly played on a monitor as I enjoy playing in my office and letting the wife take the 4k Tv downstairs. It also has 5ms gtg and might I add, looks absolutely beautiful. It does have HDMI 2.0 so you don't have to worry about HDMI ports as well. This means you will be able to get 4k@60Hz

Great monitor and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a great 4K monitor for their PS4. Be careful though if you choose another monitor. Some only allow 4K@30Hz due to the lack of ports or will tell you it does it at 60Hz but only through the display port. Just check out the manuals as they will tell you what their HDMI ports do and what the monitors offer.

But you should really look at this monitor as I think you will be really happy with it. I know I am and a few others on here who play their Pro on it as well.

If you care about image quality primarily, I have loved the LG 27” IPS 4K displays. 27ud68 is a good deal at $400 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dCaNBbGT1NK1T

u/ACM1911 · 3 pointsr/Monitors

EDIT: Looks like Scorpio needs HDMI 2.1 for Freesync. Nothing has HDMI 2.1 right now I believe. Maybe wait for HDMI 2.1 monitors? I would.

I would get something with FreeSync. I believe Scorpio will have FreeSync support if you ever get a PC with an AMD graphics card you can utilize this monitor on it too.

Ones you should look at low->high price:

Is a monitor out of the question?

I use an LG 27UD68 for $499 and it's beyond paid for itself.

Only cons are no speakers, and, if you sit -too- far away the text becomes a little tough to read.

This one

Mostly because it was on sale for $340.... Decent reviews and I wanted a monitor that was 4k 60hz that worked with the PS4-Pro.

u/2RsPeople · 2 pointsr/india

How about LG's 4K-UHD 27 inch ? The only downside is that it doesnt have a usb port and speakers.

u/morepandas · 2 pointsr/buildapc

It doesn't look like it supports freesync, there is an LG Monitor on the same page with freesync.

You can also try the ASUS and Acer models, which are well known brands. The ASUS one is $150 off for the next 10 hours, and only costs $270 right now.

u/Justintime4hookah · 2 pointsr/battlestations

These are the ones I use: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UD68-P-27-Inch-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B01CH9ZTI4

I actually have three total but one is at work. I've had them for three years now and never had any issues with them.

u/Difascio · 2 pointsr/battlestations

That would be these. Freesync monitors, but I don't have the money for the G sync premium. Might get some down the road, but I've gotten both of these monitors for less than 700 dollars altogether. Check Best Buy as they frequently have them for 100.00 off for sales and open boxes (which includes the aforementioned 100.00 off).

https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UD68-P-27-Inch-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B01CH9ZTI4 This one has been serving me well for a little while. Great colors and games and videos look fantastic. Can't wait to get my EVGA 1080 ti (FTW3) and play some AAA games with decent framerates.

u/wakingdemons · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This looks pretty good, you could go for an ROG Swift and get a G-Sync 4k screen lol

Although for picture editing you'll need an IPS 4k screen

I'm in the same boat. Looking to upgrade from 1440p to 4k.This LG monitor looked nice: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_img?_encoding=UTF8&colid=20MYFDJH3YOHS&coliid=I2CJYQRQRCM13N but the reviews say it has a pretty strong anti-glare coating. Would really like a glossy 4k monitor under $500. Are there any options??

u/Nephid · 2 pointsr/Monitors

They really only differ in response time (it will be for gaming) with the 27 inch having a 5ms and the 32 inch having a 4ms, here's the links:

27 inch (I would get it off Newegg since it's $500 there)-

Hdmi 2.0 @30Hz by monitor.

From Amazon Q&A

https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/asin/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=ask_dp_dpmw_ql_hza?isAnswered=true#top

Q: I have this monitor. im not using a gpu . im just wondering how to enable 60hz? mine seems to be stucked @30ghz w/hdmi :s
A: HDMI 2.0 supports 4k at 30 and 60fps, Freesync is only usable via displayport.

Also from alienware representative I got that hdmi 2.0 was limited to @30hz on aw 13 r2. Not sure how and why they did it. But might be the case in aw 13 r3 too.

The best case - to use usb-c to displayport cable. I have two 4k @60hz

u/gilesinator · 1 pointr/battlestations

u/GaiaNyx · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I love these LG designs. I'm actually so excited for it, ordered a used one from a good seller for $340.

u/mattman7x · 1 pointr/MLBTheShow

Which 4k monitor? I am looking to get into the gaming monitor market after playing on one of my buddies. Never realized how much better I could be when not on a 65" TV. It was nuts.

I have the PS4 pro. So the 4K appeals to me. Although I keep reading the back and forth on if it really matters or not.

This was the 4k monitor I was looking at, but not sure on its input lag and other specs.

At home I recently upgraded from a 6ish year old higher end Dell Ultrasharp that was starting to show its age to one of these LG monitors that I found on sale at MicroCenter a couple weeks back and I’ve been pretty happy with it - LG 27UD68-P 27-Inch 4K UHD IPS Monitor with FreeSync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_L81aBb0619VQH

At my studio I use one of these - Dell Ultra HD 4k Monitor P2715Q 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PC9HFO8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_m-1aBbAZD4E70

Basically you want to look for an IPS monitor that reproduces a high percentage of the sRGB spectrum and are ideally factory calibrated.

