These keys won't work with the 910.

The G910 is mechanical. It uses Logitech's proprietary (I think) Romer G switches. Which are said to be comparable (I'm no expert, but I thought they were similar enough) to Cherry MX Reds.

Source: Just got rid of mine after a year or so of trying to force myself to like it. The switches aren't terrible, but the keycaps are awful. They're oddly sized and shaped and the keys felt too far apart.

u/Nibiria · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I believe the L-shaped enter is only found on ISO keysets. See here for details on the difference. Most wrist rests will be external -- I actually only know of one with a built-in (nonremovable) wrist rest. Any keyboard can have macros with an external program, or do you mean inbuilt macro options? Or extra keys?

The only thing I can think of that mostly matches your criteria (Logitech uses their own switch type, but it's comparable to MX Browns with O-ring dampeners) is the Logitech G910 Orion. It supposedly comes in the ISO layout, but I can't find it anywhere so you would probably have to ask Logitech themselves how to order it. I also don't know how well put-together it is, because I've never looked into it.

Looking to buy my first mechanical keyboard. Usage is 50% typing, 50% gaming (lots of both, but the gaming tends to be casual), typically with the keyboard in my lap while on a couch but sometimes on a desk. No experience so I'm sort of guessing about what i think i'll want, but here's everything I'm using to try to pick one...

  • price: $150 USD or less. Can go up to $200 for one that's clearly better than cheaper options, but hoping not to have to. I'm in the US, so price would include shipping there.
  • layout: TKL or 75%. Strongly desire something smaller than full-size. Use F keys and home/end/del/pUp/pDown frequently, so don't think 60% or smaller would be a good idea. Would be moved around a lot, so slimmer and lighter is better, but not to the point where it feels bad to use.
  • switches: big guess here. I know that I want quiet as possible, so no blues/greens/etc. Suspect that I'm a light typer, so probably lower activation switches? Briefly tried a Razer BlackWidow Chroma, Logitech g910, and Corsair K65 RGB with mx reds at Best Buy. Hated the Logitech (felt squishy), disliked the Razer (liked the bump but too loud, too firm, and the caps felt bad), and loved the Corsair (switches felt crisp, actuation pressure felt good). From this I'm guessing my ideal MX switches would be Browns, but I haven't actually tried any, much less for an extended period.
  • backlighting: flexible on this. Can live with none, but some would be nice since I often have to put my hand back on the keyboard in a dark room. Ideal would be the ability to turn it on/off per key with different profiles per game. Barring that, lighting WASD-only or in a different color from everything else would be nice. Color preference (in descending order) would go RGB, orange, blue, white, purple. Green or red I would probably just leave turned off.
  • cord: because of use on a couch, cord must be able to take some light abuse. Removeable cords that plug straight into the back are probably no good. Ones that are better sheltered (like this Choco Mini) should be OK. Standard non-removeable should be OK. Wireless could work, but would need to be reliably latency-free with no cutting in and out. Wireless seems rare so I've been ignoring it in favor of more important factors.
  • customizability: ability to switch caps lock with left control is a nice plus. Any further programmability is a small plus. I don't care at all about ability to replace keycaps right now unless it's required to turn a bad board into a good board and the price is factored in. If I get to a point in the future where I want to start playing with custom keycaps I'll buy a second board then. So non-standard bottom rows and things like that don't bother me.
  • style: don't want anything beige or white. Really like the brushed metal look of the Corsair K65/K70. Standard black plastic is fine, ideally matte rather than glossy.
  • misc: I've seen a couple with thumb buttons. This sounds great to me in theory, not sure how well I'd use them in practice. Counting this as a small plus right now.

