edit: Are there any of these that I would have to be put to death for not ordering? :D I have this hole in my pocket you see...

edit2: swapped ending price and discount on G710+ - would have been a much better deal though...

edit3: prices are beginning to rise back to normal/sell out. Sad days.

edit4: Amazon is apparently going to try to get re-stocking done throughout the day to allow more purchases at the sale price. If it's out of stock when you look the first time, check again in a while. I'll try to keep this list up-to-date as best I can.

edit5: Even better, for me anyway. Looks as if if they are going to stop re-stocking the items, they are completely removing the item from the page I linked. If you see a strike-throughd item above, it WAS here, now it's gone Johnson. Again, will update as I can.

edit6: Nope. Bastards are re-adding items to the page... grumble grumble... :D

edit7: I decided to dig a little bit, and turns out, if you follow my links in this post rather than only relying on just the deal page itself, they are updated more frequently and accurately. So, use these links in conjunction to the thread title, and you may very well benefit! Still updating, sleepy times soon though... Maybe...

edit8: That's all, she wrote! Some of the items prices are retaining their sale value as of this last edit, so, maybe it'll be a new list price for them, who knows, but I am marking the sale as over, since the link is now officially pointed into oblivion.. Thanks for the wonderful day of sales and discussions, and for those of you who got some new equipment, congratulations! Hope you enjoy them!

SENSITIVITY
---------------------------------

Sens is personal preference, and that's just the end of it. Here you have clockwork playing with 20"+/360, and then yz50 with a much higher sens. And they are both in Invite, and have different playstyles.

In the end, NEITHER is objectively better than the other. You can even use 1cm/360 in COUNTER-STRIKE, if you wanted to. Here's the issue...

Higher sens has a steeper learning curve.

It's much different using only your fingers to make the smallest of movements, compared to sliding your whole arm across the mousepad.

As higher sens is... well... more sensitive... there's a much larger chance you can make errors.

BUT.

This can easily be overcome with practice. Though you might spend more time training to be able to headshot soldiers out of the air with a high sens compared to a low sens, it is the same in the end.

I want you to choose a sensitivity that's COMFORTABLE for you. Don't fall into the idea that "lower is objectively better" from CS. I can assure you, it's not.

MICE
-----------------------

If you haven't already, pick up a nice mouse. Forget "positive acceleration" or "negative acceleration." I know it's a controversial stance, but choose a mouse that is COMFORTABLE, and is accurate based on what you can tell. If you can't tell a G500 has accel, and think it's just as accurate as a Zowie FK, then you can get it! If you aren't comfortable, your performance will go down.

That means no stock mice.

Make sure it won't malfunction if you swing it too fast. I don't mean at 100 miles per hour, but judge it based on the FASTEST turn you would ever do. In order to test this, I'd temporarily use clockwork's sensitivity and try to do a 360. If the mouse malfunctions (tracks oddly or keeps going after you've stopped moving) it's no good.

Laser or optical. Doesn't matter to be completely honest, as long as you're comfortable.

Some pretty good ones:

  • CM STORM SPAWN Small little mouse, great for claw grip. Rubber grips, Omrons, perfect tracking, the usual. Notable users: Platinum

  • [Logitech G500s] (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Adjustable-Weight-Tuning/dp/B00CJD4HD2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394935251&sr=8-1&keywords=g500) A huge palm grip mouse. It's laser, but some people like Taggerung love it. Comfortable, and widely available. Notable users: Taggerung

  • Zowie FK Some say it has the best tracking of any mouse ever created. Sensei-style small-ish mouse, claw/fingertip grip. Mine comes in the mail the 20th. However, not widely available. Try a Sensei to get an idea of how this feels. Notable users of it's predecessor: cookye

  • Logitech G400s Typical, super-ergonomic overengineered palm-grip mouse from Logitech. Perfect sensor. Inspired by the fabled MX518. If you hear about issues with the cable, Logitech has excellent customer service and will help you out in a heartbeat. Notable users: enigma, ruwin, PYYOUR, TLR, b4nny

I'm going to say to keep away from Razer mice. Had a couple bad experiences with them. Like when my Deathadder from 3 months ago broke when I was just browsing Reddit... (Piece that contacted with the Omron Switch snapped... in half.)

    Choose what works for you.

