This depends on what kind of 1/4" to 3.4mm cable you're using.

Your pre has balanced 1/4" TRS connectors. If you connect a single TRS 1/4" to TRS 3.5mm cable, then you'll be sending balanced mono audio into your Xbox which will be expecting stereo audio instead. That could be what's going on. If that's the case, you are likely getting audio cancellation hence, no sound.

What you should be using if you're not already, is a dual 1/4" TS to single TRS 3.5mm cable. That will send stereo into your Xbox. However you might only be getting the mic on the left or right and not both depending on how your interface handles stereo.
