I went with a Logitech F710. It can emulate being a X360 controller too. Works amazing. Even on things like the Raspberry Pi.

If you want to spend a bit more for a wireless option this one has been working nicely for me:

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000117-Gamepad-F710/dp/B0041RR0TW?ref_=ast_bbp_dp

Seems to work fine all the Tesla games.

No joke, once I tried something like that - but going even cheaper with everything: first, the cheapest Windows-compatible tablet I could find, then the cheapest XInput-compatible controller I could find and finally an OTG adapter to hook them together. It was awful. 3D games ran literally at seconds per frame, and 2D games didn't fare well either. But somehow it was able to run PSP games at full speed, go figure.

u/Sendour · 5 pointsr/pcmasterrace

well, its not ACTUALLY a xbox controller, but it does have the button scheme

I recommend the Logitech F710 for Emulation, MMOs, New games and old games alike. It has two separate input methods (Direct Input, and XInput) for the broadest compatibility.

I got the Logitech Gamepad F710. It came with a little USB Wireless adapter to plug into the USB port in the front console.

u/Robotman1974 · 3 pointsr/emulators

You could get a PlayStation 2 to USB adapter like this one, but you might want to try using a PS4 or PS3 controller instead. You can get them to work with Windows from what I've read.

You could also get a Logitech F710 controller. It has a layout almost exactly the same as what the PS2 has, and has rumble.

u/vgoldee · 3 pointsr/patientgamers

Logitech F710 wireless. Great controller for people used to PlayStation controllers, plus it's XBox 360 compatible. Even has a switch for legacy mode for games that don't like XBox 360 controllers. Here's the wired version.

u/mkaito · 3 pointsr/ffxiv

I finally got some batteries for my Logitech F710, so I can try out how the controls feel on a game pad.

I plan on trying some harvesting and crafting too!

u/universerule · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

(PC Controllers) also SteamOS is free and does boot directly into big picture...

u/marcushe · 2 pointsr/MightyNo9

I got this Logitech Gamepad specifically for this game and it works fantastic, plug and play. Just have to redo the "calibration" every time the game is launched, which I'm sure is a beta limitation.

XBMC is a Win/Mac/*nix compatible HTPC frontend that has a decent ROM viewer that allows you view, manage, and launch your roms of any console on your HTPC-connected television.

As for using a wireless controller, I recommend checking out the Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710.

u/infernalmachine64 · 2 pointsr/pcgaming

The Logitech F310, F510, and F710 are the best options. They have a switch on the back that changes from Direct Input to X-Input (what the 360 controller uses) to ensure compatibility for every game that supports a controller. I have 2 of them and they are great. They have great build quality and a D-pad miles better than the 360 one.

My controllers are these: Logitech Gamepad F710 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041RR0TW/. I don’t see anything in the description about unifying receiver.

TBH, I only plug these in when I’m gaming. I can easily pull them out and put them in the little holders I added in the print if I need to plug something else in. :)

Did you install the drivers for your controller? If you did and its still not working, get a wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller or wired Microsoft Xbox 1 controller. You can see it's much cheaper to get the wired 360 controller. If you absolutely want a wireless controller, you could get either the wireless Xbox 360 controller and the Windows Xbox 360 adapter or wireless Xbox 1 controller with Windows adapter (old version) or wireless Xbox 1 controller with Windows adapter (new version). Since they're made by Microsoft, they work fine with Windows. Logitech also makes a few good controllers, the wired Logitech Gamepad F310 and the wireless Logitech Gamepad F710. I personally have a wired Microsoft 360 controller and a wireless Logitech F710 and from my experience, the official Microsoft controllers work best with games. I hope that helps.

u/jerkstore4 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Did you want wired or wireless? xBox 360 controllers are nice; you get compatibility with all the modern games. As far as I know Xbox One controllers don't have wireless support for PC as of yet.

