That's a fairly normal issue, but I know it's frustrating. There are a few things to try!
First off, use some lube on yourself before you put the condom on (if you use too much it will just get squeeze off, no big deal). Step 2, is to try several different sizes. There are a few different diameters of XL condoms, and i wouldn't be surprised if you have to try many different ones to find the one that best fits you. My advice here is to shop around for singles or sample packs, either online or at a local sex shop (Everyone knows that using condoms sucks, so nobody is going to give you a hard time about trying to find one that fits well). I've personally had good luck with these. 3rdly is, try these on alone (again, lube is crucial here). Just put on some music/candles/porn or whatever your flavor is, and try putting them on with full lighting and no one watching.
