Here's what I bought - it's $30 over the $500 limit now, but was $496 when I bought.

It only does a fake version (less nits) of HDR.

But it's a great monitor.

I have a Samsung ks8000 and have been super happy with it but I recently bought this monitor:
LG 27UK650-W 27" 4K UHD IPS Monitor with HDR10 and AMD FreeSync Technology (2018) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4c2XBbJFF6GMC
It has been incredible and I honestly prefer to play on the monitor now. Figured I'd throw this out there since you PC game as well

u/_-KAZ-_ · 3 pointsr/Monitors

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to 4k screens. But yea it's probably possible if it's 4k at 60hz without HDR. For web design development (if you mean graphics as well as code) it would be good to get an IPS type panel.

Had a quick search and found;

  1. LG 27UD68P. Old monitor, but still popular.

  2. LG 27UK650. Hey! It's got HDR10, but not sure if that's true or marketing. 500 bucks though :(

  3. Dell P2715Q. 400 bucks. Make sure you have a GPU with Display Port for 60hz, as according to the specs, HDMI is only 30hz.

Also don't be afraid to look for 32" 4k monitors. The pixel density on those are excellent too.

EDIT 1: Added more info on products listed.

EDIT 2: Actually the Dell S2719DM that you linked is probably the best option.

After much searching I settled on this: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV

and its absolutely gorgeous imo

u/Jc36 · 3 pointsr/india

Dell panels are infamous for their horrible quality control. I have heard many stories similar to yours. My LG 27" 4K IPS panel has no bleed, and no bright pixels so far. It cost me 32k, its current model costs around 31k. I do not know about LG's replacement policy, I have used mine for 4+ years, working fine so far. However LG support in consumer electronics is generally good.

u/WinterIsComin · 2 pointsr/Monitors

You don't need to worry about 144hz, the consoles can't take advantage of that anyway. On the other hand, there are a decent amount of games for Xbox One X that can actually run at near 4k resolutions, so I'd recommend getting a a 60hz 4k panel with the best colors possible. I'm not as knowledgeable on specific models as others on this sub, but from some quick research this 4k IPS LG panel seems decent and squeaks into your budget.

How about this guy:

The monitor I recommended initially is fairly cheap, so the next cheapest comparable option will be this. Does that fit your budget, still?

u/SpiderManDS23 · 2 pointsr/Xbox_One_X

Of course not, happy to help. No way, i would not get that. I think your too focused on size and making this a replacement for your tv. There are many other things to consider when choosing a monitor such as hz, panel type, response time, input lag and resolution.

For Xbox One X, yes 4K 60HZ is a must if you want to get the value out of it, huge impact for sure.

I would go with an IPS panel for better colors and viewing angles with a response time not more than 5ms and input lag maxed at 10ms.

This will be great. Has freesync too!

Also remember, when using a monitor your sitting much closer so the bigger it is, that can also be an issue. 27inch is the sweet spot.

u/Grandpa_Shorts · 2 pointsr/Monitors

So I've been doing research for a similar monitor with a similar price range. Bottom line is you're not gonna get a "real" hdr monitor for under 500 right now. Just the psuedo ones. Anyway here are some monitors I've been keeping my eye on.

Dell U2718Q ($460 on us amazon)

BenQ EL2870U ($490)

LG 27UK650-W ($549)

The last one is a little over your budget but it's the one i'm most interested in. wish rtings.com would review it.

I just ordered this monitor, it seems to have pretty good reviews for PS4 pro as well.

u/BennyGoId · 2 pointsr/PS4

I wouldn't get a Samsung 4K TV since there's an incompatibility issue with some Samsung brand 4K TV series that results in the display flashing to a black screen pretty often.

If you're looking to really push the hardware, get a 4K display. I'm more of a monitor guy myself, so I'm probably gonna get this once I save up enough money: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1537300562&sr=8-2&keywords=lg+4k+hdr10

I've never seen it drop down lower than $440. I think the features this monitor has should be what the TV you're thinking about getting should have.

u/Farren246 · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Monoprice rebrands these and sells them for $399.99 USD. (With expensive shipping and tariffs on top.), however they do have one open-box for only $199.99 USD which could be useful if these Amazon ones run out.

For those interested in it, you're probably interested due to image quality coupled with screen real-estate. In that case, may I recommend the HDR10+ version from LG. It is not on sale today, but went on sale last Black Friday so it may be on sale come tomorrow. Monoprice used to also have a rebrand, but it's not on their website any more.