    MOUSE SETTINGS
    ---------------------------

Mouse accel. Mouse accel. Unless you're dead set on it, like Swag from Complexity, turn it off. TF2 doesn't have linear acceleration, so the learning curve for it is ridiculous.

Turn it off in both TF2's settings AND Windows (Enhance Pointer Precision)

This will improve your consistently drastically.

Throw on Raw Input to bypass all of the strange calculations Windows puts on mice.

Keep Windows Sens to 6/11, so the computer won't have to "scale" your movements up or down.

    "BODYSHOTTING IS FOR LOSERS"
    -----------------------------------

Go ahead and sit on your scope. If you don't feel confident you can hit the target, aim for center mass, charge the scope up, and fire. Who cares, if that bodyshot gets you a pick on the enemy med?

This also leads up to playing passively. Some snipers DO play this way. Watching chokes. Not being inside them. I'm one of them. This will alleviate tons of stress, and it will really reduce the chance that you can get killed. How's a scout supposed to reach you if you're on Roof on Badwater, and he can't see you?

    MOST IMPORTANT THING
    ------------------------------

Chill out. Listen to some music. Remember games are meant to have fun, not stress over. If you're having a rough day on Sniper, switch it up! Scout's a good way to practice hitscan without actually playing Sniper. Taunt after every kill. Throw in a huntsman every once in a while.

Once you begin to become great at Sniper, it'll be second nature. And you'll genuinely enjoy the class too.

Oh, and getting accused of hacking. Get to that level, and it's the most hillarious thing in TF2.

    Oh.

    And...

Practice... A lot. Many good Snipers have hundreds of hours on that class. It will fall into place in time.

    And be confident.

    >"You miss every shot you don't take."

I use a Logitech G400s which is the successor to the much loved Logitech MX518. I had a MX518 for 8 years before the cord got pulled out on accident.

Really comfortable mouse, accurate, well made, good price. Buttons on top to adjust DPI on the fly. 3 Year warranty from Logitech.

Steelseries Kana V2 or Logitech g400.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SteelSeries-Kana-v2-Black-Gaming-Mouse-100-NEW-Original-Boxed-SEALED-/121183167142?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c371462a6

If you already own the mice you mentioned, I would say stick with Kinzu V2. Logitech G500 is ok but a tad gimmicky. Weights and excessive DPI/CPI switch options, also I believe the sensor has prediction and acceleration.

u/Modbacon · 6 pointsr/osugame

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G400s-Optical-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00BCEK2LA/ref=dp_ob_title_ce this or the g400 are both really good and usually on sale for $40-$50 but the g400 isnt currently but the g400s is and theres no difference really other than the look

u/Ranguesy · 6 pointsr/osugame

If you stick with mouse, make sure it is well suited for your grip style. Personally I use a palm grip Logitech Mx518, I've used it actively for 6+ years and it still works flawlessly.

I would recommend Logitech if you want build quality + durability, I have literally worn the black plastic off of the button as well as completely flattened the feet. The G400 series is the same shape, with an improved sensor and reduced price. If you have a palm grip I would highly recommend getting one

u/EGDoto · 4 pointsr/DotA2

MX-518 , G-400 and G-400s

I have MX-518 but i think its not selling anymore, you have newer versions g400 and g400s,mouse have some nice weight and size very nice for hand,2 buttons for thumbs great to bind, also I think price is not too expensive for such a great gaming mouse.

u/Trash_Golem · 4 pointsr/hardware

I recommend the Logitech G400. It's like the G500, but with less bells and whistles, and a better sensor. If you must have programmable buttons, just go with the G500.

A good attempt at the 'best of both worlds' is the newer G400S, but I don't have any personal experience with it. As far as I know, it's just an improved version of the G400, with more features.

u/MWO_Iron_Curtain · 4 pointsr/OutreachHPG

I'd back this up. I've owned the G5 and currently own the G500s. The 400s and 500s are pretty similar, with the 500s having a higher DPI (4000 on the 400s up to 8200 on the 500s IIRC), two extra buttons, and the ability to add extra weights. Both right in your price range.

G500s

G400s

edit: info

u/MrGulio · 3 pointsr/hardware

I use the Logitech G400, which is apparently much more expensive now that the G400s came out.

