Turn CEC on, use buttons mapped to tv functions to control Chromecast when it's active. If using a receiver, you may need to map your receivers buttons to control the Chromecast.

Problem is, you can't just turn CEC on for one device unless you physically modify the HDMI cables for the other devices OR get this adapter:

OR you can buy a Google Home for $99 and just do it with your voice.

Have you thought about preventing that HDMI-CEC signal from being sent from the receiver to the Apple TV by using a CEC-killer?

I believe that may prevent the power-down issue.

ARC is great, the problem is the implementation of it, and requiring the use of CEC with it.

Because CEC sucks ass so bad there are devices that remove CEC like this https://www.amazon.com/Lindy-HDMI-Adapter-Female-41232/dp/B00DL48KVI

The issue you are personally having is that the TV and AVR aren't working together with CEC enabled, so one tries and takes over the other and just causes conflict between each other.

You can use this adapter

Or find pin nr 13 in hdmi plug and remove it, I cut away plastic on top of plug and find nr 13 and cut it.

CEC is a nightmare. Disabling it mess up ARC but having it causes havoc with my Harmony controlled system. Solution was to by CECless inline filters. Not really filters but just a disconnected pin. You can Google that and do it yourself to an HDMI cable. Also works, but tedious.

No sure I completely understand your setup/issue but you can purchase inline adapters that disable the CEC data pin, effectively preventing CEC data exchange between two devices.

This will disable ALL cec commands on the receiving device. There are other options you can look into that can permanently fix and make up for the inadequacies of the CEC protocol and device manufacturers piss poor implementations but they aren’t cheap or by any means simple. If you are interested, look into the CEC commander function available on a few of the devices from HDFury.

Fuck it, you need to get medieval on the PS4 PRO.

Block pin 13 and see what happens. Looks like sony dont want to be left out CEC loop.

Could something on the PC software wise be sending CEC (what LG calls simplink) commands ? Windows itself does not support CEC but various Kodi based OS like libreelec do.

Is the TV in PC mode (input icon changed to PC) or in game mode ? also is the PC sending anything other than PCM stereo audio ?

If this is a CEC problem a possible workaround is to get a CEC less adapter, this will pass through the HDMI signal but disables the CEC portion.

If the TV is getting a CEC command and waking then perhaps a filter would do the trick. Here is an HDMI adapter that doesn't have pin 13 which is the one that CEC uses.

I understand, the samsung implementation doesn't let you turn it off from what I've found. You can turn CEC / anynet off but it doesn't disable the auto power setting.

only thing i found re: CEC-less adapter is this: https://www.amazon.com/Lindy-HDMI-Adapter-Female-41232/dp/B00DL48KVI

Any other suggestions for products to look at? I can definitely return this splitter if I can find a cable that works as well.