Monitor! I just got this one:

LG 27UK650-W 27" 4K UHD IPS Monitor with HDR10 and AMD FreeSync Technology (2018) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_EOkUamXnVpvhU

It’s already improved my game thanks to how fluid everything feels and looks. I had an old samsung monitor before this that was like a 20ms response time but never maintained a true 60Hz refresh rate. Now I find myself hitting great flicks and tracking is easier, too.

u/esketit_teeto · 2 pointsr/reddeadredemption
u/Dant2142 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Ok, so here are the only real choices that exist right now, as far as I can tell.

LG 27UK650-W (https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV)--This supports HDR, and Freesync over HDMI, but is an IPS-type panel, so by its nature its response time will be higher than 1ms. There's another caveat too: Because its not Freesync 2, you have to choose between HDR and Freesync at any given time, you can't have both at once.

BenQ EL2870U (https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-EL2870U-3840x2160-Brightness-Intelligence/dp/B078HWN5CX) This is about the only TN-Type HDR monitor I know of, so you get 1ms response time, but I can't find affirmative evidence that this will support Freesync over HDMI, and even if it did, it has the above monitor's problem of seeming being only Freesync 1, so you'd still have to choose between Freesync and HDR.

Samsung C27HG70 (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LC27HG70QQNXZA-C27HG70-27-Inch-Monitor/dp/B06XSQ5QN8) There's also a 32" version of this---This looks like the only Freesync 2 monitor on the market right now, so you get HDR and Freesync at the same time. The catch is that its not 4K, only 2560x1440. The panel response isn't quite 1ms, being a VA-Type panel, but its pretty close, and you'll have to do a firmware update on the monitor before the Freesync will be actually useful (out of the box Freesync range is 72-144hz, so useless for an Xbox. The update drops the minimum to 48hz). It also has not so great reviews, mentioning things about flickering in the lower Freesync range, so, consider this one with caution.

And that's it. Sadly, there's a consistent reality that monitors and their production are at least a year behind available technology for whatever reason.

This is the one I bought. I havent had any problems, had it for about 4/5 months. Graphics are amazing on 4K compatible games and they let you really customize the settings. No complaints

u/degnebbit · 1 pointr/Monitors

Lastly (sorry for all the replies) do you agree with Rtings that the LG 27UK series is superior to them all in value? https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-Adjustable-Stand/product-reviews/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_cr_othr_d_show_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews Looks like their main reason for supporting it in that Nvidia can support it.

I use the LG27UK650 and it is awesome. The only downside is the response time, but the monitor has freesync so lag is not a problem.

It should arrive this Tuesday. I'm looking forward to trying it out with my XB1X. I was hoping for a curved display that I could also use for my laptop but I decided to go with a flat panel for the HDR.

u/apiratepony · 1 pointr/Xbox_One_X

If you are only using it for games, I'd highly recommend you look into a monitor instead of a TV. The quality and response times are much better, and you can pickup something like this (I have the model that doesn't telescope up/down) with FreeSync capabilities. Hopefully somebody can come along with a TV recommendation if that's what you're after.

Its not 1000 nit brightness, but OP didn't ask for that, he just wants something compatible with his PS4

u/AnonBB21 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I've never really been a person to play games on Ultra settings and push it to the limit. As long as I can comfortably play even new releases I'm pretty satisfied, but if I can get more out of it, that's cool too.

I have this monitor if it matters: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550002305&sr=8-1&keywords=LG27UK650

And some dinky like 16 inch Viewsonic for my second monitor.

Yes, it is. My TV does 4K and HDR and was around $800 two years ago, and 27" monitors with the same specs are around $450 nowadays.

I pulled the trigger on a Samsung C32HG70 over the weekend cause the price went down to $460 on Amazon. But the price jumped to $550 today!

I highly suggest looking into the LG 27UK650. It has 4k with HDR. It's an IPS display also (amazing colors but slow GTG latency). The only down side is that it's 60hz, so it's a bit weak on the PC side. But this is a good deal right now on Amazon at $396! It's the cheapest it's ever been. If you want amazing colors at 4k... this is your best bet. If you want 144hz with 2k super sampling, VA Panel with 1ms GTG and also has HDR... go with the Samsung C27HG70.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/?coliid=IH05Q9ZMG3Y6&colid=3OAWWDZBFQ45P&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

(Side Note) Even though Samsung C27HG70 and the C32HG70 are 2K monitors, the PS4 Pro downscales everything to 1080P for all monitors that are 2K. THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE with the Samsung models. The PS4 Pro recognizes these monitors as 4K and the monitor will do all the super sampling. In my opinion, this is an amazing feature that I've only seen on this Samsung display.