The G400 and G400s use the same contoured shape for the mouse like MX518 (guess which mouse i used before?), which has been my main consideration when buying it.

This also has to do with how you hold the mouse, called your Mouse Grip. I've found the G400 body shape to be the most comfortable if you have a "Palm Grip" on your Mouse. Where as the shape of the Razer DeathAdder is more suited for the "Claw" and "Fingertip" Grips.

I should also mention that this styling is really only conducive to people who use their right hand to control their mouse as the shape is molded with the buttons on the left side of the mouse, assuming they will be hit with the thumb.

u/disgustipated · 3 pointsr/hardware

They have an updated version called the G400s. Only difference I can see is 4000dpi (instead of 3600), and different cosmetics.

It's a few bucks cheaper on Amazon right now, compared to the G400.

u/D4rthLink · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Not quite. I have the g400s but I believe the currently model is the g402.

u/Oh_Alright · 3 pointsr/anime

I'm no expert, but for mice you want something comfortable, preferably wired because wireless mice are less responsive.

I've been using the Logitech G400s for about 5 years now. It's served me well, but there's probably newer mice on the market that are cheaper.

If you're trying to game with it just get something with forward and back buttons that are programmable, and something that comes with mouse software to save and adjust sensitivity and other options. Just go with whatever feels best in your hand, because a fancy expensive mouse that's unconformable isn't really going to be as helpful as a lower end mouse that fits your hand like a glove.

For monitor you've got a couple choices.

Right now for high end monitors it's basically either 1080p plus monitors with great visual quality, or 144hz monitors that offer twice the refresh rate of regular monitors.

Higher visual quality is something that is nice, but I favor the higher refresh rate.

That's because the games I tend to play (FPS's with high framerates like TF CS and OW) play better with that kind of monitor. It's a little complex, and Bunnyhop did a solid entry level video about the benefits of going over 60hz.

Basically it's a decision between if you want your games to look better, or feel better.

But that's also a decision that's on the higher end of monitors, if you're just interested in a big screen you could probably do without these kind of fancy displays.

u/NotCEC · 3 pointsr/buildapc

This looks like a really well thought out build. Looks good. Some may advise against the CX line of PSU since it's a moderate level power supply which you're pairing with some premium parts. It will work fine though.

My only advise would be for your mouse and keyboard. Those aren't bad options, but for the Blackwidow, you're paying $90 mostly for Razer's "gaming" factor. There are a few more quality options for mechanical keyboards out there around the same price. Something like Das, Ducky, or CM. R/mechanicalkeyboards can give you more info if you're interested. More importantly though, is your mouse. For $65, you can get some really good mice. Based on your build, I'm assuming you are using it for gaming, so I would recommend the Logitech G400. I have an older model of this mouse (MX518) and it is fantastic. It's held up for years. If you're more interested in wireless, there are a few options. My wife uses the newer Logitech G700.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/edmproduction

I do some gaming, so I bought a good gaming mouse. The Logitech G400s. Even for non-gaming tasks, it is lightyears better than a regular mouse. It's a huge amount more comfortable, the sensitivity is nicer (on top of having several sensitivity settings, great for making really careful changes during a project), and the two side buttons are nice.

To be honest, after using something like that, I don't know if I could comfortably go back to using a regular $5 mouse. The expensive mice are just too nice.

u/wamesy · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you could spend 5 more dollars, the Logitech g400s is a great mouse, super comfortable, flawless sensor, etc. Otherwise, Logical Increments has a good mouse buying guide arranged by price, check it out.

I don't really know about the two you chose, they're pretty much no-name mice.

u/ShesNotATreeDashy · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

The 360 pad works out of the box with any xinput game, of which there are plenty and steam will even tell you which ones will work. As far as kb/m, I would recommend, especially in that price range, a high quality wired set.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0068INSUM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1376629230&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY190

This keyboard for 60, very nice board, I was considering it for my recent purchase but settled on a board with a different switch.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BCEK2LA/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1376629371&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX110_SY190

This mouse seems to be the universal recommendation, I personally don't like the shape, but the quality of the sensor and the body of the mouse are excellent.

Also out of curiosity does your computer have a dedicated gpu, because if not, that should be your first upgrade.