The wireless receivers you buy for 360 controllers are usually generic and need the drivers manually installed and then applied to the device. In other words you have to install the 360 Accessories program/driver in windows then apply it in the device manager.

Logitech also makes xInput controllers. I use a Logitech F-310. I like it a lot but it might be too simple for you (wired, no vibration, lightweight feel). It feels solid though and also has a switch that lets you go from DirectInput (older PC games) to xInput (newer/modern games). If you have the 360 accessories already installed the controller gets recognized right away.

I've never used it but you could check out the [F-710] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041RR0TW) if you wanted a wireless logitech. Each controller might need it's own (included) dongle plugged in; I don't know if it works with unifying recievers.

u/Tempelgeist · 2 pointsr/LordsoftheFallen

Im using the steam version, win7 and a Logitech Gamepad F710. The game should recognize the gamepad if you start it. With my old gamepad i used the ce360 emulator to emulate as x360 controller.

u/_Wartoaster_ · 2 pointsr/gaming

This controller is THE cheapo PC gaming controller. I've had one since ~2005 and still no issues after 12 years.

There's also a high-end model that is a little more sensitive but the 310 works fine and I can vouch for it

u/jjspaceman · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

Logitech has a nice controller made specifically for PC, too:

u/Gateway2009 · 2 pointsr/linux_gaming

Oops mb linked the wrong one meant the F710

u/wadcann · 2 pointsr/linux_gaming

None of these builds includes the cost of headphones, monitor, mouse, or keyboard. Select as-desired.

>(stick with NVIDIA though for Linux gaming)

AMD is okay with the open-source drivers now. AMD's proprietary drivers are awful.

> Budget

I'd drop the optical drive. No point; lots of laptops don't have them now, and there's enough inertia that they aren't going to be required. The only real reason to use optical now is (a) proprietary software that comes on CD, which is very rare on Linux, or (b) if someone is purchasing media on optical media, which also isn't incredibly-common for a lot of people.

Obviously, no reason to get Windows.

I'd use half of the savings to double the RAM to 16GB. If your programs aren't using the RAM, your OS will be using it for disk caching. Never hurts to have more.

> Value

I personally hate cases with a lot of plastic molding stuck on the outside and would be much happier with their "budget" case than their "value" case (save $15). I don't know why they switched optical drives between "value" and "budget", given that the two cost the same; in any event, I'd probably drop it ($20). No Windows ($100). No idea why they purchased a more-expensive brand of memory with the same speed as their "budget" build. I'd drop that. Unless someone is (a) planning on overclocking (I don't recommend it) or (b) wants a quieter system (fair enough), not much point in purchasing a third-party heat sink ($30). I haven't actually looked up the power consumption numbers, but heatsinks are almost always vastly over-rated for the amount of power that's required; may be possible to use a less-expensive heat sink; they seem to have just randomly purchased more-expensive components across-the-board.

Would again increase RAM to 16GB ($60). Would consider moving from the purely-rotational drive ($60) to a hybrid drive ($78) with the same 1TB capacity but better performance.

Would consider adding a wireless gamepad ($32). Depending upon the types of games played, can be rather more-comfortable.

> High-End

I suppose everyone has their own preferences; I think that the CPU and GPU parts cost quite a bit more here without providing a huge return. I probably would not purchase a $530 GPU (heck, I'm not sure that I'd get a $400 GPU for their mid-range tier), and the i7 provides no substantial performance benefit over the i5 for single-threaded work that dominates computation. This saves another $15 on memory.

I'd knock both of those down to their mid-range tier, saving $80 on the CPU and $129 on the GPU. I'd drop the molded plastic junk case (save $45).

I'd drop the $20 optical drive, and the $100 copy of Windows.

Out of the $374 savings:

  • Move from $60 1TB rotational drive to a $132 2TB hybrid drive, $72 more.

  • Would consider adding a wireless gamepad ($32).

  • Would double memory ($60).