If she’s designing for print, having a high Adobe RGB percentage would be ideal too but when you get into that territory you’re gonna end up spending as much on a display as you would a computer.

u/notagayguy69 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Would this be considered a good deal then? Should I wait for Black Friday for something better or this worth it?

u/TheMiamiWhale · 1 pointr/linuxhardware

I really like the idea of this but I'm worried it might be too small (I think in reality it'd be fine, I just have some hesitation). It's a great price, higher pixel density than the 27", and flexible in terms of input.

I stopped by Best Buy tonight and they happened to have this LG 4k in stock. While I couldn't open up specific apps and play around, the picture seemed really nice. I think that's probably what I'll end up doing when I sell these damn Apple displays.

u/BatGergi · 1 pointr/Monitors

I have looked at the samsung its pretty good at $250... but i rather spend $100 more and get this Asus instead. Its $350 on sale at the moment.

The LG 27UD68P is a pretty good 27" 4K monitor with Antiglare coating, displayport and hdmi, IPS display with 10bit color and 99% sRGB. Amazon has it for 38K but you can probably find it for less locally. I paid around 31K for it.

I'll make my vote for the 4K LG 27ud68 to best compliment your 27" Dell. Amazon link. 60hz/ 5ms/ 300 cd/m2

Sometimes goes near $300 when on sale. I just got the 27ud58 (bigger bezels, simple stand and less bright) and I love it. I think the 68 model would be perfect for that bezel less screen duo.

u/nikuk · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

Thanks so much for your help. I just spent a few hours scrubbing through a couple retailers & sites. You were absolutely right about the 27" displays (among other things), the 4k unit was only about 12% more in price. In the end I just ordered:
21:9 34" 1440 + 16:9 27" 2160
I also got a 21:9 29" 1080 to pair up with the Dell 23" that I have, for the wife's desk.

https://www.amazon.com/LG-29UM68-P-29-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01B9IDLAW

I hadn;t intended to go all LG, the specs vs the price just worked out that way in the end. Plus I can tell Mrs. Nikuk that LG was having a year end sale...

u/f15herk1ng · 1 pointr/Monitors

Agreed. I really want to pull the trigger on the LG 27UD68-P; unfortunately, it's a FreeSync monitor. :(

u/Haart711 · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

You will definitely prefer the 29 inch acer + 23 inch dell to your current setup. Whether it's worth the $800 only you will know.

In the UK our prices are 20% more than the US so converting what's value for money is tricky. Personally, and this is only me, if I put down that kind of money I usually don't do it as a "holdover" plan. Then again, if you are fairly wealthy then that shouldn't matter. Personally I'd spend that bit more to get something that I love and will last for 3 years+. But that's me!

The only thing I will say, going from your current monitors to 1080p 29" is an improvement, but you can never go back once you go up the ladder. Case in point, I hate using my old triple monitor setup or even using a simple 1080p 27" monitor at work - I'm going to replace my work monitor with an ultrawide even though I only use it a few hours a week lol. I could also not use a 1080p ultrawide anymore because 1440p ultrawide is so good.

Also 4k monitors have come down in price a lot e.g.

https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UD68-P-27-Inch-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B01CH9ZTI4

It's my 4k monitor with my asus 34" one and it works really well, I love the thin bezels on it.

As you said, you may not need a 4k monitor but an ultrawide + 2nd monitor may be a very good option for you if you used three monitors a lot. You will love racing games on a 29inch ultrawide but whether you go for that or save up a bit more and go for a 34inch ultrawide at 1440p is only something you can decide.

u/PussyLiquorStoreOwnr · 1 pointr/xboxone

I use a 27" LG 4k almost exactly this model https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UD68-P-27-Inch-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B01CH9ZTI4 for pc gaming and i'll be purchasing an xbox in nov. i'm VERY happy to see that free-sync is supported already, or i just lucked out. it's legit orgasm worthy in gaming.

4k is the future.

u/dnrya001 · 1 pointr/editors

By broadcast do you just mean broadcast on TV? The stuff I work on is mainly distributed online, at small theaters (film fests) and a few things on VR headsets (excuse my lack of knowledge in that area). I've pretty much always worked with 8bit so maybe I'll be fine. Any bigger projects a hire a true colorist anyway.

I found this one that seems to be a slightly different version than the TB3 version. Any thoughts on this? https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UD68-P-27-Inch-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B01CH9ZTI4

I'll try to rec parts from https://mdcomputers.in and https://www.primeabgb.com

CPU: For now, Ryzen 5 1600 , 13900

Mobo: Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3 8059, has good VRM cooling and NVMe support

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GBx1, 3000MHz,12100, buy 2 if you can.

If you can not, an alternative will be GSkill Flare X 8GBx2, 13562

SSD: Samsung 860EVO, 6050

HDD: WB Blue 1TB, 2920. Could also go for a 2TB HDD, price difference will be about 2k

GPU: MSI 1080ti Gaming X, 72500. One of the better 1080tis

PSU: Corsair CX650m semi modular 80+ bronze, 5700

Case: Cooler master mastercase lite 5, 3600

Monitor: Samsung 23.5" 4k TN, 28200. Pretty small for a 4k monitor.