Anyway welcome to the world of PC gaming, enjoy your stay.

u/itsTokyo · 2 pointsr/Attackontitangame

My side mouse buttons. This mouse

u/madestro · 2 pointsr/buildapc

In your price range I would recommend the new G series from Logitech. Depending on the type of games you play you could go for the Logitech G400s or the Logitech G100s. I personally play more RTS and MOBA games so I got the 100s and also because I like my mice as light as possible.

Also remember to get a cloth mouse pad for these optical mouse you can get. Imho optical is definitely better to use because I prefer precision over speed. It also helps that they are cheaper. The best cloth pads are the Steelseries QCK line imo, and as you can see they are quite affordable.

u/Rithe · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Mine lasted many years too but eventually failed. The G400 is the spiritual successor and is the one I bought. I have tried many other mice and prefer that style. I would definitely recommend

There is also the G400S which I think just looks different but I didn't research it. There is the G500 but I owned this one for awhile and did not like the texture on it.

There are other brands but I'm a huge fan of this style so while I've tried others, I always come back

Though also have a $10 mouse I bought from CanadaComputers for use outside home, because a $10 mouse is much easier to replace.

u/escape_your_destiny · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Hey another G5 user! I still use mine too! I'm upgrading soon too, so I've been researching mice lately.

Look into the Logitech 402. It's not as crazy looking as the 502, and it also doesn't have the dual mode scroll wheel. But it doesn't have a tilt wheel, only the 502 does.

You can also still buy the 400s and the 500s.

u/RadWalk · 2 pointsr/PS3

I've bought this mouse model every couple years http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G400s-Optical-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00BCEK2LA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393910654&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g400s I love it. Mouse aiming is way better than on a control stick, it's no comparison.

u/zombie-poop-pie · 2 pointsr/buildapc
u/GTPC · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This depends on your budget, but I personally love the Logitech G400s but these are cheaper options out there such as the SteelSeries Kinzu V2 or the E-3lue cobra.

u/ericred22 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Get a used Logitech G400S for ~$35, one of the best mice money can buy. Many people would argue that it is better than a Razer Deathadder.

Because the razer abyssus could be a fit. Other suggestions include, but are not limited to: Deathadder 3.5g, Logitech G400s, Logitech G502, SteelSeries Rival (multicolored led), Minoix Avior 7000, and Roccat Savu,

u/_awful_waffle_ · 2 pointsr/youtubehaiku

I absolutely loved the G400, went through a few cause of dead cables. I've since switched over to the G400S, which seems pretty similar.

u/TommyyTG · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

The new Cloud9 (ex-Complexity) squad are sponsored by Logitech and will likely be using their mice at tournaments.

Hiko's got the G400 linked in his Twitch as his mouse.

u/cheesycoke · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Good $150 1080p 60hz monitor

Mech Keyboard for around $80 or A standard Logitech KB for around $15

Logitech G400s for $60 new, $30 refurbished/used or A standard wired mouse for about $10

Windows 7 or 8 don't cost anymore than $100 unless you're buying Pro for some reason, can get them very cheap on software swap subs or just pirate.

Excluding OS costs, that's $290 extra for a good gaming-centered setup, and $175 for a more budget-based setup. If you have a TV and wish to cut out monitor costs, you can hook your PC to a TV.

u/mithikx · 1 pointr/Stargate

Holy crap, my G5 lasted only 1.5 years or so (the wire at the base of the mouse becomes frayed, same for the G9. Then I got the G700 and that thing has lasted for years since it has a more resilient removable wire.

The G400s and G500s are the latest iteration of the G5/G500/MX500/MX510 shaped gaming mice if you happen to be seeking another one.

The G600 is a good MMO mouse if that's what you need, and the G700s is a superb gaming mouse if you need more buttons but not a number pad adhered to your mouse (the G700s runs data off a wired connection when plugged in).

Can't vouch for their other models aside from the MX Master which is more of a work mouse, and a great one at that.

I'm thinking about getting a new mouse. I tried some out in store the other day, to discover they all feel more comfortable than the cheap thing I have right now. I don't quite know what it is that I want.

  • Games: I don't have a primary atm, so a bit of everything. Though I rarely play fps games. [But I haven't tried Overwatch, and that might change my mind]. No MMO or MOBA. But I'll be using the mouse daily for everything, including general browsing and use while researching etc.

