For those asking about mouse/keyboard for selection and typing, this is what I use and it works wonders. Logitech Mini "CHROMECAST" PC

For the people who don't really like this keyboard. I have been using one of these for years on my ps3, originally got it to chat in pshome.

Still have to set the controller down to type, but the keyboard is so small you can just keep it in your lap and pick it up really fast to type. And the keys light up so if you play in the dark you can easily still use it.

Edit: It appears I have a slightly older model. I have the dinovo mini only difference is mine uses bluetooth while the newer cheaper one uses RF. Which means the old bluetooth one doesn't require a usb RF receiver to work with the ps3 or any other device that has bluetooth while the new one does since it doesn't use bluetooth.

Seconded. Steam Big Picture is what I use all the time now. Works great.

That said, having something like this on your coffee table is a big help too.

When I first setup my main HTPC I used a Logitech K400, and after using all of the following:

  1. Lenovo N5902
  2. MCE Remote
  3. FAVI Keyboard Remote
  4. Logitech Dinovo Mini
  5. Logitech Harmony One

My wife still says she preferred the original K400 keyboard.

I actually started using a remote a while back for my first HTPC, and haven't really been able to consider any of my builds as complete until I have a remote to accompany it. While I can't really tell you what would be best, since every situation, PC, user, and budget may require something a little bit different, my two current HTPCs use the Lenovo N5902, and the Logitech Wireless MiniController.

Even something simple like the HP WMC media remote works wonders, and offers all of the functionality (albeit for compatible systems) of a higher priced device for a fraction of the cost.

Harmony One remote and Dinovo Mini keyboard/mouse.

Do you have your Plex somehow feeding to XBMC or do they just watch the same folders?

Been using the Logitech Mini for about 5 years now. Full keyboard and mousepad the size of my hand. I love it.

Logitech Dinovo Mini

I've used this in conjunction with my Harmony One for about 5 years, and it works very well most of the time, sometimes the trackpad gets a little wonky, but i attribute that to greasy fingers.

It's very small but works very well for putzing around on the net from your couch. Plus it closes up so when it gets dropped between the cushions it wont have any erroneous buttons presses.

It also has the WAF. I dont have to install something on my wife's phone, or make sure either one of our batteries on our phone are not dead.