    Some boards I was considering:

  • Royal Kludge RC930-87 RGB with 45g switches. Right now the top of my list. Fits price, layout, cord, style, close to ideal backlighting, more than necessary customizability, and from what little I've been able to find on it the 45g switches (dental banded Topre clones) should feel pretty good to someone who likes reds and browns. Main problem with it is having to wait 3 months to get it from MassDrop (but I want it noooooow!).
  • Roccat Ryos TKL Pro. Fits price, layout, cord, switches, backlighting, customizability, and has extra thumb buttons (which sound great to me in theory, but dunno how much I'll like them in practice). Sort of fails in style (looks kind of ugly to me, and the sides and back seem unnecessarily bulky for a form factor that's supposed to be trying to save space, although the wrist rest is actually a small plus to me rather than a minus). Everyone seems to like telling people not to buy this board, but never says why, just gives responses like "No. Just no." What about it is so obviously bad that I'm missing?
  • Ducky Shine 3 TKL: Fits layout, cord, switches, customizability, style. Not sure if you can turn backlighting on/off per key or not. If so, fits backlighting well, otherwise so-so. Not sure about price since I don't know where actually to buy one. They seem to be sold out everywhere I look. Seems very highly recommended.

So... If anyone's still reading, any thoughts on the boards listed? Or any other boards I should be considering?

Edit: I should add that I'd be comfortable buying parts and assembling them myself, but when I looked at that quickly it seemed too expensive. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Shame that your copy of 5 doesn't work, and I guess it could be worse (could have only gotten 4).

In-depth how would you describe 7?

Also, for Christmas I got this, it is the most quite mechanical keyboard I've heard.

u/watusa · 1 pointr/computers

This one is my favorite. Programmable individual key backlighting control, templates for some pre-configured lighting, Macro keys, etc. Not a traditional Cherry MX key style but mechanical in its own right.

Edit: I should note that while it is a good keyboard it does take some getting used to. The key caps are oddly shaped and the spacing is slightly off. I'm actually looking into switching to a Corsair RGB but I'm patiently waiting as I don't really need one right now.

u/aroach1995 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Do I go for the K70, G910, or Razor Black Widow Ultimate Stealth

Looking for a full sized keyboard that I can game with without disturbing roommates. I prefer less noise. I have used a regular old keyboard my whole life, and now I feel like transitioning

u/Dintri · 1 pointr/LogitechG

did you buy it from here? Because it clearly does say it's from logitech if you did http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard-920-006385/dp/B00N3OELPU/ref=sr_1_1?srs=2528918011&ie=UTF8&qid=1457421168&sr=8-1&keywords=g910

But if you bought it from another reseller there then it's clearly not from logitech.

My brother just recently started building a gaming PC and hes been slowly upgrading (Nothing super fancy by any means). I'm looking to buy him a decent gaming keyboard and trying to take advantage of the Cyber Monday deals on some stuff.

Logitech G910 Orion, CORSAIR K65, or CORSAIR K63

I'm not sure if the difference between the three is negligible - if it is I'll just go the cheaper route. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don’t know if you already found what you are looking for, but I might recommend the Logitech G910. It has awesome (and I mean awesome) RGB; the custom Romer-G caps are similar to Cherry MX Browns, so, tactile like you like, and they have an even better response after actuation. Best of all? 9 dedicated macro keys.

It comes in two variants, the Orion Spark, which has sort of a flared key shape, if that’s your thing or the Orion Spectrum which has normal keys. Hope this helps

They're really not more expensive than their competitors. The only reason why people call them expensive is because they see Razer products as inferior for whatever reason (whether it be because of quality assurance, build quality, design etc) yet don't recognize these same exact problems in Corsair and Logitech products whether due to just preference or because it isn't talked about as much. Razer is the easy scapegoat when it comes to expensive peripherals, but really it's just that "gaming" branded hardware in general is expensive.

u/Milkshakes00 · -6 pointsr/GameStop

I'd recommend just saving, or buying the G910 from Amazon. It's down to $126 on Amazon.

A keyboard is like a monitor, spend bucks on it, because it'll last you years.

I wouldn't recommend any keyboard below $100, tbh. The Corsair k70 is good... But like I said, go big. The difference is large.

Edit: Lmao. Downvotes for recommending Amazon. This sub is so silly.