  • Handed: Right. Though I do sometimes use my mouse in my left, so maybe ambidextrous. Not a requirement though, as I can happily use a right-handed w/ my left.

  • Budget: Maximum at £50. But would prefer lower [since I don't need bells and whistles].

  • Hand size: Average, ish. 17cm tip of the middle finger to the base of the hand. I think that's what you're asking for. 8cm sideways.

  • Grip type: I tend to grip w/ my fingertips, and pivot on the 'ball' of my hand/ wrist. But I also change, and sometimes use others for a bit. edit: I think my grip type is heavily dependent on the mouse I'm holding. I tried a Mionix and it was comfortable.

  • Weight: I don't know, I've never held a 'heavy' mouse before. So I'll just say average.

    Any other details:

  • I generally would like to be able to adjust my mouses sensitivity on-mouse via buttons.

  • I don't want any configuration via software i.e. plug and play. [as I use linux, and drivers are generally a bitch]

  • No LEDS [or atleast disableable], and it can't look too gamery.

  • Buttons near the thumb for browsing: back-up, go-forward type things.

  • Preferably black or grey, but not required. Preferably non-obtuse logos, but not required.

  • Since I don't play fps, I especially don't need a mouse that they tend to like, with really low sensitivity and sliding your hand all over the table to use. I don't have much desk space, and due to my fingertip-pivot-grip I need a sensitivity such that I can maneuver my cursor around my 24" monitor w/ ease.

  • Wired

  • Not a requirement, I don't know if such things exist, but - quiet? Do quiet mice exist?

Since I don't know too much about mice, I'm quite open for suggestion, and I don't think I'm too picky and could have my mind changed if you recommend something. If there are any features [esp. ergonomic ones] you think would be useful to me, please tell me.

    ---

Also - What's with the mice with the free wheeling scrolls? Is there a list of mice that use this? What are the general uses for this? Looks quite fun though... So, if it's a choice that I can get w/o many sacrifices, I wouldn't say no.

edit: I'll not have a look over logical increments if anything catches my eye. But I doubt it since I don't really know what I'm looking for. This Logitech G400s and Razer Deathadder are the kind of look I'm trying to avoid.
u/Shifuede · 1 pointr/hardware

> It's $120! Lol....not so budgety....

What? What crackhead is charging that much. According to ebay the MX518 is $39. It wasn't even that much new in 2006...I got mine on sale for $35, msrp $50.

I just noticed a cheap G400, the successor to the 518.

*edit: I just noticed there's a $25 MX518 on my ebay link, and a $29 free shipping 4th from the top.

My go-to mouse for EVERYTHING including CAD is the current Logitech G400 Optical Gaming Mouse. I've used this mouse since it used to be the MX518. I've found it to be the most ergonomically comfortable. So much so that I currently own 3 of them and have convinced 3 other people to buy them as well.

It's a wired mouse but I actually prefer that because wireless mice weigh more (due to batteries) and make my hand movements slower.

It has on-the-fly adjustable DPI and just works great.

If you like the Deathadders weight and size, then look into the MX518, or the newer versions of it such as the G400s. Ihaven't tried the g400S, but if it's clicking feel is anything like it's predecessors then it should be good.

MORAL OF THE STORY: NEVER EVER BUY RAZER SHIT UNLESS IT'S THEIR MOUSEPADS

Okay; there's a couple of mice I can recommend. There's the Logitech G400(s), which is a bit on the softer size but that might be from the size and shape of it. The left and right mouse buttons are a little flatter. I'm using a Razer DeathAdder 2013 right now and it's pretty similar to the Logitech, with what feels like a firmer switch.

Many people recommend the DeathAdder or the Logitech G400(s) as they both have a "flawless sensor". I currently have the G400s and it's really comfortable and has good build quality. It lacks a braided cable, but seems to be about $30 cheaper than the DeathAdder, so I won't complain

There is a link to a newer version on that page.

Here it is for $45 dollars

edit: apparently there might be a difference between the G400 and G400s, maybe the G400 were built and felt better?

Check out the G400s as an alternative to the G400. Link.

Personally, I think it's worth the extra money. I have a Zowie FK, and I can highly recommend that. A bit more expensive than the G400s though.
