Purchased this mouse for the same price about 6 months ago or so. Mine developed a double click issue a week after purchase, though I managed to remedy the issue by oiling the switches. It's also really heavy even with the weights removed. It does have the top optical sensor, however, and I did play rather well with it.

Edit: Have since upgraded to the Logitech G403 which is lighter, and a better shape (for me at least). The G403 has essentially the same sensor, and is far superior, in my opinion. It is also on sale for the same price currently

I am highly intolerant of the clickity-clack of mechanical keyboards.

I use a standard issue Lenovo OEM keyboard at work, and an old Logitech G15 at home.

At home I recently upgraded to a Logitech G403 and it's crazy smooth.

I liked it so much I bought it's wireless cousin the Logitech M705 for the office.

In my Laptop Bag I keep a Logitech Wireless Anywhere MX for anytime the trackpad isn't the right tool.

I really need a new mouse, but they are so hard to find a good one. The fricken "gamer aesthetic" is just embarrassing. It's all hard lines, bright lights, and "sick" logos.

This is my current mouse. I've had it for years. It's actually the second one because I replaced it at some point. I love the scroll wheel unlock thing that lets it spin freely, but little fibers (like dog hair) keeps getting stuck inside the cavity where the laser is. That causes the cursor to randomly stop. In my attempts to clean it out, I think I scratched the lens so now moving the mouse at a constant rate causes the cursor to move a little erratically. I'm forced to slow down my mouse movements and be more deliberate, which makes any game with even a little speed+precision to it difficult.

I ended up ordering this one (hasn't arrived yet as of this post). It doesn't have the scroll wheel thing, but I haven't seen any other mouse with that. This one only has a couple tiny points on the front instead of being absolutely covered in sharp angles anywhere, and it has LEDs, which hopefully can be turned off. It also has DPI-switching on the fly, which I will probably never use.

It seems like all mice are either "for business use and web browsing" or "for gamerz mountain dew mlg420weed", with almost no in-between. As if there's no one that both plays games and does web browsing on the same PC.

The g502 has too many unnecessary buttons in my opinion.

G403. It’s the one I have, and it’s treated me well. It’s on sale right now for a a couple dollars over your price range. Definitely worth it. Includes side buttons and programmable DPI. Pretty minimal RGB too. Some people don’t like the hump on this mouse so look up a video to see if it would be something you would like. RocketJumpNinja does great reviews on youtube. Best bang for your buck imo.

Its got a "top of the line" (according to Logitech) sensor, up to 1000hz polling rate and customizable DPI up to some ridiculously high number. Other than the specs, the size and shape of the mouse is perfect for my large hands.

Basically the way i went about choosing a mouse was I looked at what the pros use and chose the one I liked the best. Seagull uses the Logitech G Pro. So i went with the G403. Its the same exact specs as the G Pro, just with a larger and non ambidextrous design.

Why did I decide to spend more money on an expensive mouse? Smooth tracking/aim and no pixel skipping. IMO the difference between a fancy top of the line mouse and a basic shit tier mouse is night and day.

As for keyboard i have an older Razer Black Widow Ultimate that I've used for many years. So i recommend a solid mechanical keyboard. However if you had to choose between upgrading your mouse or your keyboard, I think your mouse is a way more important upgrade since thats what you use to aim.

The G403 Wired is currently 46.76 on Amazon, I suggest buying it. I've previously used the mouse for 3 months before switching to something smaller (smaller hand), but the shape, sensor, and weight were great.

I own the wired version, and can't be happier with it. It's a deceptively large mouse, so a palm grip will feel right at home with this mouse. Many people compare it as a compact Deathadder. And I tend to agree, that they share many similarities.

The wireless version is among one of the best, lowest latency wireless mice available on the market. It has the same performance as the excellent G900.

Have had this mouse for over a year

I've never accidentally pressed the sniper button. My thumb naturally tends to sit either directly behind it or right above it, depending on what I'm doing. If you have bigger hands, your mileage may vary though.

That said, it's developed the double click bug (left mouse button randomly thinks I'm double clicking sometimes), and I haven't been able to fix it.

While I personally LOVE the ergonomics of this mouse, with this apparently super common problem, I unfortunately can't really recommend it. Just snagged a G403 to replace it.

If you do not need too many buttons there is the g403 which has the same sensor as the g502, but is lighter by almost half and is easier to clean since it has no grooved sides.

I use a wired Logitech G403. A cheap mouse that's really excellent. All buttons feel on point and especially the front thumb button is great for venting while dodging. I also recommend a good soft mouse pad.

I can't sing the praises of the Logitech G403 Prodigy enough. Top of the line specs, but it blends in with the office environment, and just a touch of RGB. I use it for work and play, and the wireless version is perfect.

Well, even though I don't play much computer games aside from CS:GO and Osu, this is what my response to your question.

The Logitech G213 Keyboard is, in my opinion, very good for the price. As it is a cross between Mechanical and Membrane, and from my research, has something called Rubber Dome switches, which apparently keycaps for it is hard to find.

From what I have so far, it is a great keyboard for RGB lighting, and of course, budget price for a gaming keyboard. Which is also a great keyboard for in and outside of school (and a great keyboard for getting into competitive gaming). Along with your concerns, is great for typing. So a great keyboard for someone on a budget, as I said before. It is also why it's in the "Prodigy" line.

As for the logitech G403 mouse, it's pretty good, but for about $4 more, you can get a MUCH better mouse in the form of the Logitech G502 Proteous Spectrum, which on Amazon currently, is $4 more than the G403 "Prodigy" Mouse.

