Good call. Orange Linear Algebra is an awful textbook. It's unfortunate Scheick isn't still being published. It's a very solid introductory book, imo.

I really liked Scheick's book and used it to prepare for my preliminary exams, but it's getting mildly hard to find.

I have heard good things about Shilov, but I know of one person who strongly dislikes it as well. Same goes for Linerar Algebra Done Wrong.