  • Would consider a larger monitor (monitors are ignored in these builds, but a reasonable place to put money)
u/janithaR · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

oh in that case I'd gladly sell mine to you but I should note I live in Asia and the shipping and delivery time would make things redundant anyways. But if you're patient enough the price of it actually drops to $29.99 (brand new) on Amazon. http://camelcamelcamel.com/Logitech-940-000117-Gamepad-F710/product/B0041RR0TW?context=browse As a matter of fact it did just a week ago. Put an alert on camelcamelcamel.com and grab your chance. I'm pretty sure the cheapest you can get as far as wireless xbox controller for the PC is that price.

PS : I should add, this controller has two modes, X and D. X works as a regular xbox controller and any game that support xbox controller will never complain and on D mode you could actually use http://joytokey.net/en/ to make it compatible with just about any game. Even more for the price you pay. Plus it has another "Mode" button which would make it work like one of those old Nintendo controllers without the analog sticks. :) Trust me this is the one you should go for.

u/r4nd0mf4ct0r · 1 pointr/ffxiv

I'm using a Logitech F710 wireless controller, which is similar in design to Sony-style controllers so it wouldn't be much different from your dying DS4. It's the controller the XIV devs used when showing off gamepad controls in this video

The triggers are a bit stiffer than I prefer which can lead to trigger finger fatigue if you don't train yourself to lay off them a little, but it's only a minor gripe.

Being a wireless controller (not bluetooth, uses a low-profile USB receiver) it runs off of two AA batteries which usually last me three or four months, maybe more. Power's not an issue if you keep a fresh pair of batteries nearby.

u/shankems2000 · 1 pointr/pcgaming

I have a Logitech Gamepad F710 wireless controller. I got it because I put Defiance on my netbook and I just can't do TPS or FPS games with keyboard and mouse, I don't understand how people do it. It's just mroe comfortable for me to play those games with thumbsticks and trigger buttons. This is also one of the reasons I can't really play MMOs. Spam clicking wasd and hot keys to move around and attack, does a number on my fucking wrists. But to each his own.

I love it.

u/Ghidorah13 · 1 pointr/gaming

You have an extremely bizarre, unique error that makes no sense at all I'm afraid, dude.
Hop on Amazon and get a Logitech PC controller that looks like the '360 pad, you'll have to replace it.

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000117-Gamepad-F710/dp/B0041RR0TW/
Both of those should behave exactly the same as the '360 pad.

u/ta1ntdude · 1 pointr/Steam

I've used a bunch of different 360 controllers for PC. Of all of them the best one is the Logitech F710. Its wireless and games recognize it as a 360 controller. It has the dual analog stick orientation of the ps3.

But you can just buy the adapter and use your existing 360 controller too.

u/luthage · 1 pointr/GirlGamers

Xbox controllers are also uncomfortable for me while the PS3 is just fine. For my PC, I use the Logitec F710. The wireless is nice as I have my TV plugged into my computer and I can sit on the couch.

u/karl_w_w · 1 pointr/Cynicalbrit

I had exactly the same concerns as you, OP. I got myself a Logitech F710 and I have to say it is just absolute perfect. The weight is just right, very solidly built, the rubberized plastic on the back feels great, and it has the right button layout for me.

u/AdamskaPrice · 1 pointr/ffxiv

The Logitech F710 is pretty good if you want something different. I recommend it if you have big hands since PS3 controllers are notorious for giving hand cramps. The button layout is almost identical to the PS3, but with a Microsoft look and a little bit more weight.

u/LiquidPunch · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The F310 but if i was going to buy it again i would go for the F710 the wireless model with vibration feedback.

u/whale-o-dile · 1 pointr/Games

I just switched away from that setup. I think by making a receiver the size of an egg attached to six feet of USB cable, Micosoft has sort of missed the idea behind wireless.