If you need a larger one, LG 27UD68P, 37,944, and a IPS to boot.

Notes: Ryzen 2000 series will be available for purchase in 2 months, you may consider that. Also, NVIDIA is rumored to launch new GPUs soon, so also look out for that. This build is a beast an will run most stuff released till 2017 in 4k60 with High-Ultra mixed settings. Also, you may opt for a 1440p monitor. Buy keyboard and mouse to your fancy.

Total cost: 1.45L to 1.6L

I'm trying to choose between this monitor from Amazon, with Dell's 3 year warranty, or an alternative LG at Best Buy with a 4 year Best Buy warranty... would you say your experiences with Dell customer service have been mostly positive so far? This seems like a great monitor, but then I read about wake from sleep / light bleed issues, and how people tend to send it back to Dell a lot.

u/Petermh · 1 pointr/Monitors

tl;dr trying to figure out what's important for me. Looking for 1) ~27", 2) curved (just a preference), 3) high refresh rate (not sure how important this is), 4) IPS (not sure how important this is), 5) 1440p (or 1080p?), 6) VESA mountable, 7) low blue light, 8) flicker-free, 9) tiny bezel for a multi-monitor setup for long hours of non-media and non-gaming related usage.

Looking to get a new monitor setup and have put in some 15-20 hours of research, and I feel more lost than when I started.

For programming/reading/daytrading (and not gaming/doing media related stuff), what should I be looking for and what criteria should I be evaluating? I'm trying to maximize screen area across a multi-monitor setup (4-8 monitors total for 2 rows) and ease on the eyes for long hours of work (so: flicker free and low blue light), I don't really care about color range/trueness.

Size: looking for 27" as that's the largest that can realistically be mounted on a desk stand in a multi-monitor setup.

Panel type: TN/IPS/VA - what's best? I'm seeing a lot of conflicting opinions but it seems that TN is cheapest, VA best for gaming (?) / media, IPS best otherwise?

Curve: I think I prefer curved - opinions?

Resolution: 4k seems like a waste, leaving 1080/1440. It seems that the limiting factor for taking in data from my monitor setup would be my vision as opposed to the number of pixels per screen given that I'll have at minimum 4x27" monitors. If that's true, how much advantage is there really to 1440 versus 1080?

Refresh rate: is high refresh rate actually worthwhile/easier on the eyes [for not gaming]?

Response delay: Not really a consideration for usage unrelated to gaming.

Flicker-free/low blue light: Sounds nice, potentially the most important factor, but horribly subjective -- how do you actually quantify this? It's listed on some monitors and not on others, but never quantified. Is this a real/worthwhile thing, and am I to just believe that it works fine on any monitor that mentions these features?

Mounting: looking to get a 2x2/2x3/2x4 monitor setup, so VESA mount is critical. Further, it seems that I'm realistically limited to 27" monitor size due to monitor stand limitations (I don't want to mess with wall-mounted arms). If there were some good >30" monitors I might be able to make a 2x2 setup work (Samsung's 49" looks sooo fantastic but seems tragically awkward/difficult to make work in a multi-monitor setup due to weight/size).

Brand names: Recommendations? I keep reading through horror stories about dead pixels from foreign/less heard of brands that only produce monitors. Anything to watch out for?

Some monitors I've been looking at:

(1)

pros: 27", curved, 1440p, 144Hz, VESA mount,

concerns: VA and not IPS (is this even bad?), doesn't mention "flicker free" (but it's 144Hz? are refresh rate/flicker-free even related? idk), complaints about dead pixels

https://www.amazon.com/VIOTEK-GN27D-Curved-Computer-Monitor/dp/B078P57ZWL/

(2)

pros: 27", 1440p, 144Hz, IPS (!!!), mentions flicker free, good brand

concerns: not curved, pricey, doesn't mention low blue light

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/

(3)

great (best?) brand (Asus), 31.5" is a good size but might be awkward/hard to mount, options are straight+1440p+75Hz and curved+1080p+144Hz rather than the ideal curved/1440p/144Hz, really great sounding blue light/flicker free tech (subjective though)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=0JC-001P-00A25

(4)

Asus, 27", IPS, 1440p, not curved, pricey (165Hz is overkill)

https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM/

(5)

Asus, 27", IPS, 1440p, requires out of stock adapter to VESA mount, low refresh rate

https://www.amazon.com/Designo-MX27AQ-2560x1440-Frameless-Monitor/dp/B00VRKVGSC

curved+IPS+high refresh rate+1440p seems like a hard combination to come across, though I'm not sure that those are important features.

beside that it is not a 4K monitor.. it will work at 1080p..wait Q2 2017 for a 4K one.

the 4K/non HDR ones will be cheaper (300$) and the 4K/HDR ones should be available around 500/600$

this one 4K@60hz and hdmi 2.0 will certainly drop to 300 or 400$..
