Logitech F710 wireless. Great controller for people used to PlayStation controllers, plus it's XBox 360 compatible. Even has a switch for legacy mode for games that don't like XBox 360 controllers. Here's the wired version.

I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for the DualShock 3, but I could never get it to work right with one of my Macs. If you are interested in an option designed specifically for computers, you may want to check this out.

The Logitech F510

I can't actually personally recommend it yet, I am about to order one. It gets great reviews though. It can either work as a standard USB HID controller or emulate an Xbox 360 controller, which is great for the many games that support that controller natively.

I would love to continue with the ps3 controller, but can't cause the software Motioninjoy is glitching, so ill buy a gamepad that looks like the ps3, except for the D-Pad -.-

The game is optimized for a 360 controller - the best option is to use a 360 controller emulator (I'm using one for my PS3 controller) if there is one.

EDIT: According to this thread, there should be some sort of DirectInput option on the F510, see if that one works.

The Logitech F310, F510, and F710 are the best options. They have a switch on the back that changes from Direct Input to X-Input (what the 360 controller uses) to ensure compatibility for every game that supports a controller. I have 2 of them and they are great. They have great build quality and a D-pad miles better than the 360 one.

Logitech has always been a good brand, their MX510 mouse (in one form or another) has been beloved by PC gamers worldwide and the newer gamepads are quite nice, I've got an F510 (not sure why their price jumped $20 last month) for Dark Souls and Arkham duty on my PC.

I'm around 30 hours into the game (PC). The controls aren't "terrible", but keyboard + mouse definitely takes a lot more effort than the controller. The game is definitely designed to be more comfortable using a controller. Maneuvering and timing attacks are definitely a lot more effortless with a controller. Definitely not necessary, but definitely recommended. Here's the controller I use

As for if it's worth it on PC: Definitely. Even without the controller, the game plays well. There are no bugs so far (I haven't finished the game, but I'm fairly certain I've at least been to 70% of the places in the game, and no bugs so far). Just get the 1920x1080 mod (works like a charm) and the new 60fps mod, and you'll be set. It should be better than playing on the console (especially in previous zones like Blightown that has issues with lag)

tldr: If you got yourself a controller (not necessary, but recommended), and the 1920x1080 and 60fps mods, buy PC version and have no regrets.

I have a Logitech Rumble Gamepad.

I had to manually bind the buttons to keyboard keys to get it to work. It is fine now that I've done that, but all the in-game button UI still shows keyboard keys, which is confusing.

Yes, but console gamers have never had to purchase additional input devices to have new experiences on their platform. No console manufacturer has ever expanded on their initial controllers to try to provide a more robust experience.

Also, KB/M is the superior control scheme for all games. Developers should be expected to release a PC game with KB/M controls that are flawless for the genre. There is no reason that any other input mechanism might enhance any PC gaming experience.

edit: This is also not KB/M but I guarantee you would like to experience it.

I have a Logitech F510. The buttons are xbox360 but feels more like a ps3 controller. The DPad isn't complete shit like the 360 controller either.