I replaced it with a Logitech F710. It's built like a hybrid between the 360 and PS3 controllers, and you can plug it in and it just works exactly like the 360 controller. Bonus: the receiver is tiny, and it comes with an extension cord, in case you do need to move it for reception issues. But at least the cord's optional.

u/Dyzon · 1 pointr/gaming

I've found the Logitech Rumblepad II to be great for most things. The Dpad is much better than a 360 one and the weight and feel of the controller is pretty good. The wireless works great but goes through batteries fairly often, best to just take them out when you're not using it. The look and feel is basically a PS2 controller.

This looks like an updated version that will even work with any of the 360 only games:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gamepad-Support-Vibration/dp/B0041RR0TW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1293089846&sr=8-5

u/crashbandit556 · 1 pointr/EliteDangerous

So, i play on PC only. both at home, and on my laptop at work.
At home i have dual sticks and a throttle (Thrustmaster FCS with second identical stick as lefty)
However, at work i play with a Logitech F710 and love it.
I threw this together initially to help with mappings, and layout. Now i use it as a template for any controller playing this game. very doable, just not for combat. (not enough DOFs)

EDIT: imgur is being retarded... i'll keep trying to throw up the template.

u/brandude87 · 1 pointr/teslamotors

I use two Logitech F710 wireless controllers in my Model 3 for Cuphead and Beach Buggy 2, and they work flawlessly.

u/Wazanator_ · 1 pointr/buildapc

So I just realized the other day I have my old prebuilt tower just laying about collecting dust and figured I should probably go ahead and just wipe it and hook it up to my living room TV.

Any suggestions as far as wireless keyboard with touchpads and wireless controllers go?

Right now I'm considering this keyboard and either a F710 or Dualshock 4.

I'm leaning towards the DS4 but I have a DS3 and the bluetooth doesn't work the best as there was very noticeable input lag in fighting games. Is this still an issue with DS4 controllers or perhaps I just have a really shitty bluetooth adapter?

u/sjheil · 1 pointr/TeslaModel3

Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 - works wirelessly in Model 3 using its dongle. Even works in an Anker USB hub which I'm using to provide USB space for Tezlab wireless phone charger and Rasperry Pi Zero for TeslaUSB.

u/Izodius · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

I love my Logitech Rumblepad 2's - they've served me well for many years, and despite being wireless, were entirely plug and play on the RPi. I believe they've been replaced by the F10s, which are pricer.
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000117-Gamepad-F710/dp/B0041RR0TW/ref=pd_cp_e_0

On my real PC, I just use a wireless X360 controller. Best damned controller ever made. The nostalgia controllers are cool for about 10 minutes, then they wear on your thumbs, and your hands cramp. I want to enjoy the game.

u/semperverus · 1 pointr/darksouls

If you need a cheap Xbox 360 compatible controller (well, a PC controller that uses xinput), the Logitech F310 is a great starting point for around $25-30 depending on where you look. I personally have both the F310 and the F710, and can definitely say that the F710 feels like it is of higher build quality. The outer housing and buttons are all technically the same plastic, but the inputs feel more solid, it has rumble, and more importantly, it has weight. Oh, and its wireless with a battery life that even the Wii U pro controller wished it had.

Dark souls definitely feels better on these than it does my actual Xbox 360 controller, almost like it was built for these controllers.

u/phyneas · 1 pointr/gamingsuggestions

If you like the DualShock form factor, the Logitech F310 is a pretty decent clone. Only thing it lacks from the DS2/3 era is the analog face buttons, but the DS4 doesn't have those anymore either. The F310 is natively recognized as an XBox controller by most games (and has the corresponding XBox XYAB buttons so that in-game prompts make sense), so you don't need to use any extra drivers or external button mapping tools for most modern games.