Though, if you need to have a review of the g403 mouse, here's mine. Basically, it's like any mouse, but with side buttons, RGB, and a DPI Scaling up to 12,000. While the the Logitech g502 has more buttons with better weight customization and a different build, making it either more comfortable or irritating. I suggest you try them out before buying, because it really matters on the person for a mouse, as there's TONS of different mice and grips.

As such, I hope you find the right mouse and keyboard for you.

But for my suggestions, here are mine. I haven't used them, but it's what I have seen.

My new work keyboard is a Corsair mechanical. I think it's this model (http://www.corsair.com/en-us/k70-lux-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-red-led-cherry-mx-red-na), but I'd recommend one of their keyboards that don't have a textured spacebar as that's quickly driving me up a wall. The keys themselves are responsive and surprisingly quiet.

The keyboard I've had forever was a basic Microsoft Multimedia keyboard, but if you want something with some more bells and whistles Logitech all the way. My old roommate gave me two G15s when she upgraded to mechanicals, and I've been rocking one ever since. I keep the other in the closet as a backup in case this one ever dies, but I doubt it will. It looks like the spritual successor is the G710 mechanical (http://www.amzn.com/B009C98NPY), with the G105 being a non mechanical, and thus way cheaper variant (http://www.amzn.com/B00BBUCCKO).

I also recommend their mice. The G400 I have at work and the G500s at home have consistently been one of the most comfortable models I've used. /r/mousereview can give you some more in-depth info, but there's a lot of options for high end mice. Sensor, shape, and extra buttons are the easiest to find differences between mice. RocketJumpNinja also has a lot of good info.


Currently Logitech (403/502) is really hyped along with Steelseries (release of the Rival and Sensei 310), but find something that fits you physically and mentally. Note: the G502 is 120g when empty, and you can find mice in the 80-90 range.


I'm gonna plug the MM520 as well for no good reason (because it's not even out yet and Cooler Master is infamous for QC issues on their mice). The ergonomic shell on the Xornet is amazing for me though.

Personally I feel cyborg looking mice are neither comfortable nor functional.

No 703 there. The 403 and 703 are different mice. Wherever you got your information from, and whoever upvoted your comment, you both should know your facts first.... The 703 is an updated 403 with Powerplay. They are still different mice.

No comment on any of the 3 as I haven't owned any of them, and can find very little information on them. In the same price range the G102/G203 depending on region is a solid buy, and for $10 more than the A90 you can get yourself into a G305 which is the wireless brother of the G102/G203/GPro. You can also look into the 403 wired if you would rather have an ergo mouse.

If budget is the main issue buy the 102/203 it wont let you down and is priced similar or lower to the ones you mentioned, if it isn't then I would look at better options than the 3 you mentioned and would still keep the little logitech in mind.

I really enjoy this mouse, and bought it for the same purpose as you. It's on sale as well, I purchased it for $60 but its going for $35 now.

The keyboard! You can get a MUCH nicer mechanical keyboard for a slightly higher cost.

I have this and it is really really good. I would recommend the cherry mx brown switches as they are a good middle option. Just beware. If you get him this, you could send him down the deep dark hole that is mechanical keyboard obsession/collection.

Also the mouse, I know you're trying to keep things cohesive with the razer stuff but in my opinion this is a better value and a nicer mouse.

Buy the keyboard and mouse from amazon, it is super simple to return and the most subjective element of the build. If he doesn't like it, he can send them back easily. Remember, he will interact with those two items more than anything except the monitor.

Don't sell yourself so short on peripherals, you can tell the difference between really cheap mice and keyboards and moderately priced ones. You don't have to go all out and spend 200 on a mouse and keyboard, but there's definitely options way better for 100 bucks all together. You'll see difference in build quality, design, ergonomics, durability, and reliability.

I need to get a new mouse but I only have $30 USD but I don't know what to get these are the mice I have narrowed it down to M1, M2, M3, M4. The mice I have used in the past have been G502 (nice shape but too heavy) G203 (I liked the shape pretty well) Mionix Castor (My favorite mouse so far love the shape) MM531 (I hate this mouse it's too low and long) thanks for the help.

Games: Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus, DOS 2, Kenshi, CS:GO, Overwatch.

Hand Preference: Right-handed.

Hand Size: 17.78 x 8.89 cm

Grip: I hold my mouse exactly like this I have seen people call it palm/fingertip hybrid as well as relaxed claw so I don't know.

Weight: I don't really have a preference but nothing over 105 grams.

Sensitivity: Depends on what game I'm playing and what I'm doing but I usually use 1600.

Connectivity: Wired.

Tempted with the G403 for $39.99 (despite the Hero version recently being launched).

Ive got a very similar / slightly worse rig, same exact monitor.

You won't really get much benefit from gsync because you wont be getting 165 fps in this game. Not only that but the game has an internal limit of 144 fps (can be edited via ini).

However, the monitor is pretty fucking tits.

Some things to critique / advice:

I would just suggest getting a larger M.2 drive instead of a 250GB M.2 SSD and 250GB Sata SSD.

I would get a different mouse and keyboard The keyboard just looks like ass (no offense) and you should definitely use a wired mouse for FPS. If you have problems with your mouse cord, get a mouse bungee. The G403 has one of the best / top tier sensors, and The G810 has very solid built mechanical keyboard without much extra bullshit

You seem to be purchasing two Amplifiers, The FiiO E10K is a DAC + Amp.

Not sure why you are purchasing two headphones, maybe just comparing? Whichever of the two you decide, they are fairly low impedance headphones and an external dac + amplifier are not needed. (Though I understand the want for quality as I do the same for my headphones)

I would suggest a desktop mic for gaming as that mod mic sounds like a salty asshole.

Do you have a 2nd Monitor? Single monitor life is plebian and you can pick up a second display for cheap around this time.
