One of my sibs is prone to tangles and mats. I brush both every night with this:

I like the coated tips because it feels less risky when brushing around the butt and backs of legs.

My main suggestion is to just brush really frequently so nothing too serious builds up.

I love this one. At first I wasn't sure it worked but now that shedding season has begun I see that it works great. I have a dutch so regular length hair and it doesn't pull but you should be gentle obviously. I also tried the sticky mitten thing, not so hot.

For my 14-week old kitten.

Nano, my kitten, has a difficult time grooming himself since he is a munchkin (imagine a T-Rex trying to scratch his face) and often gets his food or medicine (for worms) stuck in his fur and it ends up matting. I don't have a cat brush at the moment, nonetheless one intended for kittens, so this would be totally awesome to receive.

It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

P.S.: Picture of kitten.
