Liquid chalk got me through powerlifting in a university gym. Amazon sells this and it smells like coconuts. I just keep refilling the small bottle and leave it clipped to my water bottle.

It may have just been a bit hotter causing your palms to be sweatier, or you could have been using a bar with worse knurling.
Level 1: buy some chalk, or some liquid grip if your gym doesn't allow chalk. This will make a HUGE difference.
Level 2: when your grip starts failing with chalk, switch to mixed grip for your heaviest set.
Level 3: if your grip is failing with mixed grip and chalk, buy some straps.

My gym has the same rule. I was getting to the point that, even with mixed grip, it was hard to keep a good hold on the barbell for multiple reps. I just started using a liquid chalk-type product this week, and it has helped a lot.

If your gym doesn't allow chalk then get Liquid Grip. I actually like it better than chalk, it makes no mess, and hardly needs to be reapplied.