If you want vibration and wireless, the F710 has those in the same form factor, but it's more expensive, of course.

u/footpriest · 1 pointr/FIFA

Absolutely. In fact, you really don't need to spend that much if you don't want to, but that card will be great for other games too. I use a slightly less powerful version of that card and I get 150+ FPS in FIFA 15, which is awesome because I picked up a gaming monitor that can do 144hz.

An XBOX controller should work fine. If you want another option, I use this one and it works great:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000117-Gamepad-F710/dp/B0041RR0TW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414509987&sr=8-1&keywords=f710

u/oleg-py · 1 pointr/RetroPie

I use Logitech F710. Works fine as long as there is a line of sight to USB dongle, tho it's 2.5m to TV on my setup, but the input lag seems to be lower than on my other couple of bluetooth controllers.

u/Smellyhobo101 · 1 pointr/LethalLeague

You can get one on amazon for $16.52. I think mine was $30 so that's pretty good.

Keep in mind the F310 is wired. If you want wireless get the F710.

u/Robot_xj9 · 1 pointr/ConsumerAdvice

So, I have a bunch of PS2 controllers sitting around and I had the idea a couple weeks ago to hook them all up to my computer to play games.

Here's the problem: No one has developed a driver that converts the directinput from the PS2 controller to xInput, which is what most games use now-a-days and recognise. So if you do buy a PS2 usb adapter, expect to be mapping every game manually, using joytokey... etc. etc. It's a headache.

I attempted to use x360ce, which is supposed to allow you to emulate any controller into an xbox one, but it, for some reason, did not work with my adapter. Your milage may vary.

Honestly, in your price range, it's a difficult fit, I don't even know if you can do it the way you want to.

My advice? this:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000110-Gamepad-F310/dp/B003VAHYQY/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1416953807&sr=1-2&keywords=logitech+wireless+controller

It may look low quality, but honestly, I have one and it's pretty great, it doesn't feel nearly as cheap as the picture makes it look. It's the best built 3rd party controller on the market right now, the only one that's better is the wireless version, which is here:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000117-Gamepad-F710/dp/B0041RR0TW/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1416953807&sr=1-1&keywords=logitech+wireless+controller

It's xinput, so it's instantly compatible and configured for any game supporting xinput, you don't need to use and special drivers or hacks and the wired version is $15, best of all it has the analogs in the same place as the playstation controller, so no need layout to get used to.

u/optymizer · 1 pointr/Android

I don't know about using other controllers with the Nexus Player, but before I bought the ASUS Gamepads, I checked on Amazon and it looks like a similar gamepad from Logitech is about $40, and this one isn't even Bluetooth, so I figured $40 is fair for the ASUS GamePad.

I'd say that I would have been much happier with the $99 price if the Player came with 1 gamepad instead of that remote, and if I could use these gamepads with other systems. My cost with 2 controllers was about $200 with 2-day shipping, and I bought 2 other controllers afterwards, so I spent about $290 on the Nexus Player. Had I done the same with a 'real' console, like the Playstation 4, the final price would be closer to $650 ($400 for the console, $250 for 4 wireless controllers).

u/Stifu · 1 pointr/RetroPie

For what it's worth, those knockoff Saturn pads are bad and don't last long. The official Sega ones were awesome, though (rereleased in USB for the 10th year of the Saturn). But last time I checked, they were rare and overpriced.

You can add the F710 to your list, by the way. Wireless and plug and play.

This might work for you. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000110-Gamepad-F310/dp/B003VAHYQY/ref=pd_cp_pc_0 I was telling my brother to get it because it has both Direct Input and Xinput. I don't get why people throw money at 360 controllers for the PC when the Logitech 710 and 510 are things.

Especially considering their drivers are much more customizable without resorting to 3rd party measures.

I use one of these and have been extremely happy with it ever since I got both of mine. Have had them for a little over half a year now, I think, no issues at all with either so far. I even use one of them to play on my friends' PS3 by setting it to DInput mode — the only drawback is the obvious lack of a PS Home button.

Other than that, happy as a clam with 'em.
